With the knowledge he inherited from two of the most powerful wizards the wizarding world has ever seen Harry quickly attained such mastery of magic that others could only dream off.

In Dumbledore's books, he found ways to train his wandless magic, natural rituals, protective charms, powerful spells, how to master basic spells, how to understand and use wards, etc. Only through these books Harry was able to learn to use his powerful magic to its full potential.

While Harry faithfully followed Dumbledore's directions the results quickly became apparent, while Harry's magical power didn't change much, his magical skills and control improved with leaps and bounds. Pretty soon Harry stopped relying on just his raw power and started showing incredible finesse and mastery with magic.

While Harry followed Dumbledore's every word he took a completely different approach when it came to dealing with Voldemort's memories. Harry first saw one of Voldemort's memories in a dream a few months after the war. Due to that he quickly noticed a mass of unorganised memories at the edge of his mind, seeing this he quickly sealed the mass to avoid being affected by Voldemort's memories.

Harry then spent the next few months removing Voldemort's experiences, emotions, thoughts, etc from the mass of memories until all that remained was the raw information and knowledge that could help him fight against the Dark Arts. He removed the ways to perform dark arts but kept all the information to combat and counteract them like counter cruses, parselmagic, curse-breaking, etc.

The combination of knowledge of both Dark and Light magic allowed Harry to develop his own style of magical combat and if need be he also has ways to neutralize both types of magic.

Take the fire basilisk beside him, Harry was able to make this basilisk with his elemental magic due to knowledge and applications of elemental magic left behind by Dumbledore and he was able to imbue it with the will to act like a real basilisk because of Voldemort's knowledge and fascination with snakes.

Harry waved his hand and once again the fire basilisk shot out towards the snake statue but this time instead of burning right through it the fire basilisk slammed into the statue breaking into hundreds of pieces. Harry has such control over his elemental magic that his fire only burns the things that he wants to burn.

"Stop destroying my chamber!!" The portrait came flying at him shouting at the top of its painted lungs. He really shouldn't have enchanted the painting with a levitation charm. Now the portrait constantly follows him around whenever he is inside the chamber.

Harry sighed and with a wave of his hand the fire basilisk floating around him disappeared in a wisp of smoke. With another wave of his hand the broken and partly melted stone statue repaired itself back to its perfect unbroken state.

Seeing the destruction reverse itself the portrait stopped in its tracks and coughed a few times before once again started speaking in a calm manner. "Incredible display of magic as always young harry, but you shouldn't practice such dangerous magic inside my magnificent chamber. It will disturb Slinky's rest and let me tell you she is particularly fussy when someone wakes her up."

The Slinky in question is the seventy feet long basilisk that is sleeping inside the chamber, what is up with wizards giving cute names to their deadly pets? Slinky is not something that comes to mind when thinking about a giant serpent of death.

This is especially weird considering how proud and a little bit pretentious Slytherin or at least his portrait is. Seeing that most of the books in the study are irrelevant now the portrait had Harry remove the books to store them somewhere out of sight. The study which had more than ten shelves filled with books now only has one shelf, this remaining shelf is filled with books that are still relevant like books on blood magic, rituals, Slytherin's personal notes and journals, etc. All of this just to make Slytherin the wizard who has been dead for thousand years look as inscrutable and legendary as possible to the future visitors of the chamber.

"Don't worry oh great Ancestor!" Harry said with sarcasm dripping from his voice. "I won't be disturbing you or this chamber any longer, it is time for me to get my wand after that I will be practising my magic somewhere else."

Even though the portrait knew that he was not being sincere the painting nodded with a straight face stroking his long beard and accepted the praise. Being done with the portrait's antics Harry quickly called Hedwig and flashed out of the chamber.

While most of the fanfiction that Richard read talked out about wands like they were nothing more than crutches that limits the ability of the wizard to perform wandless magic, this is completely wrong.

First of all there is a reason why it is called wandless magic and not just magic. This shows how fundamental a wand is to a wizard and why performing magic without it is such an incredible feat.

The wand is not just a stick with a magical core inside it, it is a very powerful and intricate magical instrument that serves a lot of purposes in a wizard's life.

First the wand is an essential tool to learn magic. A wizard first learns to cast spells only through incantation and proper wand movements, only after enough practice and experience with the spell the wizard slowly removes the need for incantation and wand movements, only after reaching this level of mastery can a wizard or witch even attempt to perform the spell without a wand.

Second the wand is also a magical amplifier for the wizard. Even if a wizard has enough mastery over a particular spell that he can perform it wandlessly it will not be as strong as when it is performed with a wand. It also takes ten times as much magic when casting a spell wandlessly than with a wand.

Third the wand is a multi-purpose magical focus that has been developed and perfected over thousands of years by wand-makers. Before the modern wand was invented the wizards of that time had to carry multiple magical focuses, they needed a battle staff because the wands at that time couldn't match their magical output, they needed a defensive magical focus to defend themselves, etc. The wand at the time was only used for basic everyday magic and it was not the all-purpose magical tool it is today.

Some wizards of that time were forced to remove their bones to make a magical core out of their bone and blood to make a battle staff if they couldn't find a compatible battle staff. This is how important a proper wand is to a wizard especially when it comes to magical combat.
