Hunter

Lux gasped for air and leaped around the flying tentacles. The arms of the squid wriggled around like snakes and lashed out on Lux, using the dragon tooth dagger Lux cut one of the arms like tofu and jumped back just in time to dodge a barrage of attacks.

"Whew, this thing is tough," Lux said to himself while looking at the wound the squid had just cut open on his arm.

Lux summoned a sushi roll made up of some leaves and fish squeezed up in a roll. While mid-jump, Lux gobbled it up in a second, his body felt refreshed as his arm started to heal. The squid screamed in anger that its prey had healed itself and launched a reckless attack onto Lux.

Lux felt like he was now accustomed to this lifestyle of killing to survive and calmly dodged the attacks. The squid stuck its arms into the ground and was struggling to pull them out, Lux took the opportunity to slice off all its arms.

Shing!

The squid screamed in pain and realized its prey was stronger than itself, it started trying to dive back into the deep waters of the ocean. Lux jumped in after it, he wasn't going to let it go that easily. It shot blue acidic ink at Lux, his mobility was majorly reduced in the water so he barely dodged the attack as it scorched his left arm.

"Argh!" Lux

Lux didn't give up though and swam even faster than before towards the squid. It swung its remaining arms at Lux, Lux stabbed his dagger in the side of one of the tentacles and latched on.

Soon he'd have to go back up to breathe, so Lux wasn't keen on waiting around. He cut open the tentacle, raging the squid even more as it screeched in pain. The scream attracted all the other monsters of the sea, Lux clenched his fist and climbed up the arm of the squid.

It swung its arm around, trying to get rid of Lux but he stayed on tightly. Lux made it to the body of the squid and stabbed his dagger in the side of its head, it slid in smoothly.

Splat!

The water turned dark blue, all the monsters around the area swam back avoiding the blood. Lux grabbed the body of the dead squid and swam up out of the blood. He bursted out of the blood like a shooting star and swam with all his might to the surface. He spotted that he was being chased by three monsters, a black slithery water snake, a heavy scaled silver barracuda, and a golden blue hammer-head shark.

He gushed out of the water and gasped for air, whipping his hair to the side. He threw the corpse onto the shore and was immediately pulled back down into the water. The snake had bit his foot, blood flooded out. Lux punched the snake in its nose and was rammed by the hammer-head shark.

His body was jerked around the water, he needed to get out of this situation. Lux looked around and saw the barracuda fighting the snake, the hammer-head ignored them and went towards him. It seemed like they were fighting for him, Lux was already injured and didn't stay.

The hammerhead was pretty dumb so Lux used its head as a stepping stone and kicked it back, he launched himself up and the shark down killing two birds with one stone. He flew out of the water and swam back to shore. He saw the monster-fighting each other down in the water, he grabbed the squid corpse and quickly left.

He had been hunting monsters to raise his experience points so he could level up to level 25. Lux found a small cave and started a campfire in it.

The squid was a decent size so he cooked it up into small portions. He had realized that his appetite for eating monsters had increased for some reason. Maybe it's a perk of living in God's Mercy, Lux wasn't really sure.

He managed to eat almost the whole squid and left a small chunk of meat for Aria who was sleeping back at the camp. He ripped out the teeth of the squid, they were small so they wouldn't be used for much except another dagger which was useless to Lux. Then Lux wondered if he could make a weapon for Aria.

"It wouldn't hurt to try" Lux used the crafting recipe "Loose knife" and crafted a dagger called "Subterranean Dark Squid Dagger" there was also a rune attached to it for some reason. It had four vertical lines placed next to each other with a circle in the middle of each one of them. It was called:

Water Slice.

He used the rune and it shot a line of thin water at incredible speeds, it cut a boulder in half inside the cave.

"Holy!" Lux looked at the dagger with a dumbfounded look.

If it was just the dagger itself it wasn't enough but with a rune, it really packed a punch. Lux crafted another dagger but it didn't have a rune on it, he figured there was a chance that when you craft something there was a chance it came with a rune on it.

"Welp, I guess I can use both" Lux pulled the two daggers out.

The dragon tooth dagger was dirty white with sharp curves on one edge while the squid tooth dagger was dark blue with a black scaled grip.

Lux put the rest of the meat in his inventory and put out the campfire. He then left the cave and headed back to camp; there were too many monsters in the sea. He was almost level 24.

He spotted another monster, it was a dark long-horned buffalo. It seemed to be injured too, it was just too perfect for Lux. He used a water slice, it struck against the stomach of the buffalo.

It didn't split completely but left a deep cut on the side of the buffalo. Blood gushed out of its side as the buffalo screamed in pain and rushed Lux, its speed was very fast.

Lux didn't stand idle and moved to the side, it rammed itself onto the floor and created a huge earthquake which made Lux lose its balance and fall. He couldn't use Water Slice for another 2 minutes since there was a cool down so he pulled out the dragon tooth dagger and got up from the ground.

The buffalo growled at Lux in anger, puffing out black steam from its nose. Lux dashed towards the buffalo and used Swipe to stab it into its stomach one last time, the buffalo swerved to the side and kicked Lux in the gut. He was sent flying to the ground.

Wiping his face, Lux got up again. His leg was badly bruised up from the fall. Lux changed plans and stalled until his Water Slice had cooled down.

The buffalo stomped on the ground, puffing out more steam from its nose. Its eyes stared coldly at Lux, blood dripped from its side like crazy but didn't seem like it would kill it. Lux prepared himself for the attack.

Wam!

Lux spit out blood in shock, the buffalo hit him?

But how?

Lux was launched back at mad speeds before stopping against a rock. He looked back and saw the buffalo, it indeed hit him but Lux had no idea how it did. He blocked most of the attack with his arm but the consequences were grave, blood seeped from his fingers and spiraling cuts were made around his upper arm. It started turning purple as it was massively bruised.

His back hurt like hell, he groaned in pain.

The buffalo was now charging at Lux at full speeds, Lux was screwed if it hit him again. It would probably cripple him if it did.

Lux's eyes dilated, he sprung up and raised the squid dagger the buffalo.

Splat!

The Buffalo was spit in half mid-run as its guts slid down to the floor, it had instantly died. Lux fell to the ground in exhaustion, he looked at the half-cut buffalo and started laughing hysterically.

"Whew, that was close" Lux looked at his messed-up hand.

He bandaged it up and ate his last sushi roll. He felt his hand regenerating and cooling down. Lux got up from the ground and looked at the buffalo. He summoned his dragon tooth dagger and started cutting the meat out of the dead monster.

Lux gathered the buffalo meat and looked at the hide of it, then he looked at his shoes. They have completely torn apart and weren't really adequate for traveling, but with the buffalo hide, he could make leather boots for himself if he had a recipe for it.

After gathering all the meat and cutting up the hide of the buffalo, Lux yanked out both of its horns. He didn't have much use for their weird shape but kept them anyway.

But when he went to check his stats when he saw a red exclamation.
