Ch4 Showing Luffy The Ship and On To Orange Town

Zoro directed the small boat towards the "island" on the horizon. When they got close Luffy exclaimed.

"Wow that's a weird island. It's so small. I mean it's got mettle cliffs and a completely flat top."

"What ever captain, just use your devil fruit and pull us up to the top. Then stretch back down and bring the boat up. We don't want it to float away, we'll need it later."

Luffy accepted Zoro's suggestion and stretched his arm up to the edge of the cliff. Wrapping his other arm around Zoro, pulling them both up to the top. He then stretched back down, grabbing the boat and with Zoro's help pulling on his arms they got it up. Zoro then dropped the truth on Luffy.

"This is actually my ship, now our ship, not an island, captain. Welcome aboard the Ark Royal."

Luffy was amazed and raddled off questions. " No way. This is actually a ship…? How dose is sail without sails? How fast is it? Where are the guns? Why dose it have a grassy field and trees on the deck?"

Zoro sighed and started answering his questions, explaining about the ship. He told him that he didn't know how it moved without sails, not wanting to explain something that Luffy wouldn't understand and he didn't fully understand anyway. He wasn't an engineer or anything like that in his last life. Maybe Franky could figure it all out in the future. He explained she (Ark Royal) was very fast and that he didn't know why it had the field and trees. He left out describing the guns for now. He wanted to surprise Luffy with Ark Royal the Klabautermann later. Right now she was only in a ghost like form as she didn't have the love and care of a full crew yet. To this point there was only Zoro.

He showed Luffy around the Ark Royal. He pointed out the bridge that had doors to the inside. After entering, they first went up to the top to look around. The front 2/3 of the ship was a grassy field and the back 1/3 had a forest consisting of small trees. They went down and Zoro showed all sorts of different rooms.  Some of them got Luffy very excited. Like the large open hanger space that was like a big cave. But what got him the most excited was the galley and kitchen.

He was literally bouncing off the walls in excitement of the food. That's when Ark Royal the Klabautermann decided to show herself in her ghost like glory. She said "I'm sorry captain but I don't have any food on board." Zoro was expecting him to be scared and depressed. He was depressed about not having food but instead of being scared of Ark Royal he was excited to meet a ghost. It's Luffy he should have expected something like this.

They talked and Luffy asked a million questions. Ark Royal explained to him what she was, a Klabautermann and what that meant. Zoro was pretty sure Luffy didn't understand most of it. He probably understood the friendship part but he mostly just thought, cool ghost lady.

They moved up to the top deck in the grassy field. Luffy was still depressed about not having food. Constantly whining about being hungry.  That's when he noticed a bird in the sky and yelled. "Look a birdy let's eat it."  He immediately stretched his arms up getting caught by the bird and flown away. Zoro just sighed to himself knowing this would happen and wouldn't be the last time. He was about to have Ark Royal show off her gung too. He'll have to do that after he gets Luffy back. He asked Arc Royal to follow him at top speed.

AN: I was unsure of how much explaining to do on things. People have Google after all and I didn't want to go on and on about some details. If you don't know what exactly a Klabautermann is please Google it and read about it. And yes she can control the ship. If you have questions ask away I'll try and answer.

Question: Where is Luffy's spot to sit? I was thinking either on top of the bridge or at the front in the grassy field.

Spoiler: The plan for the middle 1/3 of the ship is to transplant Nami's and Nojiko's tangerine trees there.
