Georgina's Downfall

A week passed by so fast. After she wakes up in the hospital a week ago, Georgina saw her mother and Marga beside the hospital bed. She didn't make a scene or talk to them, rather, not make eye contact. Without asking, Marga explained to her why she's in the hospital. There's a woman in her 30s who contacts them and said that she's in the hospital after passing out on the roadside. She has a high fever and sleeps for a day and a half. Georgina didn't want to stay in the hospital for too long, so as soon as Auntie Sita and Warren came, she told them to bring her home. Even if the two want to know the reason, they didn't ask anymore and take her home.

Since then, Georgina didn't go out of her room. It's neither Warren nor Auntie Sita who are sending her food. Amidst of it, Warren get worried about her sister's condition and called the doctor they know which is his father's friend, but she keep refusing to accept any visitor inside the bedroom.

Four days passed, their mother came inside the house while Warren was not around and forced her to come out. She tried to resist, but they get a spare key from the room. In the end, she scolded her, force to talk with Jung's family and threatened to show the picture to her father. It's a picture they get when she enters inside a motel with a man and her pitiful state while sitting on the bench. There's also a photo from when she's drinking inside the restobar while a different man sits beside her. Her mother really caught her off guard. Of all people in the world, she doesn't want to disappoint her father the most. If the pictures reach him, he'll definitely misunderstand and worst came back to the country. He's still sick and under medication. A simple stimulation might lead to a heart attack, which is dangerous for him.

She doesn't want to interact with anyone and isolate herself. But her mother always torments her in any ways.

In the end, even if it was against her will, she accepted to have a talk with Jung Family again. Before she notice, the time came to meet them again in private. Her mother said that she'll meet them alone and pursue to continue the marriage. She warns her not to tell them, that she's forced to do anything. In short, she needs to act like begging them to continue the marriage.

In the middle of the driving, Georgina is looking outside the window without making a noise. Beside her is her mother, whose busy talking on the phone about business. It took almost half an hour before they reach a western-style restaurant. The car stops in a distance. Her mother keeps telling what to do once she enters inside but no words reach her ears. She goes out of the car and walk towards the restaurant.

A server welcome her inside and asked if she has any reservation but she told them about Jung Family. The server smile, nodding her head and escorts her to a VIP room. She hesitated for a second when they reach the front door but the server open it and lead her inside.

There's only one table inside, two servers are putting the dishes they order on the table. Both husband and wife are sitting by each other side while a familiar figure of man is sitting across the husband busy playing on his phone. She halts from walking, taking a step backward out of nervousness.

"You're here. Please take a sit and don't be shy." The woman said after glancing in her direction.

Georgina didn't move for a second, but she could remember the photos and walk towards the table. She sits beside the man but he didn't even dare to look at her side. The tension on the table arises when Henrick Jung slams the phone on the table. It made her startle and clasps both hands.

"Henrick, we already talk about this, right? Show some respect." The man said, gives a warn look to his son.

"Let's eat first. I didn't know what you like, so I order what's best on the menu." The woman said, smiling to her. "Anyway, it's rude to not introduce myself. I'm Amanda Jung and this is my husband, Hector Jung."

She gives a faint smile and looks down.

"You lose a lot of weight since the last time we saw you. It's an unfortunate meeting because of my insensitive son."

"Mom, don't talk like it's my fault. I will not marry someone like her. If you told me to become her friend then I'll accept it, but marriage? Are you making me laugh?" Henrick said in a sarcastic tone.

"Let's talk about it later. You should eat a lot, Georgina. Don't mind my son, he grows up being rude and stubborn. Eat."

A silence came between the four. They eat, but Georgina didn't even touch the spoon and fork. She glance towards them and saw Henrick's mother giving him a piece of meat. His family is so peaceful and loving, unlike her. Without knowing it, her tears fall.

"W-why are you crying? Don't you like the food?" Hector asked.

"Tsk. Don't mind her. I told you she's childi—"

"I-I'm sorry,"

The three stop eating when she talks and glance to each other.

