Feng Ling Tian Xia
While updates have been slowly recently, the novel itself is incredible! The level of ploy at play since the first chapter really makes this worth reading. Its true that this novel does not have much "Heavenly Treasures" or some OP **** weapon/cultivation or whatever, but as someone who grew up reading wuxia novels such as Condor Heroes, this is a true blue Wuxia novel which cannot be missed. But this novel does require a certain level of intelligence in order for this to be enjoyable. Otherwise it might seem like a drag.
Fantastic storytelling with actually three dimensional characters, a sublime revenge plot (with a good dash of mystery) and some relatively interesting world building make this one of the best novels out there. Following our main character is compelling as he slowly discovers and confronts the people behind the murder of his surrogate brothers, using his wits and brilliantly devious schemes. The rock solid translation really helps this complicated plot to shine. It has faults but they are easily overlooked in light of all the positives. Basically, read this webnovel.
Story so far has been great. MC is likeable. Most of the arcs are enjoyable. There aren’t any obvious translation errors. My main gripe is the villains mid way and later on are too easily fooled by the MC. People get tricked to fight one another where a single sentence may have reolved everything. The amount of money stated is inconsistent. Furthermore the bandits apparently seem to have more gold than what the entire country is worth...
This a story about grief and brotherhood before anything else. (+) those two feelings are very well described, making the drives of the Main Character really believable for once. MC is nothing like the emotionless robots you usually get in xianxia (+) story doesn't feel like a webseries. There is a real continuity from one chapter to another, and you would be really hard pressed to divide the chapters into different arcs. Side characters are obviously used as plot devices, but it is done smartly and they don't disappear as soon as they have accomplished their role. The story feels very coherent, and is not a succession of mostly independent events. (+) some rare chapters really made me laugh out loud, some other are genuinely touchy. (+) some deviations from standard xianxia tropes : cultivation power isn't everything. some really powerful martial users are diligent and loyal servants of weaker people, it isn't strictly vertical // no "frog in the well" feeling as of now, the peak of power seems clearly shown very early. A few hints of something else, but we shall see // MC doesn't come from a backwater place, but is instead a really high ranked noble of the strongest empire on the continent. (-) story is painfully slow. I probably will pause it once I get to the latest chapters, it is probably better read on bulks. I mean, chapters are still individually interesting, it doesn't feel like there is a lot of filler at all, but it still feels slow. (+/-) review is done ~250 chapters in, some things said here might change, and I fear not for the better. We'll see Translation : i'm neither a chinese speaker nor a native english speaker, so i'm not in the best place to judge. Overall it feels fine, nothing impressive. Neutral feeling with a little negative for some weird phrasing and low amount of vocabulary. 3/5 Overall this story is worth your time. 4/5
This novel is one of the best novels on this site!!! The story is unique and it doesn't get any better than this. Please try it out. You won't regret it. There is great action and great plot. It's one of the few novels that make you smarter IMO. I write this review to attract more readers(Disclaimer!) as I think it should be ranked a lot higher than it is and i cant stand it being ranked low.(pls give power stones!!!).Have a great journey!!!
This guy's is one of the worst two face I ever seen he preach about respect and caring for other but would use underhanded ways to get what he wants. I don't care about using underhanded way if it's on the enemy but he use it on complete strangers who is not involve. Than they get in trouble so he helps them out and thinks it's even and he use it as an excuse to get them to follow him. I don't mind him being a compete ass hat but he always preaching about respecting people and not harming other because he one of the Supreme 9 and suppose to protect other but he turn around and get random people involve I his personal issue than would lie, steal, cheat and act shameless just to get what he wants. What the difference between him and his enemy. And a side is the author make almost everyone else complete dumbass that gets fool by him easily. Mostly people that he would need help from would get trick by him using a couple of words. It doesn't explain how he gotten so smart beside him being one of the Supreme 9. He's also only 19. How much life experience can he have to be that cunning and smart and able to read people. That takes life experience and meeting a loft of people which he doesnt have and hasn't done. The story have stated that he was a loner and mostly mix among the 9 brothers so where's all this smart and cunningness coming from. I just don't like how the Mc acts and portray in this novel. He seem very dispicable and underhanded like the enemy he trying to fight.
The Novel is Really Really Good. But the Romance part of it is too slow.It can even Be considered that there's no romance on the MC side. The Story has to be improved on that one part becoz there's already two Female characters showing Interest on him but the MC's not even Considering it. That's quite frustrating. One of the Novel Nine Immortal paintings is like that I really don't like that novel where all female characters showing love interest on MC but he just rejects them
