Free Will

Author's Word:

I apologize for the recent missing uploads of chapters. Having some issues with my laptop. I tried to write on my phone but, alas my fingers are just too uncomfortable typing on it. However, got my laptop fixed and here is another chapter.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A large crater appear beneath me as I land on it. It didn't hurt me at all. I guess it's one of the perks of being such a powerful being. I stand up and look above me at the large floating island. Even though, it took quite a while for me to land, the island still look so huge from from down here. Truly a breathtaking view looking up at such a huge thing floating in the air.

I could see some roots sticking out from below the island. Wow, the huge tree is just dominating everything there. I wonder will it ever stop growing?

Speaking of trees, all around me, I already see some young saplings sprouting from the ground. Those little dragons did a marvelous job. In many more years to come, these saplings will grow big and a forest will appear. The only thing that it needs is just living creatures to populate it then. I hope the humongous tree up there will sprout those creatures. I wonder how its going to do that? I should've been more specific about how it does that I guess.

Now, where to find a good place to rest? Preferably, somewhere faraway from here. I want to avoid seeing Alta for now. She needs time to see her own path. When she wakes up, I hope she will not remember me at all. It will be a new discovery to meet each other again. I also hope when that time comes, she will already find her own meaning of existence.

With that, I begin my journey walking across mountains, flat lands and even some volcanoes still spouting lava and gases. I don't how long I've walked. I didn't even count the days with the rise and set of the new sun. Until finally, I turn to look around and still could see the huge floating island above the horizon....What!? This is still not far enough! Aargghh! Fine, a longer journey then.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Countless days have pass, until finally, the island can no longer be seen from here. Also, right now, in front of me, is a huge gorge. Also, I can't even see the bottom. It's just too dark and deep. Looking across it, the width of the gorge could probably swallow a two or three of the floating island and the ends of the gorge, goes beyond the horizon. Yeah, that's how big it is. Did the planet itself split? I hope not.

Wait, isn't the perfect place to rest? I seems like a crazy idea, but resting in there is a perfect hiding spot away from Alta. She doesn't like dark places. So, it's a full proof plan...I hope. Without anymore hesitation, I run to the edge of the gorge and jump down into the abyss.

Probably, a full blown five minute it takes for me to get to the bottom. Once again, I could feel a large crater appear beneath me as I land...on my face. I can't see anything, so landing on my feet is not probable. I get up and using some of my powers, a small ball of light appears on the end of my finger. I still see nothing but darkness. Some sense of fear arises within me but, it quickly get suppress as I remind myself I'm now a powerful being. If there is something down here. I know I could beat it....hopefully.

I walk aimlessly forward trying to find the walls of the gorge. I want to make cave and a bed in it. After probably a two minutes of walking, I finally find the black wall of the gorge. I will my power to carve out a cave within it and make a simple dirt bed. I could slowly feel my power oozing out of me as I did all that. In the end, after I finish my preparation for sleep, I lay down on the dirt bed with my arms resting behind my head with the ball of light floating around me.

This is a really sad place to sleep in, but for Alta, this much sacrifice is fine.

SIGH

Suddenly, I could hear footsteps from outside my cave. I quickly open my eyes and cower to the wall of the cave. I also cut off the ball of light floating around me. Yup, who the f**k is out there! I know any of the beings I made couldn't have woken up and follow me. I set them up to wake up the same time as Alta. Which would probably takes centuries to happen then. So, that thing out there is something else!

The sound of dirt scraping slowly coming getting closer to the mouth of the cave makes me shiver. I know I just said I shouldn't be afraid anymore as I am a strong being now but, currently I am literally almost powerless. I don't that much power in me. The footsteps finally, stops at the mouth of the cave. Oh shit! What am I suppose to do?

Then, suddenly a ball of light illuminates my small cave. Behind the bright light, I could see my face peering down at me. Huh?

"You really pick a place like this, huh?" he says so with a ridiculing smile. Huh?

"Anyway. Once again, I don't have much time. So, I'm gonna tell you something important, briefly," he sits down on my bed and crosses his legs while doing so.

"The creatures that will come out of the Tree of Life isn't going to have free will. They'll be mindless creatures waiting for orders. So, considering you don't want that for Alta, I hope you understand what you're suppose to do after this, before you go to sleep," huh? I give him a dumbfound look.

"Is any of this getting to you?" He begins to arc his eyebrows in annoyance.

"Umm. Who are-," before I could finish my sentence, he slaps me hard on my cheeks. With that, I wake up on the dirt bed with a stinging pain on my cheek.
