Chapter 114: Start of War(8)

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

"W-what-"

"Dear God... What kind of war did we get ourselves into...?"

"This... This is the battle in which humans are unable to participate... It's simply impossible..."

The troops knelt on top of the walls, gazing at the giants in front of them, who were almost as tall as their walls. They were looking at it with trembling eyes. Fear, horror, and disbelief were visible in their eyes. The scope of the war grew so swiftly that all they could do was watch in disbelief as it unfolded.

The troops then turned their attention to the man's back, which was covered with flapping white wings. Luke, their commander, is the man at the center of it all.

Luke smirked at the teenager who was staring at him with wide eyes from shock while being completely oblivious to the soldiers' stares behind him. The giants that Nash teleported here were all standing intimidatingly behind Luke's back while holding weapons and armors. Luke smiled casually.

"Welcome to the real beginning of this war, kid."

The kid gulped as he looked at the giants who were staring at him from behind Luke. He was completely unprepared for the arrival of the giants. Hell, nobody here does!

While the teenager was struggling to make sense of what was going on, Luke began issuing commands to the giants behind him.

"I believe I can trust you to handle those 5 hideous monsters and soldiers, right?"

Shawn studied the five monsters in front of him, as well as the opposing soldiers who were terrified of them. He then nodded and pointed at the five black monsters while frowning.

"But... What do those monsters do?"

"Ah, yes, I almost forgot,"

Luke squinted at the monsters in front of him, the tip of his blade pointing at them.

"Those monsters release small bombs from their mouths. When the bombs cling to you, they won't release go until they explode, just like they did to me earlier."

Luke then pointed to his slightly scorched waist, which Selena had helped to repair. The giants nodded as if they had finally grasped the situation. Shawn then began to speak slowly.

"If the bombs come out of their mouths, all we have to do now is crush it till they can no longer open it."

Luke gave a satisfied nod. He knew it was a wise decision to leave the monsters to Shawn and the giants.

"Exactly."

Shawn nodded and turned to face Luke, who was floating beside his head.

"What are you going to do then? Commander?

"Me?"

Shawn nodded as Luke pointed to himself. Luke was silent for a while before turning to face the enraged teenager and Snow, who were both staring at him from afar.

"First and foremost, I must deal with the mages and a few troublesome children."

"Understood."

The giants began to walk forward with their weapons in their hands as soon as Shawn said that word. Klein and Leo, the two pilots of two iron giants, all stared at the newcomers to the battleground. Klein was so taken aback by the scene that he nearly had a heart attack.

• Luke, you scumbag! You didn't tell me about the giants joining our forces! I was on the verge of having a heart attack! Do you want me to die? You should've informed me sooner!

Luke smiled as he looked in the direction of Klein, no, the Iron Giants, who were busy fist fighting each other.

"Klein, I advise you to cease obsessing over little matters. Concentrate on your battle and meet your family."

Klein scowled as he looked at Luke through the screen in the pilot's seat.

• Che! I know that already!

Leo cast a glance at Luke and Klein, who were casually conversing amid their battle. He felt abandoned all of a sudden. He was never ignored during his entire career. But now that he's been ignored in the most humiliating way possible, he can't take it any longer.

• How dare you disregard me, old man!

• You brat! Isn't it obvious that the adults are conversing?!

After that, they went back to smashing their biggest creations against each other, producing loud metal screeching sounds to be heard all over. The enemy soldiers, on the other hand, had little time to focus on the two giants since they were more concerned with the genuine giants approaching them slowly.

"R-run... We have to run..."

The soldiers then turned to face their fellow soldier, who was trembling severely in dread as he stared at the giants in front of him. The sight of their fellow soldier losing hope caused them to lose hope as well, and they were instead enveloped by fear. Their prior arrogance and pride had completely vanished.

Extreme fear.

It's what they're feeling. They fear they are experiencing was too much to the point that they want to puke. They didn't sign up for this.

"Giving up?"

The troops flinched and turned around to check behind them. They then noticed Liam, the fiery red knight, looking at him with his fiery red eyes while wielding his sword, which was encircled by his iconic blazing red aura. All of the soldiers stared at him with trembling eyes. They're going to die, they can see it in Liam's eyes.

And that is precisely what occurred. Liam swung his blade flawlessly, splattering blood all over the place. The troops didn't even have time to react before Liam's sword slashed through them. Liam observed the slashed warriors beneath him. It might seem backhanded and unfair but they are in the midst of a battle. When you're in the middle of a battle, you can't afford to make excuses.

And besides, these soldiers didn't sign up for the war to expect to not be killed. If they believed no one would be murdered, then that was a foolish and naïve thought, especially for a soldier.

Liam lowered his gaze to his bloodied sword and hands. He has no idea where he got these cruel thoughts from. Liam then turned his attention to the battleground in front of him. He has no idea why, but he is experiencing déjà vu as a result of this, which makes no sense given that this is his first war.

Liam's thoughts were interrupted when he felt a swarm of soldiers racing at him from all sides. Liam scowled; he didn't have time to waste on frivolous thoughts. He's come to defend his family. This is why he's come all this way in the first place.

Luke turned to face Liam, who was cutting foes with his blazing sword in a flash. Liam seemed to be doing an excellent job. Luke then turned to Shawn's side and spotted Selena and Yulia assisting with the monster fight while also healing the giants. Luke nodded in satisfaction and then turned to face Spencer and Adam, who were fighting on the other side of the plains. Spencer was ordered to deal with Adam as per Luke's orders but not the mages. The mages' operations and commands would be placed on hold as long as Adam, the command, is briefly preoccupied.

Add to that the fact that their tower, which housed their magical supplies and weapons, blew up just before the war. They can't take any chances, but they also can't indicate that they're vulnerable, which is why they all formed shields and focused more on mending soldiers to disguise the fact that they're basically powerless now that the tower containing their supplies detonated.

That fact was advantageous to Luke because it allowed him to concentrate on other things rather than worrying about them. Luke then turned to face the teenager and Snow in front of him. He then spoke calmly, as though this was nothing but a walk in the park for him.

"Now... How should I deal with you?"
