Chapter 3— Target

Shen Yao wanted to rebuke and denounce the system yet given his current situation, he could only walk the silent road, hoping to find his target however, it has been a long time since he strolled the street yet, he still hadn't spotted anyone.

"Where can I even find that person?" He mumbled.

[ Do you wish to check the target's information?]

As expected, the System replied even without his permission so he could only either ignore it or reply.

" What? my target had information? that'll be helpful! " After saying this, he heard 'ding' sound accompanied by digital information that suddenly popped up

Target: Xiao Ye

Sex: Male

strength: 180

Weapon: Double-edged knife

Element: Metal

Shen Yao was mesmerized, "Wow.. how could he have an element while I don't?" naturally, the annoying system would answer him

[ The host must first know that the current body doesn't have any elemental essence ]

Shen Yao was about to reply when he heard footsteps coming from behind him. He immediately alerted himself and turned to

look behind him but no one was there

" Who is it?" Said Shen Yao as he subconsciously clenched his fist, preparing for any bad situations

"Show yourself" If it wasn't for the dim lights

of the neighborhood, Shen Yao would've

thought that no one could hear him if he were to scream and that the mysterious person would confidently show himself and kill Shen Yao with no difficulties. Thinking that someone might kill him, he suddenly felt goosebumps all over and couldn't help but gulp down his saliva.

He waited for someone to come out but there wasn't even a single soul that greeted him so Shen Yao thought that he might be just imagining things

just as he was about to sigh in relief, a tall, dark figure suddenly lunged at him from

the darkness at an indescribable speed, running past him

Shen Yao didn't have time to react and instantly fell on his butt. He hissed and glanced at his right shoulder where the black cloth was cut open revealing a bloody wound.

Another footstep can be heard from behind him, but this time he managed to leap in the air and narrowly avoided death

The road was smashed yet the sound wasn't loud for anyone to hear. Shen Yao traced the silver knife that was stabbed into the ground with his gaze and soon, his eyes stopped at the half kneeling person that was holding the knife.

The guy lifted his face, revealing clear green eyes and a smile on his lips that doesn't seemed good at all.

"This... this is Xiao Ye?"

Seeing this, his back shivered and he subconsciously wanted to run if it wasn't for the system reminding him

[ Target found ]

or rather, it found me.

The guy seemed to sense his fear and immediately retrieved its knife, aiming for his throat this time. Shen Yao, who was defenseless, could only run for his little life avoiding and dodging the knife that aimed for every inch of him

"Hey, stop!" However, the man didn't listen to him and instead, quickened his movements. At this rate, Shen Yao knew that if he continued like this, he would be doomed so he called out to the system.

Yet after calling several times, the system seemed to die and didn't answer him even if he repeatedly called out to it

"What the hell—" Shen Yao rolled to the ground as the man once again tried to stab him

'what should I do?' he gritted his teeth as he search for any weapons he could use. Finally, his eyes caught sight of a heavy brick

Just the right amount of force would make the man fall unconscious but too much would also kill him

Shen Yao shook at the idea of killing someone, after all, this person also wanted to kill him so what's the point of keeping him alive?

Once he made up his mind, Shen Yao once again run towards the huge brick but little did he know that there was a huge crack on the road which was caused by the knife! unfortunately, he stepped on the hole and fell on his knees just in time to avoid the knife that was about to slash his nape but

the sudden impact made his knees numb as the crimson red blood flowed from his knees making him unable to get up in addition to that is his already weak body

"I can't die yet, I can't die yet!!" Shen Yao encouraged himself to crawl on the dry Rocky Road he didn't know why he kept telling himself to stay alive when he didn't even accept the mission. Since his mind was in a panic, he couldn't explain why he wanted to stay alive

for what? to be killed by them?

"Stop running, you're doomed to die" A deep voice sounded from behind him

"Do you know that when a weak butterfly is trapped in a spider web, moving too much would only make them suffer"

The guy's steps slowed down as it approached him to step by step watching how this weak victim of his would crawl to escape

"You're just one of my victims. That's all. Don't worry, I'll be gentle"

Upon hearing this, Shen Yao suddenly felt enraged 'I can't die—'

with a groan, Shen Yao managed to get up, grab the brick and smash it to Xiao Ye's face without care whether or not he'd die.

