Stuck on the road

It was 8:25 p.m that same day. The weather was frosty and breezy. I was already changed into my dress and so was Jake.

We walked towards the parking lot and approached Jake's car. The people at the resort were now few and I could no more hearing humming in the air.

Jake clenched the door to the front seat and he pulled the door open. I smiled at him and entered the car seat and he shut the door.

He turned from the door and he started to the door to the driving seat. He got in and he drove out of the lot and out the resort.

He drove up the highway. I felt quite sleepy and tired and yawned loudly. I leaned my neck over the chair slowly shutting my eyes.

Jake glanced at me and said, "are you falling asleep? It's just been five minutes I've been driving."

I quickly sat up and widely opened my eyes. I shook my head, "no I'm not falling asleep."

"It's okay if you want to sleep. Your house is still a bit far."

My cheeks blushed that he's considerate. I still felt sleepy. The seat felt comfy and soft, and relaxing how could I not easily fall asleep?

Jake noticed that the car was no more driving on a high speed. He was shocked cause his SUV do not suddenly stop speeding and he slowly swiveled the car to the side of the road and parked it.

I realized that the car was no longer moving and I could no longer feel drowsiness in my bones as I felt alarmed.

"What happened?"

I looked at Jake stepping out of the car and I stepped out too. He glanced at the car tyres and noticed that the front tyres are flat. He got quite jittery and sighed.

I felt something was wrong staring at him acting dramatically.

"What's wrong?" I raised an eyebrow.

"It's the tyres, " he replied, "they are busted. But don't worry. I'm calling up my mechanic."

I panicked, "but it's 8:35. When is your mechanic gonna make it here?" I glanced left and right and observed trees at the sides of the road.

"Are you even sure this road is safe? What if there are bad guys lurking around? Or kidnappers?"

"Trina, there is nobody."

"But this road is quite quiet and lonely what if..." He cut me off, "Trina, Trina there is no thug out here and even if there is, I won't let anything hurt or happen to you. You will be safe in my arms."

I felt quite calm and I stared into his eyes.

He touched my shoulder, "Trina, you should not worry. I am here, i'd rather let myself get hurt than letting anything or anyone touch or hurt you."

My eyes were getting soaked with tears, and I felt like hugging him.

He held his phone and texted his mechanic.

"He will be here soon." He slid his phone into his pocket and leaned against the car.

I listened to hums of cars driving by. Lampposts were stationed at the roadside. They glistened the road so brightly that I could observe a billboard at quite a far distance.

The wind blew quite heavily, it caressed me and I shivered almost like a leaf. The wind shook my hair and I noticed Jake's hair shaking. He flung the strands of his hair off his face and the wind threw the strands back on his face.

"I'm feeling cold Jake."

"I don't feel comfortable either and I don't have a jacket to clothe you."

"When's the mechanic gonna appear?" I looked up the road.

"Don't worry he's on his way."

Jake felt disturbed staring at me shaking and he advanced towards me. I looked at him and I wondered why he stood so close to me.

"It's frigid and I have an idea that will help keep us warm."

"What is it?"

"Since our bodies are conductors of heat, I'm guessing...."

"You're guessing what?"

"That we embrace each other to keep our bodies warm. I don't wanna fall sick and you don't want to fall sick either."

For my crush, nothing will make me happier than to be besides him 24|7 or in his arms. I nodded, "alright."

He loosened the buttons on his shirt and I looked at his bare chest and he stood closer to me, I felt quite jittery.

I hugged him and he chuckled. I moved from his arms, "what's wrong?"

"How's my body gonna conduct heat to your body with your blouse on?"

"But if I take off my blouse, I'll only be in my vest." I argued.

"That's the only way it will work."

I sighed, "okay."

I pulled out my blouse and I glanced at my vest to make sure my bust curves were not revealing. It wasn't. He pulled me into his arms hugging me tightly.

His body felt so warm and soft and I was no more feeling the chills of the breeze. I felt comfortable and did not want to move from his arms even a split second.

He slowly moved from my arms and I was starting to feel freeze by the weather. He stared into my eyes and I stared into his. He leaned in and he kissed my lips affectionately.

I felt quite stunned and felt my heart racing fast.

He slowly moved his face away and I softly asked, "what does this mean? Am I now your girlfriend?"

He stroked my cheek and nodded in reply, "yeah."

My lips curved into a smile, "then I love you too."

I laid my hand on his cheek and tears formed in my eyes. I could not believe that it is now finally real, that my dream has come true.

"Yes, you are girlfriend singer and I won't ever ditch you."

I excitedly pulled him into a hug. I rubbed his hair gently, "my Jake."
