The lyrics

My phone rang and I pulled it out of my pants. I glanced at the screen and I saw it was Jake calling and I felt energised with elation, I instantly picked up the call, "Jake. Hi dear?"

"What's up cookie?"

I let out a chuckle, "I wanna be with you. I know that I have to be at the band right now, but I can't make it."

Jake slowly turned and he looked at Ray, Troy, Bruce and Ricky who were nattering in the middle of the room in the studio.

Jake looked away from them, and his lips curved into a smile. He leaned over the wall curving his leg and he sank his hand into his pocket.

Leila wore a flashy brown guitar strumming through the strings and singing softly. She glanced at the smile sitting on Jake's face and she immediately guessed that he was speaking to me and she was unsettled.

"It's alright, but you realize that the band cannot perform without you yet since you wrote a song for the band."

"I really wanna make it there but, " I rubbed my throat, "my throat is itchy as I might have sniffed a lot of flour."

"Why? Why today? I wrote that song so I can sing it to the band and so Jake will listen as I wrote it for him, "I thought in my mind, "I want him to hear me sing the lyrics."

I jolted out of my thoughts as Jake's voice slightly banged my ears, "Hello! Hello, are you still there?"

"Yes, I am Jake. I promise that once I get better, I will make it to the band so we can start to rehearse my song." I sniffed.

"Don't worry baby. Just concentrate on getting better. I love you! I love you so much."

"I love you more." My cheeks blushed.

Leila grabbed Jake's phone and hung up the call. She stood in front of Jake since quite a few minutes and was feeling quite irritated.

"Hey, why did you do that?"

Leila frowned upon him, "so what's going on? Is that b*tch coming? I don't want to even catch a glimpse of her."

"Hey, hey, take it easy, " Jake touched her arms, "you know we need her. What if anyone hears you speaking that way? It will ruin the plan."

"Why do I have to still pretend to be nice to Trina?" Leila argued, "you have got the lyrics to her song. Isn't that the reason why you befriended her in the first place? You should have ended the relationship between the two of you since you have gotten her lyrics."

Jake frowned upon her, "not so fast Leila!" He said firmly.

"Hey guys, Leila and Jake have been talking for some minutes now." Said Bruce.

"It doesn't seem like they are just talking." Said Ricky

"Yea it seems more like they are arguing. Leila looks outraged." Said Troy

"Why don't we go check what's going on?" Said Ray

Leila gasped, "I can't believe you Jake. Why do you wanna still be with that ugly Trina?"

Jake noticed that Bruce, Ray, Troy and Ricky are approaching and he muttered, "pipe it down the dudes are almost here."

Leila quietly turned and glanced at them.

Ray, Troy, Bruce and Ricky paused beside them.

"Guys, you two have been conversing with each other without involving us. I don't know, is there anything that the band should know? What have you two been discussing?" Bruce folded his arms.

Leila felt quite nervous, "guys, it's nothing that....., " Jake cut her off, "about the new song I wrote." He smiled wildly.

Ray's and Troy's eyes widened in shock and Bruce and Ricky lips curved into a smile.

"Wow, dude. Weldon." Said Bruce

"Yea we are so impressed with you? I didn't know you have it in you to write a song. I mean, in the past, you could not even make up two or three lines to write." Said Ricky.

"I can't believe that you wrote a song for the band. You always feel lazy to write a song or even try. So what inspired you to write something?" Said Troy.

"Ever since I met Trina, I've been head over heels for her, that I can't help but express the way I feel towards her."

Leila rolled her eyes in anger and moaned silently.

"So dude let's hear the song you wrote." Bruce said grinning excitedly.

"Hold on, my note pad is in my trousers, " Jake pulled it out and Troy burst into laughter glancing at the notebook, "hold on, you use a lady's notepad?"

"Don't be silly Troy, I just picked up my sister's book as I was really looking for something to draft on."

"So let's hear your song." Said Ricky.

Jake glanced at the note pad, and he started to sing quite aloud,

"I think I'm losing my mind,

You're the only one in my mind yeah. Yeah...."

Bruce exclaimed, "Wow!"

"That sounded really good bro." Said Troy.

"Yea, the lyrics is so deep." Said Ricky.

"What're we still waiting for? Let's hurry and start rehearsing." Said Bruce.

"Of course!" Ray nodded and they hurried to the studio.
