Diana

Sarah had quickly surrounded the mob with a large ice wall to trap them as well as protect them from an Adrian going mad. She saw that no one was harmed and sighed in relief. Lily, who had snatched the knife from the student she had tackled down. It was a diminutive boy. She took out his wallet to check his identity.

"A first year?" She murmured.

When she took a look at the person who had taken down the second assailant and was surprised. She was not the only one. Delilah who was the target of that assailant almost cried out while Adrian was slightly surprised. The reason he had panicked was that he realized that none of the council had reacted in time to protect Delilah. Diana looked at that person with a shocked and reminiscent smile as her eyes flickered. Sarah was the only one who appeared to think it was only natural.

Sarah had understood that Ryan was probably letting the events play out so he could scope out the situation, so she was not really worried that they were in any danger, though failing to secure Delilah really showed that their defense was vulnerable.

The person who saved Delilah paid no attention to this as he calmly frisked the assailant, noting their identity, checking their person. He noticed a needle jab in his arm, which he took a photograph of. He then turned the person over to see that they were unconscious. However, he continued to examine the person, opening their eyelids to notice that their pupils were dilated on a bright day. He took a look at the knife. It was coated with a sticky substance.

After examining the individual he calmly looked at the others and nodded.

"I will report this incident to the principal. Please take care of the knives, they are coated with a powerful neurotoxin that can be fatal." He said as he left the third assailant in their hands and took off from the scene, while Sarah nodded and sealed the knives in ice blocks so that they could not be misused.

After he left, the others turned to each other before Adrian asked no one in particular.

"Who is that guy?"

"That, my dear King, is Ryan Holmes, our dear Sarah's new project partner." Lily joked sarcastically.

Adrian ignored her sarcasm while Sarah elaborated further.

"He messaged me that some low tiers were looking to create trouble, that's how I got to inform you all."

Suddenly out of nowhere, Diana sighed. The girl who always had an emotionless poker face on suddenly smiled. When the others saw that they were even more surprised.

"...Diana? You ok? You are smiling?" Adrian asked.

However, Diana ignored him as she looked towards Ryan's quickly vanishing silhouette as he disappeared into the school building.

"Diana, it looks like you know that guy?" Lily, who was always looking for gossip asked.

Meanwhile, the authorities had already arrived on the scene while the weather suddenly changed. The authorities quickly took control of the situation and Lily's gossip was interrupted.

"You can leave this location now. Please head back into the building. This place is off limits for now." An officer ordered them.

"Damn, the principal got angry again. The weather is becoming stormy." Lily commented.

"Let us go to the student council room, let the authorities handle this.", Adrian said and the others followed him back.

In the council room.

"The frustrations over the Meel district incident have boiled over to such an extent that low tiered students ganged up to beat up high tiered students.", Adrian commented.

"Well, those guys were known bullies.", Lily smirked, which left Adrian speechless.

"It's those assailants which worry me. The others are just naive rabble-rousers.", Sarah sighed. "Their attack seemed so premeditated. They were so fast as well. Adrian, Delilah and I were completely frozen in surprise and couldn't do anything."

"Th-that, I want to thank that person for saving me.", Delilah teared up as she remembered what happened. "I-it was all so sudden, I thought I would die."

"It's alright Deli, don't cry." Lily tried to soothe her.

"Diana, why are you so quiet? Did you notice anything?" Sarah asked. She had been inwardly curious about Diana's reaction when she saw Ryan.

'Does she know him? It looked like she recognized him immediately.' Sarah felt weird about that and she did not realize it herself. Diana looked at her and then asked a question.

"How long have you known... him?" She asked in a bizarre tone.

"A couple of weeks? He was in my class the previous year as well as this one, but we did not really interact much before we partnered up for a project." Sarah answered, puzzle evident in her tone.

"Oh.." Diana looked upwards toward the ceiling. "To think he has been here all along. I am so stupid."

The atmosphere had suddenly turned super weird.

"Diana, can you please stop talking to yourself in riddles? You are confusing us even further. Is there any history between you and Ryan Holmes?" The exasperated Adrian asked for everyone's sake, to which Diana nodded.

"He is my combat instructor.", Diana said matter of factly.

"H-he what?", everyone exclaimed in shock.

"He is-was my combat instructor when I was in middle school. He taught me for three years."

"Wow, like I had guessed he is some kind of secret expert!" Lily whistled.

"As if. He is a mixed martial art genius and was asked to teach me his techniques. But his ability is only low tiered minor levitation." Diana answered, with sadness in her voice.

"Oh, how unfortunate. So essentially he can compete with us for now, but his potential is low." Adrian said matter of factly.

The fact of life was ability wasn't everything. Personal capability and effort were equally important. However, one's life is forever limited by the potential of their ability. Many sad geniuses have fallen to the wayside over time due to this simple fact, they could not escape from their fates of low tiered abilities.