"If you're sorry, you shouldn't come here and beg to reconsider the marriage. Are you not ashamed? Did you see the video and pictures of you that become viral on social media? How come you act pitiful in front of many people and not learn a single lesson?" Henrick blurted out.

"Y-you don't need to marry me, just accept the engagement and do whatever you want. I have my reasons. All I'm asking you is to give me some time. Please..."

Another silence came between them, but Georgina can't even look straight through their eyes. She feels guilty but desperate. The only person who left to her are Warren and their father. If she lost either of them, it's game over. It's her evil mother's win and her downfall.

"No. I won't reconsider my decision."

"Henrick,"

"I-If you really hate the idea, then I'll accept it. Thank you for your time. Please continue eating. I'll go ahead."

She stands up, wiping her tears before she turns to them to give a faint smile and storm out of the room.

Before she go back to where her mother, Georgina went to the comfort room and head straight to the sink to wash her face. There's no one inside, even all the cubicle door are open. She heaves a sigh, staring at herself through the mirror. She lost weight, the eye bags become big, and she looks haggard. It's very different from before. Not only the confidence, but the self-respect she lost.

After composing herself, she walks out and bumps into Henrick on the way. They look at each other in surprise, but she looks away and continues to walk. Georgina reaches the pedestrian crossing. Across it is where her mother's car park. She would stare at it for a long time while the traffic lights are in red. The window on the back seat was open, and she saw her mother. A sigh escape to her mouth before getting the phone inside the sling bag. She dials her mother number. It rings for two times before she answer.

"Why are you calling me? Hurry and tell me what happened to your conversation?"

"Why?"

"Huh? Don't fool around and..."

"Why did you give birth to me? Why are you so desperate to make my life miserable? Did I do something wrong before? I didn't remember some of my childhood, but I don't think I made you mad. Why are you doing this to me?"

"Stop asking unnecessary question and come here. The traffic lights already turn green. Hurry."

"I'm tired. You take everything to me, isn't it enough?"

"Georgina, if you didn't come here, then I'll go there and drag you back."

Georgina gives a smile full of sadness. "Hey, you never treated me like your child, right? Ever since, you never show a bit of gentleness towards me and only me. Your eyes always tell me how you feel disgusted."

Her mother didn't answer rather go out of the car staring at her disgruntled but she just smile. She looks at the traffic light and it turn to red again.

"You can't come to me now. What will you do?"

"Georgina, I'm warning you not to let me get madder than I am now." Her stern voice resounds through the phone.

"I'll come to you." she said. "Now..."

She ends the call and takes a step forward, looking straight at her mother. There's nothing inside her mind but the thought of ending everything. Pain, sorrow, regret and guilt, she wants to let it all out without thinking about anyone but herself. She clenches both fists, close both eyes while tears keep falling down. She takes a step one after another. The sound of vehicles on the road made her nervous but she would try not to mind it and continue to cross the pedestrian crossing while it's in red light. She feels the pressure on the air where the vehicles passing by. For once Georgina opens her eyes and closes it again.

One step and she's done. No one is around here beside to those walking behind.

"I-I'm sorry." She mumbles as she takes another step, leading her to the main road.

An old woman who notice shout in fear and pointed in her direction but it's too late even if someone will come. It's a one-step apart, no one will come to save her dying self. Her mother, on the other side, couldn't move an inch and watch in shock. There's a ten wheeler truck which is about to pass by. The people are shouting out of worry and some try to run towards the direction but only the old woman who is near to her. A smile escape from Georgina and takes a last step forward while the ten wheeler truck is half meter away. It's moving fast and even if the driver step on the brake, it's too late. She'll get hit. She got startled when the driver keep pushing the honk, it's only a few inches distance. In the last seconds of preparation for her last breath, a hand to pull her back in a hurry. They even fall on the ground because of the impact.

"F*ck! What's wrong with you, woman? Are you a retard? If you want to die, don't let other people suffer." The driver of the ten wheeler shout out of anger.
