Chapter 13 [ Luke's POV ]

It has been almost two years since I've been living in someone else's body, I've more or less got accustomed to this new life as Lukas. Never in my life would I have even thought of the possibility of getting reincarnated into another world, but now that I am in another world, I've come to realize that the world I live in wasn't alone and that there are other realities outside of my own. Living in this world really did make me appreciate life and freedom. Previously, I was an average high schooler, from an average family, receiving average education, living an average life. If I continued to live like that, I'll probably get an average job, with average income, have average kids, and die an average death. It'll be depressing. But now, now that I've been given a second chance, I'll do my best to live life to the fullest.

Living in this world, I thought it would be lonely, as I thought that nobody has the same circumstances as me, and that I'm an Earthling alone. But, that changed when I met with Evan. He's not only an other-worlder, but, he's also recently revealed that he's non human. An interesting fellow, wouldn't you say? He also decided to become my personal servant, he said it was for ease to party up when he and I go Adventuring. But it's probably because of his whim, because it looked like he agreed on a whim.

Now, I'm going to turn 17. Well, not "me", but, Luke will, but.. Wait.. I'm also Luke... Whatever, the point is, I'm turning 17 real soon, like in.. 4 days? I'm now currently spending my time away from the main Draculesti estate, to ensure a surprise, in one of their holiday mansions, relaxing on a nice chair, admiring the beautiful sunset, drinking a nice, cool cocktail, the drinking age in this world is apparently 13 years old, that's gotta be a problem, right? But, I've never even once experienced what's called a hangover, it seems that Luke's body can handle alcohol well, no, it's more like everyone's bodies can handle alcohol well. Also, an interesting point to note, Luke's birthday is on the 21st of September. A nice date, for sure. Then suddenly, Alicia who's beside me, glanced at my drink, and said.

" Can I try it? ".

" What? Of course not, you can't. ". I said, sternly.

" Why? It looks good. ".

" This drink is only for people 13 years old and up, besides, you have your juice, right? ".

" The juice taste boring~. I wanna try something new! ". She said.

" How about you wait until you're 13, then try it. ".

" Muuu... Okay, I'll be patient. For now. ". She said, pouting.

" That's more like it. ".

As I said that, I patted her head, she seems pleased by it. When suddenly, a servant approached me, saying.

" Young Master, you have been summoned by Lord Markus to the estate, we shall depart tomorrow morning. ".

" I understand. Alicia, let's head inside. We should pack up. ". I said.

" Okaay! ".

So, I finished my drink and headed inside. I say to pack up my things, but, that's going to be handled by the always present maids. So, I just kinda waited around doing nothing until dinner.

After the delicious dinner, I headed to my room and relaxed. I then remembered that I received a letter from a pen pal of mine the other day. So I took it out and read it, we were discussing some things about our daily lives and some other random stuff, who is this pen pal of mine, you ask? Why it's Her Highness the Royal Princess, Kaitlynn cecil Ardria, of course! Why do I know her, you ask? Well, it started around a year ago, when I started attending the Royal Knights Academy. She one-sidedly declared me as her rival, she insisted that I should follow it and maintain a healthy rivalry. I thought she was a weirdo and a nuisance, but as I come to know her more, I discovered that our interests are pretty similar, and we often find ourselves engaged in a discussion on a topic, I kind of enjoyed her presence, but, not romantically ...well, not yet.

I wrote her a reply, and sealed it up in an envelope, I was planning to hand it over to the messenger tomorrow morning, before I depart. After that, I went to sleep.

The next morning, it's a nice, clear day. The carriages that are departing today are all ready. I've eaten a light breakfast, and I've handed the letter for Princess Kaitlynn over to the messenger. Now all I have to do, is dress up in travel clothes and depart. I was in the same carriage as Alicia and two other maids. There were a total of 6 vehicles in this entourage, 1 carriage for me and Alicia, 2 passenger wagons for the servants, 1 cargo wagon for luggage, and lastly, 2 passenger wagons for the guards accompanying us. They're people from my father's.. Luke's father's, personal knights which he himself leads in the battlefield. He's a distinguished gentleman indeed.

