It was Difficult

"Sorry to disturb you sir, but Mr. Chairman is calling you both." An assistant from reception desk of highest floor speaks politely breaking in their bickering.

Amanda slightly nodded to the bowing assistant and stands up the chair.

Mr. Cho joined her as they both push open the door of her father's office.

There was a single door after the reception desk which covers whole office. On entering, first thing one come across is the medium sized office made of glass walls on right side. There stood Mr. Alexander Collins in front of the large window at the end, gazing at the tall buildings.

The office was tastefully designed. Minimalist furniture, beside the executive desk, the glass window offers the breath-taking scenery of tall buildings and mountains. Alexander was from always a fan of designing, that's why the room was one of the most elegant and comfortable space of whole building.

"Dad." Amanda greets Alexander politely as Mr. Cho followed the suite.

Maybe because he was lost in deep thoughts, Alex's shoulders shook a little as he turned towards them.

Acknowledging them, he walks back to his chair of executive as he gestures Amanda and Mr. Cho to take seat opposite to him.

He first passed some documents to Mr. Cho and discussed about some documents. After few minutes passed, he sent back Mr. Cho and asks him to shut the door in his way.

Till then Amanda took a small tour of her father's office. Beside the office room, was the penthouse where her father usually stays these days because it was pretty inconvenient to travel around daily.

The penthouse was designed when Alexander first purchased the building, for Amanda and her mother. But halfway through its construction, the tragedy happened, vacating the beautiful house.

It was a two storeyed house with most luxurious facilities of world. Swimming pool, small theatre room, two bedrooms and a beautiful rooftop garden. All that screams the talent she admires, of her father.

Amanda leans against the balcony in the garden, watching people walking on road like ants.

She hears sound of foot steps approaching and saw Alex walking from his office. Soon he joined her in gazing people below.

"Don't worry too much dad." She says turning towards him, breaking the ice.

"Was I that bad in concealing." Alex chuckles at her daughter's words. In whole world, only she has guts to speak with him casually.

"I learnt understanding you through actions long ago." She speaks gently as Alex blames himself for not being expressive.

"Was it hard?" Alex asked.

Amanda throws a confused glance at her father.

'Please! Can't men be more outspoken. Its damn hard to understand your monosyllabism.' Amanda face palms mentally.

"Was it hard for you to leave that town and move in with your cold father?" Alex said with a distant look on his face. He somehow now understand the pain when Amanda's mother left her and she moved in with him.

"It was hard. Very hard at first." She turns to Alex who was busy self-blaming.

"…. But I understood by time that only one who should be blame is time, it stole my mother from me, forcing me to grow up. Though, I wasn't able to comprehend why you were so distant to me…. but I realize now, you also lost you wife. Your love. So, it no more hurt."

Amanda pours all her thoughts after all years of yearning. Don't know, either its because she is going back to hometown or because of the gush of emotions, she lightens up her load she's carrying for way to long. Amanda never felt so light talking to her dad before.

Alexander was listening all this with his head down with a hint of pride.

"My princess grew up well. I'm proud of you." A hint of grief was evident in his words. He pats her hair adoringly.

His matured gaze stops on her as the eyes speaks many thoughts at once.
