Chapter 39 Conversation in the Headmaster’s Office

On the seventh floor of the castle, the Headmaster's office.

Dumbledore, who was being discussed by Andy and Hermione, was sitting in the Headmaster's office at this very moment, frowning and contemplating.

He had indeed known.

The portraits and ghosts throughout the castle were Dumbledore's eyes, and nothing that happened in the castle could escape Dumbledore's eyes - if he wanted to know.

The office was quiet, while the portraits of successive Headmasters hanging on the wall were pretending to do their own things, yet the eyes that glanced at Dumbledore from time to time had revealed their desire to hear gossip.

They were curious to know exactly how Dumbledore would handle this matter.

This was an unprecedented event that had not occurred at Hogwarts for a thousand years.

For the first time, the four major houses of the school had united as one, and their purpose was actually to oust a professor.

If the four founders of Hogwarts knew about this matter, it was unknown whether they would be mad or relieved more.

Headmaster Phineas Black, who was obviously not a very patient person, decided to say something to break the deadlock.

"In the future, I'd like to see who's going to say that Albus Dumbledore is the Greatest Headmaster of Hogwarts. When I was Headmaster, nothing this outrageous had happened in the school!"

Phineas Black's tone was a bit smug, "I heard that this incident was still started by our Slytherin students? Ha! That's a pretty good job if you ask me!"

The Headmistress Dilys Derwent didn't pay any attention to Phineas Black as she looked at Dumbledore and asked, "Albus, what are you going to do about this?"

As soon as this question came out, all the portraits stopped what they were doing at the same time, they all looked at Dumbledore, even Phineas Black was silent.

At the same time, he wants to verify something else, whether the protective magic on Harry Potter still works against Voldemort.

This child of the prophecy was the only hope Dumbledore could think of to vanquish Voldemort.

Can Dumbledore defeat Voldemort?

It is uncertain!

Because Voldemort wouldn't fight him to the death.

Since he wouldn't fight to the death, Dumbledore naturally couldn't kill Voldemort.

What's more, Voldemort has a way to avoid death.

At first, the plan actually went well.

Dumbledore asked Hagrid to pick up Harry from school and at the same time asked Hagrid to take the Philosopher's Stone that was stored in the Gringotts.

Hagrid is a careless person, and he won't avoid Harry at all.

Just like Andy said, the Headmaster couldn't go against all the students. It was the common will of all the students to oust Quirrell, and Dumbledore could only compromise.

Since the dismissal of Quirrell had become a foregone conclusion, Dumbledore naturally needed to change his plans a bit.

The rotating staircase moved slowly, and Snape, who was dressed in black robes, pushed open the door of the Headmaster's office and walked in.

He had a hint of mockery on his face, "Looks like you're in a good mood."

"Ah! Yes!"

Dumbledore wore a pleased expression, "The students are united for the first time. Let's see, what did they say? Ugh! Defending our right to learn to the death."

"In that context, Quirrell does seem a little less qualified. Miss Granger from Ravenclaw even wrote me a complaint letter earlier!"

Snape was expressionless.

"But I can't think of a reason to do that."

Dumbledore continued, "Although it's a slightly more radical way to go about it, but, writing a letter of complaint isn't exactly against school rules."

Snape wasn't going to believe Dumbledore's nonsense, he looked straight at Dumbledore and asked, "You should already have a suspicion in your mind, right?"

"..." Dumbledore was silent for a moment.

"Severus, keep an eye out on a child for me, will you?"

Dumbledore's tone was a little complicated, and he seemed to be ashamed of his behaviour.

When he finished speaking, Dumbledore took a letter out of a drawer and handed it to Snape - it was a letter of complaint from Hermione.

Snape just glanced at it lightly, and he immediately understood Dumbledore's meaning, ''You're talking about Collins? He does have some talent, but he's only eleven years old!"

"But I'm already over a hundred years old!"

Dumbledore didn't avoid Snape's gaze, "I can sense that the boy is fanatical about magic, and sooner or later he will become curious about the Dark Magic."

"Severus, we cannot stand by and watch a gifted child be led to darkness by dark magic."

"I'm afraid I won't have much time this year, so I will have to trouble you."