The trip took 2 days without problems, we stopped by in 2 different cities, Oakville, and Runderin. Both times we stayed over at the mayor's residence. Today was no different, there was nothing noteworthy that happened.

" When are we arriving?? I'm getting tired~ I wanna see mom~ ". Alicia protested.

" We should be close, Young Lady. ". A maid said to her.

" But how much longer??? ".

" Not much. ". The maid continued, with a smile.

And, just as she said, Vansborough finally came into view. As always, it was surrounded by tall, sturdy walls, which were plated with thick steel and is magically reinforced.

" Finally! We're here! Big brother we're here! ". Alicia said, smiling ear to ear.

" Yeah, you must be tired, right Alicia? ".

" Very! ".

We smoothly continued on, pass the gates, through the city, and straight into the estate. The carriages parked neatly on the driveway, if you could call it that, it's more like a hotel lobby. Alicia and I dismounted, Alicia immediately hugged Eleanor, Luke's mother, while big brother Al and big sister Christine congratulated me on my birthday. Lord Markus, Luke's father, gave me a bear hug, his muscles are as huge and strong as always, it's suffocating me. We went inside and celebrated my birthday privately with a small party first, it seems that Evan is not here, even though Maxim and the others are, which is weird, because he has been the one who usually welcomed me home recently, where is he, I wonder? ...why do I kind of miss him???

The small, private celebration was short, but fun. We talked a lot and we joked around, I had fun. But, it was already nearing sunset, the time for the main event is near. So, we all excused ourselves and went out to prepare for the event. This time, unlike my 15th birthday, the invitees were only the people closest to father and mother, and also relatives. I dressed up in a simple, three piece suit, dark purple in color, with a dark crimson ascot tie, tied up in a barrel knot under my shirt collar. Once the event started, and all the guests have arrived, I headed towards the main venue. I arrived right on cue, as the live orchestra changes tune. I greeted people here and there, I also talked a little with some of the ladies that were pushed on to me by their parents in hopes of getting an engagement, really, they haven't changed even a little, huh?

I was then guided to the seat of honor for this venue to receive gifts and exchange congratulatory wishes from the guests. It's really tiring.. Having to force a fake smile all throughout the evening was really taking a toll on my face. Everyone's gifts were varied, from a set of magic tools, decorated swords and shields, glittering jewelery, to even favours. All of it was quite the diverse choice.

But then, lastly, Maxim and Rose came up to me to give me their present. The present was... Evan.. He was standing behind Maxim, he's wearing a black tailcoat, with a black vest underneath, and a black butterfly tie with white gloves on his hands, his long black hair was tied into a ponytail with a black decorative ribbon. He completely looked like the perfect butler.

⟨ Huh?! What is the meaning of this?! ⟩. I thought.

He then proceeded to kneel down before me. I couldn't even stop him, his movements were fast, yet elegant and smooth, his aura was also different, instead of giving off a cheerful, carefree aura, his atmosphere now feels solemn and calm. Is this the results of Maxim's training?! Scary!!

He then said, in the most solemn sounding voice I've ever heard coming from him, that.

" I, Evan Myers, shall devote my life, body, and mind, to you, and you only, my Master, Lukas Vesner cecil Draculesti. I am willing to cross my heart to swear, that, I shall remain loyal to you until the day I die, and I shall keep whatever secret you wish to keep, to my grave. Do you, my Master, accept my Oath of Servitude, from me, to you? ". He said.

It was really abrupt and sudden, so I just blurted out. " Ah.. Uhh.. Y-.. Yeah.. Yes, I do. ".

" I am eternally grateful for your acceptance, from now on, I shall serve you, and only you, my Master. ". He ended.

The people watching were applauding, Evan then stood up and bowed towards the crowd and then immediately went to my side.

The birthday party continued until the end, with Evan standing beside me the whole time.

... Awkward...
