Chapter 3 - Chris

"Here, I brought back a change of clothing for you. Gather your things after you're done. I'll be waiting out the door." Yua hands her a pair of clothing before leaving the room.

She quickly change into it and searched the room, once again, confirming that she had nothing else besides the phone. She got out, and they went down. She was finally getting discharged today. No more bland food, and possibly, more people to talk to.

Yua led her to his car. He opens the door for her, making her feel a bit flustered, but she got in. She almost felt like she had mistook him for someone else. He had his own driver, a new car, and fancy looking clothes the first time they met. The driver soon drove, and Nano looked out the window. There wasn't anything that would look different from her previous world other than the people here.

"How did we get to know each other?" Nano turns to him.

He thinks and then chuckled before answering her, "Your older brother and I were friends. When I came over to your house the first time, only you had welcomed me in besides your brother."

Now was the perfect timing to get more information.

"Why didn't my other family member welcome you? What happened back then?" She asked.

"I am the illegitimate son of the Li family. Back then, I would be shamed in public and no servants would come greet me. Even in the Harlequin's household, there were no exceptions. Whenever your brother left my side to go do or get something, I would fear that I would possibly die. I could at least install fear into the servants who served me, but the servants who served the Harlequin's weren't scared at all, since they didn't serve under my family's name," He paused to smile before continuing, "but only you stood for me. Since you were the cherished only daughter of the Harlequin's, servants had to obey. Your words were law back then. You've even played with me when your brother was away. We grew to be friends, but we drifted as you grew older. Even yelling at me when you got together with Chris, when I had told you that he was a bad man."

"I was stupid to not have listened to you." Nano said.

"That may be so. When I had to work overseas, I was worried about you, and it looks like I was right. You've overworked yourself."

"You were working overseas until now? What kind of job do you have?"

"A detective, but I also manage the workload of a small pastry business here."

The driver glanced at them in the mirror. He had never seen his master talking about himself so much to another person other than Louis. The driver felt incredibly happy to the young woman. It felt like it had been so long since his master had showed a smile since he had grew up without much love.

"Master, we're here." The driver pulls to a stop.

Nano looks out. It was an apartment, one that looked like she would rent to stay. They got out and went up the apartment. When they had reached the room, Nano knocks on the door. No one was there to answer, and when she twist the door knob, it was unlock.

"This is the apartment I shared with Chris?" Nano turn back to Yua.

He nod his head and went in first. Nano followed after him. There were only one room and the rest of the place was a mess. There were unwashed dishes, clothes thrown on the floor, and the garbage was not taken out even though it was full. The stench in this place was horrendous.

"Cover your nose." Yua said as he covered his.

She obediently did what he had told her. When they explored the room, there was a bedroom door that was closed. Some noises were coming out of it. She open the door and a man and woman was in bed, doing the deed.

"Who are you?!" Nano shouts as she backed up.

Yua came to her side, already knowing what was going on. He could only sigh as he covers her eyes.

"Why the hell are you here?!" The man shouts as he threw a pillow towards them.

The woman covers herself up with the blanket. Yua blocked the throw, and the pillow was pushed aside. Nano uncovers his hand and looked at them. It was Chris! Yua's information was correct. Chris was cheating.

"Nano?!" He angrily got up and put a pant over himself.

"Ew! Please don't touch me." Nano backed even further away as he came to her.

"Why did you ignore my message?!" He yelled, stopping in his track.

"I have amnesia! How was I supposed to know who you are?!" Nano angrily yelled back.

"You're with Yua! How do you know not me if you know Yua?!"

"That's Detective Yua." Yua angrily interfere.

"He's the only one who visited me! Where were you when I was in such state? In bed with another woman! Furthermore, I came to break up with you. Yua had already told me things I need to know. From here on out, we no longer know each other."

As Nano look inside the room, she could spot her clothing inside the closet. She didn't want to enter the room, but she had to at least get her clothes. As she was about to go into the room, Yua stopped her.

"Let's go. Whatever you don't have with you, I'll buy it for you. Leave it." Yua said.

"Wai-"

He didn't wait for her to finish her sentence and drags her out of the wretched apartment. Chris hurriedly follows them, putting a shirt over himself.

