Chapter 7
Hunters POV
My heartbeat accelerates, my blood rushes hot through my veins and my body gets heated with anger. My hands clench into fists underneath the table and I tighten my jaw and look away.
We stay in silence for a little while until I decided to break the silence by asking another question stupidly. "What is his name?"
"I would rather not talk about it and I regret telling you in the first place."
"Why?"
"Because you are the first and only person I've told and I don't even know you yet."
"You want to get to know me? I'll pick you up at eight tomorrow night."
"Wait where are we going?"
"It's a surprise, dress casually."
"But I don't even know what time my parents are coming home tomorrow and I can't leave my baby sister at home alone my parents would kill me."
"Then call me when they get home."
"What if they come home after midnight?"
"Then we will go the following day same time."
Before she can protest anymore the waiter brings the bill and I pay.
"Let me see your napkin for a minute." She gives me her napkin no questions asked.
I take a look at the napkin and I find a phone number left by the waiter. I tear it off and put it in the cup of water.
"What was that?"
"Nothing let's go."
She stands up and we walk out of the mall, I drop her off at her house after arguing and finally agreeing that I'll fetch her tomorrow morning so that she can fetch her car.
Her house is huge and modern, probably bigger than mine. It's covered in glass from the ground to the roof. It's practically a modern mini castle or mega-mansion.
She waves goodbye to me after I open the door for her and she disappears into her mini castle just like a princess.
Lilith's POV
The following day Hunter picks me up right on time and my sister goes with our driver since my car is back at school.
"So about the date." My parents called me and let me know there were some difficulties and they were ambushed on the way to the airport by a group of vampires but everything is sorted now and they will be returning home a bit later than expected since they missed their flight.
"Umm, my parents had some difficulties with a client and had to reschedule their flight so I don't think today is going to work." I enjoyed my day with Hunter yesterday and with every minute I spend with him I feel more myself, happier, and freer.
"Okay, princess." Something about him saying that word to me feels weird. I am a princess by birthright so I am kind of used to being called that back at home but coming from him it feels weird but in a good way.
As we come out of the car together people start to stare. I walk into the school and meet up with Ann and quickly separate from Hunter.
"Why did you just walk into the school with Hunter and where did you disappear to yesterday?" Ann asks me.
"Long story."
"I have time."
"Umm well I wasn't feeling well so Hunter decided to take me home but he also took me to the mall to get me some food and he fetched me today since I left my car here at school." I know I just told my only friend in this school a partial lie but she would freak out if I told her everything.
"Mhm." She squints her eyes and looks me up and down. "Anyways the tryout results are out and are posted on the news board so let's go see if we cut."
We go to the news board and both of our names are on the first team. We both scream as Ann has made wide receiver and I have made quarterback.
"Practice starts next week don't be late, the coach has slight anger issues and you do not want to get on her bad side."
"I will be there I promise, now can we please go to class."
English class was a bore as always but I always managed to get good marks there, the trick is to score marks in your essays, and speeches, and prepared and unprepared reading. Therefore you don't have to worry much about the tests.
"So class your homework is on page 56 write in your poetry books and don't forget to bring the novel tomorrow. The bell will ring in a few minutes so please pack up."
The whole class started to pack up and before we know it was already lunchtime.
I and Ann go to our usual table with our lunch and a few seconds later Hunter and a few other guys join us. Ann looks at them with displeasure on her face when she turns to look at me.
"What are you guys doing here?" I look at Hunter.
"We saw the news board and congrats on making the first team." Hunter takes a seat next to me.
"Thanks but that still doesn't answer my question."
"We having a party tonight to celebrate all new teams including the swim team, soccer team, football team, track team, basketball team, wrestling team, and cheerleading team."
Ryan says I recognize him from the party.
"Umm okay, we will be there," Ann says with a smile. I can never know what's going on in this girl's mind because one minute she can't stand the presence of Hunter and his crew and the next she is excited to be near them. I decide to go with her and see what happens.
The guys and Ann have a conversation about the party but my eyes start to roam off into the side lawn of the cafeteria and my ears block any sound. I see a dark figure in the bushes standing there and just looking my way.
I get goosebumps but something is not allowing me to look away as if I'm in a trance.
"Lilly…" the figure does not move an inch and continues to stare through the glass window.
"Lily…" it's as if it is stealing my soul as I start to feel light and dizzy.
"Lily." Someone taps me on the back."
"Huh...what?" I look away and see Hunter looking at me with concern on his face.
"Are you okay?"
"Umm…yeah I'm fine, wha…what were we talking about.?"
"Ann was thinking that maybe we should have lunch first just us." It was going to be me, Ann, Hunter, Aiden, and Ryan only and I was okay with that so why not.
"Sure what time?" I ask.
"How about after school."
"That sounds great." I look back to the side lawn but the figure is gone a chill runs down my spine.
"Excuse me for a second I need to use the bathroom."
I stand up and go to the bathroom and rinse my face with cold water. Maybe it was nothing and I was just seeing things.
