Chapter 46: Recovery Road Hurts

Jade's POV: After I hugged Charles I ran over to Elizabeth and helped her while she was starting to wake up. Then I told her that everything worked. Charles cut in and asked, "Are you completely sure all of the black magic is out of you?" I gulped and said, "I'm not sure. I feel more sane if that's what you're wondering, but I can't really tell if it's ALL gone..." I was still in shock at being back to myself-ish so I didn't even hear what Elizabeth said to Charles when she walked over and whispered something in his ear. Charles smiled after she came back to the other side of the room so I said, "What's going on?" Charles continued to smile as he said, "How would you like to take a little field trip?" I was sort of confused right about now so I asked, "Well, where exactly would we be going? I don't want to get to far away from Boston because I think I just need some time to heal a little bit!" Elizabeth cut in and said with a sincere look, "Just trust Charles on this one. It'll be a way to heal...in your guy's own little way! You'll love it, I promise." I took a deep breath, smiled and replied, "Alright, when do we leave?" Charles quickly answered, "Start packing!"

TWO HOURS LATER

Charles' POV: Jade and I finished packing and we hit the road. After nearly an hour we arrived at a place I truly love. I took her to a lake house that my family has had for centuries. It's beautiful, and isolated. We can do whatever we want, if Jade needs to just let it all out and scream or something drastic then nobody will hear her. I just thought she'd like a little privacy for awhile. I told her to pack for maybe a week. Anyway, we walked through the door and I showed Jade around. She was amazed by the place, her eyes lit up in every room. I told her she can pick where she wants to stay, and if she wants separate rooms while we're here. All she said was, "I'm anywhere you are... forever. Now pick a damn bedroom Suliman!" We laughed and I, naturally pickled the master bedroom. It's so elegant in there. Cream colored, silk bedding. White walls. Wood floor. Beautiful white curtains on the window. And most of all, the most gorgeous woman standing in it! I asked Jade, "Do you like it?" She frowned a little and said, "No," I was confused. Then Jade smiled widely and said, "I don't like it...I absolutely love it!"

Jade's POV: This place is breath taking. The view of the lake, the rooms and decor, everything is just...perfect. I looked at Charles and said, "I honestly don't need any healing or whatever this trip is for. I need redemption. I need to fix all the things I did wrong while I was, bad, and I remember it all too. I was a monster. Everything I did was for no reason, I killed people Charles, lots of people!" By now I was crying. I continued with tears flooding my eyes, "And I don't know how to live with myself knowing what I've done. I snapped your neck. I tortured and killed two people for the fun of it. How can you even look at me the same right now?" Charles layed his hand on my shoulder and looked deeply into my eyes and said, "Because I love you. You made decisions while you were being possessed by something out of your control, it happens to the best of us. Here, sit down. Let me tell you a story..." I sat down and tried to wipe away my tears. Charles continued and said, "Before I ever met you I was a monster. A thousand times worse than you were. I would kill recklessly over and over again. My humanity wasn't even off then, but when it was I was even worse. In the 1400's I kept track of how many people I killed that year. It was a total of 3,429. That was with my emotions off. Every other year I killed probably over a hundred people. I did it because I never knew how to care or love. The reason I became calmer over time was because I slowly started to realize how bad I really was. Then I met you and I instantly fell in love. I figured that out only days after meeting you for the first time. I knew that you'd never love me if I was a monster again so that night I vowed to myself that I'd never hurt any innocent person again. Whether you loved me or not. I knew I had to change, so I did and I caught your attention. I fell in love even more. My point is, love controls all of us, if we let things like dark magic or blood start controlling us then we get out of hand. It's what happened to me, and you. And when we do the unforgivable we just have to rise above it and try to be better!" I smiled as a tear rolled down my cheek. I replied, "Thank you for telling me that Charles. It makes me feel a little better. But it doesn't make the people I killed any less dead. So if I'm understanding your story correctly, I just have to be a better person and try to make good of the bad?" "That's exactly what I mean!" Charles answered. I smiled and hugged him. It was late so I said, "Can we go get some sleep. It's been a long day." Charles nodded and we went upstairs and went to bed...

THE NEXT MORNING

Charles' POV: I woke up and saw Jade sleeping next to me. I was going to get out of bed, but Jade just looked so beautiful sleeping next to me, I just wanted to admire that for a moment. Without opening her eyes, Jade said, "It's rude to stare you know." I smiled and replied, "I can't help it that I have the most irresistible woman laying next to me!" Jade opened her eyes and smiled. I could never put into words how much I love Jade. She turned over and layed her head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around her and said, "Would you like me to make us breakfast, or do you just want some blood this morning?" Jade looked up at me and said, "How 'bout a little bit of both." "Sounds like a plan!" I replied. Jade leaned her head up and kissed me. I missed this, the sweet, lovable Jade, not the Jade who would sleep with me for self gain. I kissed Jade back immediately. I know how stressed and tense each of us has been for awhile so it'll be mice to be relaxed for once! However, once I pulled away I asked Jade, "Do you hear that?" She gave me a frightened look and said, "What is that? Is it...blood?" I gave Jade a 'keep your ass up here' look and I went downstairs. I peaked behind the stairs and said, "Whoever you are, back down. You're no match for me!" Of course, Jade couldn't listen to me for once, I heard her creep up behind me and say, "Well if you're too scared to go look I'll gladly do it!" Then she ran...

Jade's POV: Charles clearly didn't want to take any chances getting hurt so I stepped in. I ran down the stairs where we were at and I quickly entered the kitchen, even though I'm a heretic I'm still quite scared of enemies. I grabbed a knife and headed for the living room Charles grabbed my arm and said, "Not without me!" And he followed right next to me. We both got into the living room and without warning I jumped over the couch, I nearly hit the ceiling, and I found someone laying there. It was a woman with glowing ginger hair and flawless skin. I dropped my knife, ran over there and asked, "Are you okay? Are you hurt? What happened?" The woman rolled over with weak eyes and answered, "He's here-" Then she closed her eyes.
