Chapter 4

Eragon POV

Well, when I went inside the house I broke a couple of things due to my wings and I was now sitting in front of all the members of the Denali coven Kate sat next to me which confused me as she explained everything about me let's just say it would be an understatement to say they were stunned. But they snapped out of it soon as Eleazar was curious as said "It is really fascinating how none of the vampires have ever heard of your kind."I shrugged and replied, "I doubt any of your kind would have found us as we mostly kept ourselves hidden away from humans."

Eleazar gave a nod as she asked "Do you know that our kind is we have mates.If a vampire falls in love, that feeling never fades away and that love is bound for eternity"I stunned as I looked at Kate who was next to me just smiled and gave a nod confirming my doubt as I mentally thought "So I don't have to hold back my feelings anymore."Eleazar smiled and said, "Yes kate is your mate."

That is the interesting thing vampires mates are similar to soul mates in a way I came to the conclusion by thinking mainly about Tanya, Kate and Irina have been alive for over 1000 years so to say they never loved someone during that period just confirmed that they just hadn't met there mate.

I was thoughtful as I replied, "I understand."Eleazar continued explaining"When a vampire loses his or her mate, he or she never recovers from the pain. He/she cannot rest until the party responsible is eradicated. Centuries can pass without lessening the ferocity of his/her need for vengeance."

Elezar continued to explain about the Volturi and their laws as I asked "Will the Volturi cause problems for you because of me." Irina who was quiet till now questioned "Although technically we have not broken any Laws of the Voultuir sine you are not human.But they will be interested in you as Kate told us you had multiple abilities so."I gave a nod confirming it is true while Eleazar hearing this said. "True Aro will not allow a person with many abilities to slip out of his grasp."Everyone was silent for while as Kate with full confidence "I will fight them if I have to,I have seen Carmen and Eleazar have this special connection.I envied it but now I have a chance and I am not going to have the Volturi steal that away from me."

Hearing Kate's declaration Tanya and Irina knew Kate will do it even if it kills her to protect Eragon. They both knew how Kate was really Loyal to her family even if it means dying for them.

I looked at Kate and asked, "Kate you have only known me for a month why are you so protective of me."Kate smiled and replied, "Vampires bond quickly."I gave a nod while saying "Okay we could go on a couple of dates.So that we can know each other better."

Kate shrugged and replied, "I have no problem with that."

Eleazar was studying me as he said"I believe he is also Shield."

When I heard this I raised an eyebrow then I remembered GOD given me a parting gift saying it will prevent my secrets from being found out.I acted confused "What is a shield."

Elezar explained "There are two types first one is a mental shield which blocks any and all kinds of psychic powers that act on invading the mind, though not necessarily malevolent ones. The second one is Physical Shield which has the ability to repel physical attacks, However, it is limited by making the pursuer want to go in another direction. I have come across both of them in my time at the Volturi."

Eleazar looked at me with interest and he spoke "You seem to, have the potential for both."I grew more interested in hearing that since I found Bella's mental shield and Renata's Physical shield really powerful. Well after the interesting meeting I was led to the guest room as Kate smiled and said "If you want anything just call me."I sighed and slept feeling slightly tired.

I woke up the next day while removing the shirt I had now with magic since it gets pretty annoying when removing it normally with my hands because of my wings I looked at the mirror and saw that I looked like Chris Hemsworth it was something I was getting used to as Kate suddenly barged in carrying some clothes as she said, "This is...."Her words stuck in her mouth as she just said"Wow you look great."

Kate was ogling a shirtless Eragon she was a straightforward person if she liked something she would say it and she already started having feelings for Eragon during the small time they spend together also for her the dating was just a formality to get to know each other better.

It felt a bit awkward as I asked "So that must be my clothes then."Kate gave a nod while still looking at Eragon and replied "Yes this belongs to Eleazar."I took the clothes and it while Tanya and Irina passed by the room seeing a shirtless Eragon both whistled and said "He is hot."This got Kate to glare at both of them she had sparks coming from her hand as she said "Go away both of you."Tanya snickered at Kate's protective nature and she replied "Okay we won't look." she soon dragged Irina from there and went downstairs.
