Eat Apples Late at Night
Great. Another Nyoi-bo studios translation. The studio that casually rips chapters from mtl because they're so fucking incompetent. After reading Elixir Supplier, which consisted of almost 20% mtl copies, I really can't recommend reading any translations from them. Even when they translate normally, the quality is utter garbage. Hope the studio goes bankrupt so they don't spoil more novels.
Xu Xiaoshou found himself in the possession of an incredible system, one which turns a game's mechanics into reality. Only problem is, it's a drinking game. Each day, a new passive skill is added, triggered by a new circumstance. Day one: Every time someone spits out blood, take a shot. Day two: Every time a young master gets his face slapped, take a shot. Day three: Every time you meets a jadeskinned beauty, take a shot. Grinning as he staggers from town to town, Xu Xiashou sings off-key, "I am loaded *hic* with passive skills".
Pros: A fairly good system that does not take away from the story, No power creep, simple cultivation realms, MC doesn’t come from weakest city of weakest country of weakest region in the most desolate world, no “upper realm”, other characters are actually strong and talented, MC grows and learns throughout the story, a simple yet intricate power system, no faceslap, MC is not freakishly talented or overbearing, uses unorthodox powers, no harem or collecting trophy wives, scheming and scamming MC, not too many random techniques, no bs power ups, every ability we see is eventually explained and part of a character skill set, a lot of mystery, characters have a purpose and revelancy after hundreds of chapters. Cons: Abyss Island arc lasts about 1000 chapters, even disregarding Dongwantian City. Mc sometimes acts brainless. First arc is tournament and dragged out. Bazhunan is an ever moving goalpost who seems to inexplicably be Holy Emperor level (peak of current known cultivation levels) If you can stomach the first 200 chapters, I would read it.
This novel could’ve been much better, however, this is just another author who wrote a novel with a brain dead MC and tried to pass his stupidity off as comedy. Very poor attempt at being funny. Sadly it ruined the novel. The other issue was the fights. Yeah it’s an attempt at writing a comedy novel, but the fights are the worst I’ve ever seen. The author doesn’t know how to create a balance between seriousness and his terrible sense of humor. I have no idea how this even has a 3.9 rating.
Current read chapter as of wrighting 1679.I think that this novel has a great power system, has interesting character design, plays around troops very well, and the depth of the world is amazing.the author does an amazing job of making the main character seem really strong early on, but once you continue to read the only thing overpowered about him is the support of those around him.Xu's intelligence and Charisma allowed the story to thrive with him being underpowered compared to the threats that he is facing, while also making him overpowered for his actual level.I do wish that the author/translator added tags so it would get tossed around to more people. Also Mu/Lei X Xu should happen, please add the romance tag and end her waiting!
A very good novel. It doesn't deserve its current rating. The whole story has a comedic tone and logic is a big part of the story. It's hard to have plot holes here and everything is explained. The schemes are pretty detailed as well and there are no unreasonable people out of nowhere. Sure the translation quality drops after around 500 chapters, but it picks right back up around the 800s and onwards.
This at first seemed like your everyday translated novel that gets everyone riled up and arguing in the comments about how bad it is, but after a couple of chapters I could see a light brighter than some of the best original works on this app. At around the 200 chapter mark the writing quality took a giant leap, be it the translation quality or how it was written, and that leap also seemed to make this novel jump out of the original translated book and into a master piece. I had started to get really invested onto this novel and could only save my fast passes for the next chapter to release. Despite what everyone says and what the stats for most of the reviews on this novel, I can say that this is a short paced book because of how much detail and just how many events happen in the span of just one month. Looking at the reviews compared too the first 100 chapters they are insanely accurate but that leap in writing quality boosted the world building, how the MC feel and depth to those feelings while increasing his intelligence with his character. As I said the story development is fast paced and never stalls at one point in the story for too long or too short to give it a real life feel with everyday being lived to the fullest. The only complaint I have is that 900 chapters in we have barley scratched the surface of the world development even though it has enough world building to make two novels. If you would like to try out this book despite the reviews then I recommend to follow through to at least after they meet Shang Ti
Terrible. The only good thing about this book is regular chapters. Don't even bother the mc is mentally challenged and just insufferable... Tbh i think the author tried to make a mc like lin fan or bai xiaochun ( a will eternal ) and just failed miserably. IF and only IF the author mad the mc less insufferable and gave him more than 3 braincells to run against one another it could have a been a great comedy, even if it were repetitive.
well this started with a cute character design, funny, and irritating at the same time. You could almost ignore all the bad translations, grammatical error, and author inconsistency just for the sake of having a good laugh, but after chapter 65 everything just went stupid. the MC became full on retard, and the story line did not have any fluidity to the story. I just quit it altogether after that. its a same, the character was somewhat tolerable at first.
Honestly, translation was really good. But, its WN. Budget cuts all around, and I assume they swapped the human translator and editor for just a single machine. But then, they realized that the readers weren’t reading anymore, and brought the humans back. Then, they took them back out for more budget cuts. Overall, the translations rise and fall like the tide, so judge yourself if you want to read trash for a dozen chapters, for only about 6 chapters of beautiful translation salvation.
