Why is everyone here bigger than me?

The queue was a very big queue, there was around a hundred people in the queue.

Ell asked Wain, "Why is there so many people here?"

Wain replied, "It's because this knight academy is very popular in this city, it was founded by a Master (high) Swordsman! It's said that she was undefeatable in the sword arts."

Ell and Wain could see many different people of all shapes and sizes in the queue. Strangely enough almost all of the people weren't wearing any armour for the test.

Ell turned his head over to Wain and whispered into Wain's ear,

"Hey, why don't they have any armour with them?" Ell whispered to Wain, in hopes that none of the people around him got offended by him. However, it seemed as if the opposite had happened, most of the people there started to smirk and smile at him, almost as if they were looking down on him.

Wain was even more suspicious, "Are you actually here for the test? * sigh * In the test, you're not allowed any of your own armour."

"Ooooh"

As the two spoke they could see a man in full golden armour ahead of them, just outside of the tent arguing with what looked to be an examiner.

The man in golden armour shouted, "How is bringing my armour in unfair? I bought this armour myself, doesn't that count as my own ability? If you can't afford armour like this it isn't my fault!"

The examiner didn't know how to respond to the man's barrage of complaints and just stuttered to same words to him over and over again, "Uumm, you c - c - can't b - b - bring that a - a - a - a - armour into the e - examination a - area!"

The man in golden armour realised pressuring this examiner wasn't working, so he stormed off with a huff.

"Well, that was certainly an experience." Ell whispered to Wain.

"Yep." Wain just said staring into the distance.

"Don't think we'll see him again."

A few minutes go by, and Ell and Wain are in the front of the queue.

Ell asked Wain, "So, do you go in first? Or do I go in first?"

Wain was about to say something but was interrupted by one of the examiners, "There's two of us, you know…"

"Oh."

The two of them slowly walked into the tent, and were greeted by two different people wearing the same uniform,

Ell was called over to the examiner on the right,

"Ok, sign your name onto this paper. You need to sign this paper, to show that we aren't responsible for anything that happens to you after and during the test. This includes injuries, wounds or disabilities and even death." The examiner firmly said, placing a piece of paper in front of him, with a pen near him.

Ell understood why they would have contracts like these. Death was natural in these sorts of tests, and it seemed as if they had many people who complained about not being warned about it.

Ell held up the contract and read what it said, and like the examiner said, all of it was to make sure he couldn't complain to the academy of Highshield about any missing limbs, etc.

Ell held his pen and quickly scribbled his name on the paper.

The examiner smiled at him, "Now, you need to go to the field on your left."

Ell walked to the field to his right and as he walked he listened for someone running behind him just in case Wain was going the same way. He turned around many times however he hadn't seen Wain once. "Did he chicken out?" Ell thought to himself. When they reached the field, Ell could see hundreds of people waiting impatiently.

Most of the people there were taller than them and looked more mature.

"So, you are the last person left?" One of the people there asked them. She was very tall and had flowing silver hair and sky blue eyes. She looked very concerned for him, her eyes conveying a message to him that he shouldn't be here.

"Yes." Ell confidently said.

A group of people were laughing at him at the other side of the massive stone circle.

"Hey examiner! A kid like him really gonna be fighting us? He'll be beat to the ground. KAHAHAHAA! Oy kid! Go home to your mommy!" One of the people from the group laughed while ridiculing Ell.

One of the other people then tried to imitate what he thought Ell would say to his mother, "Mommy the older kids were 'Sniffle' bullying me. KAHAHAAHAH!"
