Chapter 13 Felix’s Disguise

As Felix laid in his bed he yawned and said "I've only been here for a few days and I already feel completely worn out." Felix stared at his birth tree as he said "Although… being near this certainly makes it more bearable." As Felix stared at the tree he heard knocking on his door that startled him as he shot up and mumbled "Please don't be who I think it is." After sitting there for a few more moments he heard the knock again followed by Lilac's voice as she shouted "I know your in there so open up the door." Felix backed up against the wall as he thought "She must've decided to kill me for what happened earlier." Felix glanced at the two knives beside his bed as he mumbled "No wait… maybe she just wants her knives back." As the knocking became louder Lilac shouted "Open up the door!" Felix sat there for a few more moments as he listened to her knocking as he sighed and said "Maybe I should just get it over with." As he slowly opened the door he peeked out and nervously asked "What brings you here today?" Lilac glared at him as she said "Silkie wanted me to invite you to go shopping."

Felix began to close the door as he quickly said "Thanks for the over but I'd like to decline." Lilac put her foot in the door as she angrily said "I know you have nothing to do, so at the very least have some sort of reason for not going so you don't make Silkie upset." As Felix tried to think of an excuse Lilac pushed the door open and said "Before you even try saying that your ears and tail will give you away Silkie already thought of a way to avoid that." Felix stared at her nervously as he said "How thoughtful of her." Lilac walked over and picked up her two knives as she said "And if that still isn't enough to convince you to go we can always convince you using other methods." Felix stepped out of the apartment as he said "C-calm down… we can talk about this." As Lilac threw the knife into his forehead he stumbled backward and fell off of the walkway and in front of Silkie. Silkie stared at him for a moment as she asked "Are you alright?" Felix slowly looked up at her with the knife still in his head as he nervously said "N-never been better."

Silkie pulled the knife out of his head as she said "Really? But you had this sticking out of your head and you landed on it." Felix stared at the knife as he said "I was really hoping she'd miss." As Lilac walked down the stairs and over to them wearing a mask that had animal whiskers she said "I brought him here so we can go shopping together just like you asked me to." Silkie stared at him excitedly as she said "Really! I'm so glad that I didn't make these clothes for nothing then." As she went into one of the apartments she walked out with a brown trench coat and a flat cap. Felix stared at the clothes for a moment and asked "Is adding more clothing really going to be enough to hide me?" Lilac picked up the flat cap and put it on his head as she said "It's not about having more clothing, it's about what the clothing is gonna cover." As Silkie handed Felix the trench coat she said "By wearing this baggy clothing you can easily hide your ears and tail."

As Felix slipped the trench coat on he said "You know, I probably could've just mimicked this clothing from that rectangle you used before." Silkie flinched as she sadly said, "Oh right… I forgot about that." As Felix felt Lilac's glare he nervously said "Oh but it's very nice of you to have done all this for me." Silkie began to cheer up as she said "I'm glad to hear that since I didn't know your size." As Lilac's glare faded Felix let out a sigh of relief and asked "So where are we going?" Silkie smiled as she said, "I'm glad you asked, although it's nothing special, we're just gonna go to a supermarket to buy a few things." After she said this Felix glanced down at the trench coat as he thought "This fabric is soft… but something feels off about it… it's a very familiar uneasy feeling." Felix glanced up at Silkie as he asked "So where did you say you got this?" Silkie smiled as she said, "I used my silk to make it."

Felix froze as he heard her say this. As Felix stood there nervously staring at the clothes Silkie said "It was very difficult to make and it'll probably take me a while to recover the silk I used to make it, but I'm glad that you like it." Felix continued to stare at the trench coat as he thought "Surely clothes can't be dangerous… right?" As Silkie began to walk she pointed in front of herself and said "Since your rather new here I'll lead the way to the closest supermarket." As Lilac and Felix followed her Felix nervously asked "So how far away is this place?" Silkie glanced behind herself as she cheerfully said "It's roughly a ten-minute trip to get there." As the three of them began to pass a lady who was walking her dog Felix hid behind Lilac without saying a word. As he hid behind Lilac she asked "What are you doing?" Felix stared intently at the dog as he said "Following my instincts." As the lady and the dog passed them the dog barked at a passing car and caused Felix to change back into a fox.

Lilac and Silkie both stared at the trench coat and hat as Silkie asked "Is he alright?" As the hat moved he peeked out at the dog watched as it walked further and further away. After a few more moments he changed back into a human and said "Good thing that lady had him tied up." Lilac stared at him with a confused look as she asked "Are you afraid of dogs?" Felix stared at her for a moment and then said "Dogs are vicious predators, if you were a defenseless fox like me you'd understand just how I feel." As Silkie approached him she said, "You should be more careful, if that lady turned around she would've seen you." Felix stared at Silkie as he nervously said "I-I couldn't help it… it was an instinct." Silkie smiled as she said, "Well even if it is just you acting on your instincts try not to be seen by anyone, ok?" Lilac glared at him as she said "Yeah, I already told you this once but if you get caught it'll be harder for us as well." As she said this she turned away and began to walk off.

Felix watched as she walked off as he thought "I'm so glad we're in public, she definitely would've stabbed me if we weren't." Silkie glanced at Lilac and then at Felix as she said "Although it may not sound like it, she is worried about you… if you're exposed to people you may have to move far away from here." As Silkie followed Lilac Felix thought for a moment and then mumbled"Move far away? If I could've done that I would've, just count yourself lucky that I'm not willing to make that voice mad." As Felix followed them Silkie stopped walking and said "I forgot my purse." Silkie glanced at them with a smile as she said "I'm gonna quickly run back to the apartments, please go on without me for the time being." As Silkie left Felix let out a sigh of relief while mumbling "I can finally breathe a little easier, I thought I was gonna die of a heart attack from all this stress." Lilac stared at him as he stood there barely moving as she asked "Why are you standing there looking so happy?" Felix flinched as he nervously said "H-happy? I'm not happy, what made you think that?"

Lilac glared at him as she said "You're so obvious that your grin is wider than mine." Lilac grabbed him by his trench coat and pulled him closer as she intimidatingly said "If you're smiling like that because Silkie isn't here I swear I'll gut you." Felix held his stomach as he nervously shouted "I-I'm not!" As Lilac began to walk off leaving Felix standing there holding his stomach she said "Whatever, let's go." Felix continued to stand there as he nervously said "At this rate, she'll kill me before we can get to the supermarket." Lilac glared at him as she asked "What did you say?" Felix began to follow her as he said "I said I'm excited for my first trip to a supermarket!" After saying this Felix mumbled, "I'm just gonna consider it a miracle that she didn't hear me."
