The sides of the ravine shook, blood was spilled everywhere. Ants crawled everywhere as they fought against other simular looking ants, but they seemed different. The ants had a more slim waist and a bigger bottom with smaller mouths and long straight antennas. On the other hand, these other insects had a thicker body with the waist being less visible. They also had a longer mouth with beady antennas and smaller eyes.

There were also flying ones, with long thin wings and smaller bodies they weren't much different than the ones on the ground.

"Wait, aren't those termites?" Lux suddenly realized. The more he stared at them the more he recognized their shape, he had read about them before on a news article. Lux settled himself on a high stone ledge and watched from afar the gruesome battle.

They all fought it out, they seemed to be equal strength as none of them seemed to be beating each other. Lux then stared at them with a confused face, he thought that he had just eradicated all the ants but none of them seemed to be dead at all. Even the new insects didn't die either.

"Who the hell did I kill then?" Lux said to himself.

The sounds of clangs grew louder, the ants had flanked through some tunnels and had broken through the termite's defense. They started attacking from behind them.

The flying termites on the other hand started spitting red acid out of their mouths, the ants were forced to dodge it and watch out for any falling acid. This put the termites at an advantage.

The ants then adapted to the situation and started shooting rocks at the flying termites. Since they had thin delicate wings the rocks had almost killed all the flying termites, the thing was that now the ants were distracted with the flying termites and didn't see what the soldier termites were scheming.

Lux jumped up in shock, some termites entered the battlefield with black armor on. They were intelligent enough to make armor for themselves? Then black-armored termites started pummeling the ants as they were practically tanks and took barely any damage.

The ants started falling back, then a big tall ant entered from the tunnel they made. It had razor-sharp teeth and bulk muscles with a sinister look on it. It ravaged the termites with no armor, Lux could hear the screaming of desperate cries as they were torn in meager bits of flesh. The tall ant gave no mercy, it massacred the left fleet of termites leaving the armored tanks on the frontlines defenseless to any ambushes.

The termites gathered their forces to form a C-shaped formation to battle against the tall ant. The black-armored termites stormed across the battlefield and made it to the middle of the ravine, the ants had made war holes to travel across so that they wouldn't be in danger to any falling acid. The black-armored termites realized what the ants had made, a straight ticket to the back of the battlefield where they could surround the termites and win the war.

They couldn't inform the rest since they were attacked by the eastern group of ants. There were about a hundred in that group of ants making the black-armored termites forced to fight. Back to where the western fleet was, the tall ant pushed in the middle of the C-shaped formation but this was somehow anticipated and its body was penetrated by a bone spear.

One of the termites had a sharp rib bone attached to his head like a bayonet. The tall ant fell to the group and spat out blood, the ants that were with it were quickly dealt with as they captured the ant and pummeled it against the wall until it was painted in crimson blood.

"War is war, cruelty is inevitable" Lux watched in disgust.

Now with the spear termites, the termites could kill all the other normal ants. Along with their black-armored soldiers, it was clear that the termites had the upper hand. They started rushing to the middle, when they got there they didn't see the black-armored termites anymore.

The thing that happened was that after the black-armored killed the group of ants, they had lost half of their men. They decided they only had one use left to be useful in the war, they then rushed into the tunnels and clogged themselves in so no one could enter or leave.

Lux couldn't see what happened down there but knew what happened, they sacrificed themselves to kill the fleet of miners and soldiers down in the tunnels.

Now that the termites didn't have their black-armored soldiers and most of their flying troops were shot down, they were put at equal strength with the ants. They did have the spear ants but they had lost a ton of troops due to the tall and so now they had fewer men than the ants.

Lux was actually excited, it was interesting watching to watch the ants and the termites fight between each other.

The ants formed a line of soldiers, the termites didn't know what they were scheming but Lux could. They started digging up some holes and putting acid in them, they would then cover them in leaves so the oblivious termites would fall into them.

As the termites got closer to the line of ants, something happened that surprised Lux. The hole that the ants were using to traverse under the termites to the back of the battlefield for an ambush started to open up. A singular black armored termite emerged from it with two ugly wounds on its side. It then saw the trap the ants were setting for its fellow teammates and let out a deep cry.

The termites became alert and saw the traps.

They ran around the traps and started attacking the line of ants. It was a complete smackdown, with all the ants and the termites jumping on each other Lux couldn't make anything out.

Lux then felt vibrating under his feet and furrowed his brows, it was an ant trying to attack him from down below. It looked at Lux with anger, Lux looked from up top at the angry ant and didn't understand why it was mad at him. Then it started gathering some more ants, now there was a group of ants trying to get up to where Lux was.

Then one of them started climbing the wall, this made Lux scared and he was about to leave when he got a great idea. As the ant started climbing where Lux was, he summoned the Dragonskin soul band which weighed a ton and dropped it on top of the ant's head.

BOOM!

The ant's head exploded into blood, the other ants ran away in fear. Lux frowned in disappointment and resumed his eyes back to the battle between the ants and the termites.

The ants actually gained the upper hand by launching stone boulders off a stone ledge above where the termites were grouped up in. They created a tunnel up to the stone ledge but it was even near as high as where Lux was settled.

The termites were now pushed to the corner of the ravine as they fled through some ant tunnels. The ants regathered their troops and launched a full-scale attack into the tunnels, the battle resumed inside there outside of Lux's vision.

The remnants of the war were tons of bodies of termites and ants alike sprinkled around the battlefield. Since all the ants had run into the tunnels, now was the time for Lux to leave this god's forsaken place.

He climbed down, carefully carrying the little girl on his back. Once he reached the bottom he located the tunnel where they ran out of and went into it. He was lucky that not a single ant was in the tunnel and made it back to the surface, he sighed in relief.

He didn't hear the ants fighting anymore.
