Duel

"You're here" I heard Ray's Voice as I opened the Training room's door. I look around and see Ayla smirking at me. Someone really doesn't want me here huh, haha. I thought, while looking at the principle down the back staring at me with a smile.

"Hello and sorry for being a bit late." I apologized to Ray.

"Haha, Its fine don't worry about it, In fact I should be the one apologizing to you about my sister's behavior." Ray replied with an apologetic expression

This bastard really can act huh... I thought of what happened during the night, and realized that everything that what happened was 'too good to be true'. I then found out that I had been tricked by Ray and now I cant refuse spar since I already accepted it.

I'll make sure that I only show the power of an E+ ranker at most... Ray should currently be at the Peak of E rank nearly breaking through to E+ rank I thought, before having my thoughts interrupted.

"I'm surprised that you actually came, Zen" Ayla sneered

I ignore her, walked to Ray, and said with a smile "Is it time for our duel yet?"

"Hehe, You seem raring to go hmm? How about we start now then? You don't have to worry about any critical injuries since the servants will take care of it." Said Zen with a deep smile

"That's good then, Lets fight now then … shall we?" I nod at him before saying

"Hmm? Your not going to pick a weapon?" Zen seemed a bit surprised before asking me.

"It's fine, My hands are more than enough for me" I replied in an arrogant tone

"Hmph" Ayla snorted after seeing my arrogance.

Ray also flinched a bit with a dark expression before replying " Hehe, I hate it when my honor is ruined you see? Sorry Zen but I will have to go serious on you!"

Ray said, right before rapidly swinging at me with his sword.

"Hehe" I chuckled before jumping back to avoid his sword, and then trying to kick him straight in his face. It seems that Ray predicted me doing that, and thrusted his sword right before I kicked.

"… He's Strong" I thought while barely avoiding his thrust before jumping up and gathering my mana into my fist, I then hit the air towards him, creating a small shockwave which he simply dodged and then threw a black dagger at me which I deflect with my mana instead of dodging.

I didn't think that his Gift would be this strong... To think that his instincts are letting him dodge me with ease and hit me at my weak points... I also have to watch out for his other gifts...

Ray Maximus's Pov:

Strong. That was all I could think of while fighting him... I knew that he had talent according to my father, however I didn't think that it'd be this much... He deflects my dagger, I use that to my advantage and jump at him with my sword. However, he predicts my attack again... I use my C rank Clone skill to let his attack smash through my clone while I unleash a huge amount of my mana and pour it into my weapon, trying to defeat him with this chance that I obtained.

But....

Huh?!!

I suddenly see my self being forcibly pushed back and see him dash right next to me, trying to kick me before I could even react to use my sword. I decide to protect my body by enhancing it with mana trying to stop his attack but his kick was too strong and directly sent me flying back.

"Ugh..." I groaned. What the hell was that kick ugh... I can barely stand up.... and did he use his skill or gift to push me back before? I quickly dismiss my thoughts as I see him rushing at me again.

I let my instincts control me, using my gift which instantly makes me charge at him, and swing my sword from below. Ugh He counters my move by jumping in the air trying to create shockwaves at me again.

Heh, I already predicted this and jumped at him which makes him wary for my sword attacks however ... too bad for him, I won't use my sword hehe I'll use my gift to create a whip made from shadows at attack him without giving him a chance to dodge. He uses that ability again, which sends me back. However, I'm not sad because this is all going according to my plan. I manipulate the black dagger that I threw at him earlier which was in fact made from my shadow [which lets me able to control it even from a distance] and I shoot it towards him.

I eagerly wait for him to see what other tricks he has up his sleeve... However his next move makes me speechless.

"I... Surrender" I heard him say which made me shocked and unconsciously stop my dagger and let it drop.

Zen Almos pov:

This person is strong... very... I could easily stop his attacks but then I'd have to reveal a bit more of my power so I decide to surrender instead. I already showed that I'm talented and I'm confident that they weren't disappointed by looking at their faces... Well other than Ayla that is hahaha

"Why? Why did you surrender...?" I then hear Ray's voice as I feel him closer to me

"What do you mean why? Your attack would've hit me if I didn't surrender... besides It was only a spar so It's not like we should get serious and try to kill each other for something this small ... right? I replied in a way that made Ray not able to refute me.

it seems that he was enjoying our duel.... I thought of as I recalled his crazy expression during our duel....Damn... He looked like a battle junkie.

Anyways I turn to Mavin and say "That should be enough right?"

"Hehe, Indeed, You shouldn't have any problem with this right Ayla?" Mavin says with a satisfied expression though he soon frowns after seeing Ayla snort and leave.

"Hmph"

This girl.... What did I even do to her!

"I wish I could continue fighting you" I heard Ray's sigh before he continued "Well we can always spar with each other again, since we'll be attending the same academy hehe anyways, We should probably get washed and then eat before leaving for the auction Zen!" said Ray after looking at how drenched in sweat he was

"Alright" I replied while thinking about the artifact in the academy that I want.
