Chapter 9

Sneaking over the street to the house on the other side I make a short jump and begin my way up to the roof. The houses are build with wood and stone but they also have glass, this confuses me slightly because I cant estimate how advanced the people are in this world. Not to forget there most likely exist magic and I have no idea what limits it has or if it even has a limit.

I End this train of thoughts as I reach the roof and take in the view of a giant city that bathes in the light of the three moons. Truly like a fairy tale.

I admire the beauty of the city till I notice a abnormality, a crow. The bird is siting on the house to my right and is observing me. My guess? A familiar, summoned or contracted beast, because why not?

I observe the bird without looking suspicious and to my surprise I couldn't sens him with my antennas. This makes me a lot more alert and also a bit nervous, this is the firs time that Im in such a situation.

Because of the new threat level I decide to use all my energy right now. A big junk goes in my antennas a other in my earthen heart and the rest in my normal heart.

Detection, defense and regeneration are the things I bet on now. Why not speed you might ask, but to say the truth Im already very fast and within the city it is more impotent to have a agile body than just straight out speed. And being able to now where I go where the enemy are, able to take a hit and being able to recover from the hit and the fatigue sounds a little better to me.

After the goes away I use my antennas again and get a complete new picture of my surroundings. Now I not only sens the physical surrounding but also a new form of energy, it is different from the one I use to upgrade my body. This energy lacks in will, it is form less and nearly omnipresent and is easier to manipulate.

I also find that the crow has a string attached to its head that has a slightly different color and texture. I have a theory about its color and texture and testify it by concentrating on one of the heat signatures below me. Like I though the energy that slowly seeps out of the body of the human has also a different color and texture.

So~ every person has there own energy signature, Oh! also Im gonna call the new energy mana from now on.

Once again concentration on the string of mana attached to the crow I try to follow it with my senses but I fail to locate the other end because it leaves my detection area after 200m.

Leaving the whole thing away for now I make my self ready for my escape from my pursuer and stalker.

,,Looks like we came right on time,,. Says a young looking man with blond hair and handsome face while his remain closed. ,,What do you mean by that Sef?,,. Asks a woman in light leather armor while carrying bow and arrow.

,,Something unexpected happened to the research base, I cant see the guards but there are traces of a fight,,. Sef answers the woman. ,, Can you find the culprit for this,,. Asks a man in heavy armor. ,,Give me a moment,,. Says Sef. After a minute of silence he once again begins to speak. ,,There is a monster on the roof of the house across the street from the research base, but I have never seen one like this before,,.

This information makes the group of five people that are waiting 1km away from the base very surprised. It has been over seventy years since a monster managed to get into the city, the last one was shadow bishop with the ability to teleport.

,,What do you think of this Lena?,,. Asks the man in heavy armor the woman with the bow. ,,It didn't cause a alarm so must be a contracted beast or it came from within,,. Answers Lena. ,,I cant see any form bindings on the monster so it must have escaped the research base,,. Says Sef suddenly.

,,That is really bad, who knows what they did down there,,. Says the man in heavy armor. ,,You dont have to worry that much Ramus, we are an S rank party so it should be okay,,. Reassures the man that is warped from head to toe in black clothes. ,,Finally interested in the quest? I tough your going to stand there the whole time Mortas,,. Says Lena with a smirk on her face.

,,Stop that now! The monster begins to move, so make your self ready to follow,,. Sef suddenly says with a serious expression.
