Ch 4

After school, I and Lucoa are back home as I'm not part of any club so right now I'm reading a magic book on Lucoa lap as she's brushing my hair with a smile on her face.

School is unbearable the second time around and along with all the stares I was getting all bay thanks to the stunt Lucoa pull made my time there more unbearable.

Ahh, I still can't believe that I have to go to school a second time around but at least it's not all bad as Lucoa kept me company, even though she's the one who caused me problems but it's fine as long she doesn't go overboard.

As we are relaxing my mom came to the living room where Lucoa and I are at and stood there looking angry at us.

"Shouta, I got news from the school that you weren't paying attention to your classes and that Lucoa and you were flirting with each other openly during school hours. Also, Lucoa it seems you left before finishing your job and you need to go back unless you want to work overtime tomorrow." mom

Hearing my mom's words I know that I just can't ignore my studies like my last life as it seems that my new mom won't let me and as for Lucoa she's having an awkward expression on her face as she never expected for this to happen.

My mom also kept on going about how important school was, how we shouldn't skimp on work, and that PDA isn't something we need to do in school.

She kept on going on like this until dad came home but by then both Lucoa and I had lifeless expressions.

Seeing that our lecture was over Lucoa went back to playing with my hair regaining her usual altitude while I just started to enjoy Lucoa touch forgetting about what just happened.

My dad who just came in after stopping my mom from continuing her lecture walked to a seat opposite of us and started to talk to me.

"Shouta, I just heard what happened and I got to say I'm disappointed in you. You should have had your succubus use her charm on everyone in your school so they don't inform your mom about your school activities but seeing how you just contact her I won't say much on the topic." dad

Hearing what he said I was dumbfounded by the advice he gave me but before I could react Lucoa was the first one to respond to him stopping from talking some more.

"Umm, I'm not a succubus but an ex-goddess and a feathered serpent but you can classify me as a dragon if you want." Lucoa

Hearing Lucoa my dad just stopped talking and looked at her closely before talking once more.

"Are you sure? Don't get me wrong but it's kinda hard to believe as most female dragons I meet don't dress or act like you." dad

"That's because I'm a feathered serpent and we feathered serpent from my world live in tropical areas so compare to other dragons we like to wear fewer clothes in our human forms to match the humans that live in the tropical areas where we come from and for how I act it's because that's how I am." Lucoa

Hearing Lucoa answer I was surprised about the reason why she dressed in revealing clothing as I never thought about it and as for my dad, he nodded his head in understanding before turning to me to talk once more.

"Well Shouta it seems we mistaken Lucoa for a demon all along but that shouldn't dishearten you for failing your test as it's an understanding mistake." dad

He seems to be changing the topic to not feel like an idiot for mistaking a dragon for a demon by dragging me in but then again if I didn't have knowledge of the anime or manga I would be like him so I'll keep my mouth shut.

"But now that we know you failed the test, you'll have to redo it. Remember you'll have to summon a demon as a familiar to move on to the next part of your training." dad

Hearing dad's words remind me that the old me needed to summon a demon as a familiar to move on to the next part of his training to be a formal mage.

The reason I needed a demon as a familiar was that for a high school my dad wants to send me to I need a demon familiar for protection from possible danger there.

After remembering that information a question popped into my head that I had to ask him.

"Dad, why can't I use Lucoa to fulfill my requirements?" Shouta

Hearing my question my dad just shook his head before answering me.

"Shouta, Lucoa is a dragon while we might confuse her for a succubus that doesn't mean that other people won't notice as you'll find real succubus at the school I'm sending you to and there's high-level personal in there too so Lucoa won't be able to enter as she's too high level, it would have been fine if she was a demon because I have a way to let her enter with you because of that I wasn't worried earlier when I first saw her but now you'll have to find a new familiar. Oh, you also don't have to cancel your contract with Lucoa, after all, who said you can have only one familiar, you can still be lovely lovely with her so no worrying about that. Haha." dad

I'm somewhat annoyed by his laughter it's probably because as a child I dislike being teased by my parents and for what he said I'm now curious about the school he wants to send me to but that can wait until I summon my demon familiar.

Getting over the slight annoyances I just side and started to read once more while Lucoa is now staring at my dad for some reason maybe trying to get information off him by staring him down but he seems to ignore her as he took out his phone and started to play with it not giving in to Lucoa stare.

Once I started to read my dad became quiet but that didn't take long as he got up from his seat and walked to the kitchen where my mom was at making dinner.

After a while, both my mom and dad came in front of Lucoa and I with serious faces.

Seeing them like that I stopped reading and looked at them while Lucoa had a slight frown on her face because I left her lap pillow.

See that I was paying attention my dad started to talk with a serious expression on his face before talking to us.

"Son, I need you to be careful tomorrow and onwards as it seems a new mage group came to our area called The Magical Deck, which I find to be a dumb name and they even name themselves after playing cards. They seem to be a pretty peaceful group when compared to other mage groups so if you stay out of their way you should be fine but you should still be careful if you encounter them." dad

Hearing what my dad was talking about I felt confused about something so I ask him about it.

"Ok but dad do you know the reason they're here in our area?" Shouta

"Oh that it seems that the group is looking for something and right now they are asking around in the mage circles in town for possible leads." dad

Hearing that I stopped asking questions as it a motto in the mage community being "ask less, learn more" and this saying has two or more meanings to us mages so I better stop asking questions that are not needed as I can learn about it later.

Once the serious talk was over we went to eat dinner as nothing happened before with the serious talk and that's mostly because we don't need to worry about that mage group as long as we stay away from them, this behavior is quite normal for mage families as the serious talk we had before was more like gossip than anything but that doesn't mean we'll let our guard down as even the most little of things that involve a mage must be taken seriously as things tend to snowball when it comes to anything in the supernatural world if you let your guard down.

After we finished dinner I went to my room and go ready to sleep like last night but this time Lucoa didn't follow me right away but went to make a phone call before coming into my room.

After a bit, she came into my room after making her phone call, seeing her enter the room I wanted to question why was making a call at this late hour but I didn't have to ask her as Lucoa was already talking and answering my questioning look.

"Oh, Shouta baby don't make that kind of face, I was calling my friends and warning them about that mage group. If I didn't tell them right away who knows what will happen so, you can put away that questioning look." Lucoa

After she finished talking Lucoa removed her clothes and hug me while giving me a good night kiss as a way to ease my mood making me feel comfortable in her warm embrace letting me sleep peacefully.

Feeling myself going to sleep I dig myself deeper into Lucoa embrace with a smile.