"Wait, Nano!" He shamelessly follow them.

"Didn't I tell you that we're over?!" Nano walks faster.

"But I don't want to."

"That's not my problem. A cheater was caught doing his business already."

She looks up at Yua, uncomfortable with the situation. Yua knew her worries and walked faster to the car. Once they had gotten to the car, Yua pushed her into the car and confronted Chris.

"Didn't she tell you to back off? Are you deaf?" Yua said.

"Why are you always interfering?! I went to the hospital to take a look at her, and I was stopped! Now Nano doesn't even want to talk to me because of you!" Chris looks at Nano who was in the car.

She looks away in disgust. Nano could hear their talk, but was worried that something could happen. She doesn't know what this boyfriend of hers does for a living. Moreover, he shamelessly didn't want to break up with her even though she caught them in the act.

"Master Yua will be fine." The driver reassured her, seeing her expression.

"What's their relationship anyway? It's like they know each other." Nano ask.

"They have no relationship. They've only came to know each other when you had began to go out with him."

Nano looks towards them again. Chris was yelling while Yua spoke calmly at him. A few seconds go by, Chris was now infuriated. He threw a fist at Yua, but Yua dodged that and shoved him away from the car and himself.

"This conversation is over." Yua coldly looks at Chris.

Yua got into the car and told the driver to step on the gas. When the car had started to move, Chris came upon the window, knocking on it. Nano could only look away as the car began to leave him behind.

"Clean the car first thing after we get there, Myer." Yua said as he wipe his hands with a handkerchief, then puts it in a trash bag in the front seat.

"Yes, sir." Myer, the driver, replied.

"You should delete his contact, Nano." Yua turn to her.

"Oh, right." Nano takes out her phone.

She deletes Chris's contact and then stares at the unknown number. She shows it to Yua, "Do you possibly know who this belong to?"

Yua takes a quick look and replied, "Isn't that your brother's number?"

"But there's no name here." Nano said.

"It could be that you've decided to hide it, so no one would know that the disowned daughter of the Harlequin was still in contact with her brother."

"Makes sense. What's his name?"

"Louis."

Nano quickly types his name down and saves it. Then she began to think. She could use the amnesia excuse, but not forever. She needed to come up with a plan quickly. First, she was going to have to get use to the people here. Second, she needs to carefully hand pick out the trusty ones. Third, she was definitely going to be single in this world!

She sighed, trying to take in the information. She was only a college student a few days ago. Nano Walker, 22 years old, working a part-time job, and was single. Now, she doesn't even know how to react. Nano Harlequin, 26 years old, hospitalized from overworking, disowned, only daughter of the Harlequin, and now also single.

"Don't worry. Chris won't be bothering you anymore. If you feel uneasy at anything, you can tell me." Yua noticed her worry expression.

"Do you think I could go to work tomorrow?" She ask.

"....." Yua didn't answer her for a bit, but replied, "maybe."

Once they had arrived at Yua's place, it was a lavish mansion. The gigantic entrance opened for the car to pass through and they pulled up the the mansion's entrance. On the other side of the car, servants came to open the door for them and greet them.

"Are you really only a detective and a worker of a pastry shop?" Nano look at the grand entrance.

"No matter if I'm the illegitimate son of the Li's, I am still part of them. If anyone of them come to bother you, don't hesitate to tell me. They are out right now, so you shouldn't be worried for now." Yua said, signaling for her to follow him.

'So his family members that also live here. Wait.... then isn't this the house of the Li's?! Yua is making room for me to live with him in the Li's family?!' Nano couldn't believe how far fetched this sounds to her.

A butler came to show them the way. He showed her her new room. The room was almost as big as an average sized living room. Thinking about this, Nano thought that it was wasted on her, but it is what it is.

"The clothes will be arriving tomorrow. Some clothes are already prepared," Yua said as he stood by the door way, observing her reactions, "if you need anything when I'm not here, tell butler Wei."

"Thank you.. I don't know what to say." Nano replied.

Would anyone do this much for a friend's sibling? Not only did he provided her with basic needs, he was also buying her clothes, and servants were to serve her too. Wasn't this too much for someone who was kind to them?