Unexpectedly, Xiao Ye was too confident and easily put his guard down not expecting his victim to attack him with its remaining strength at all so with a thud, the unconscious Xiao Ye fell to the ground and his weapon fell with clang as it hit the ground.

Shen Yao who felt Victorious and hurt also fell to the ground, as he gasped for air, he used his remaining strength to glance at the unconscious man with his head bleeding. Just as he was about to close his eyes and forget everything that had happened tonight, the system sounded

[ Mission complete. Now, please take Master Xiao Ye back]

"What?" Shen Yao coughed in distress

"Are you kidding me, he almost killed me and now you're telling me to take him back?! What if he tries to kill me again huh? and where were you!"

The moon shone brightly, reflecting the young man carrying a guy, bigger than him. They were both wearing black robes, the only difference is that the other's robe was long enough to touch the ground while the unconscious one's clothes were enough to cover his feet

The young man in black kept on mumbling something that sounded like a silent curse to the unconscious guy while dragging him with all his might

the little guy looked like a princess while doing this.

"You— Why did I even agree to this? This is unfair!–eek— Ugh..so... heavy. .ugh"

.....

"I.....feel like.....my back is breaking...."

He groaned and whispered as he climbed the mountain. Once he arrived, he instantly dropped the still unconscious man on the cold floor before finally squatting down to rest. Shen Yao then knocked at the system

[How can I help you, host?]

Shen Yao was catching his breath and since he was mumbling, his voice was naturally hoarse. "What do you want me to do now?" He didn't know what to say or if he should scold this naughty System all he knows is that he was tired and had no energy to f*ck with the system

[ The system shall give you the one-week supply. Please wait]

With that, a sudden 'ding' echoed and a box of goods appeared out of nowhere, startling Shen Yao awake. After seeing that the box had finally appeared, Shen Yao felt satisfied and reached out to take a look.

It was indeed a full supply of goods!

Shen Yao glanced at the unconscious man behind him and scoffed

"You got none!" He subconsciously mumbled

before turning to the box again, however, after looking back at the man, and hesitating, he suddenly felt guilty so he took a basin of water from the side and ripped off the edge of his long long robe with Xiao Ye's double-edged knife Then, soaked the cloth until it was wet before carefully wiping the man's face. Now that it is clean, Shen Yao couldn't help but stare at it for a while while aiding his wound.

He concluded that this Xiao Ye would attract so many girls if he clean himself every day.

As he thought of this, he suddenly felt sleepy and his vision slowly turned hazy. He got up and returned the basin outside before slowly walking back inside to check on the unconscious Xiao Ye

"I...ill check my looks tomorrow.." was his last sentence before he dropped to the cold floor, next to Xiao Ye, face first.

Xiao Ye woke up right after and what greeted him was complete darkness. He was startled at first but as a stray kid who's fond of killing people in the dark, he easily composed himself and wiped off the thing that was covering his face. For some reason, he felt agitated as to who or what was the thing lying next to him, giving him warmth

As he glance at his side, he saw an unconscious man lying beside him, face tilted to the opposite side while his both hands were spread wide to the floor, his wide sleeves spread out as well making him look both gorgeous and peaceful yet if one would look at his face They would surely notice his pale face that Is getting paler and paler by the second.

Xiao Ye concluded that it must be this person's wide sleeves that covered his face. He pursed his lips before lifting the guy's head in an attempt to see his face and was immediately stunned when he saw that the guy's face was pale—He was losing blood!

Honestly speaking, this wasn't his first time seeing a bloody corpse because he is a killer and he always make sure that they would be lifeless before hiding again but now that he is encountering a person who was on the verge of dying, he felt a very tiny sense of panic for he don't know anything aside from killing and judging from his state he knew that this person must have helped him clean up his messy face and bloody wounds that he acquired while battling with the bandits earlier this morning. But what should he do?

Xiao Ye glanced at his knife and then at the person lying, breathing heavily as if enduring something he then remembered that his knife has its own life which was bound to the owner it would naturally follow its master's will. During the fight with someone, he would order his knife to suck the blood of that victim as much as possible to weaken them and if he were able to escape, he definitely wouldn't be rescued before he lost blood.

Now, thinking about this, his sharp gaze landed on the person beside him. This was his victim. How could his victim that he attempted to kill, help him, and even cleaned his wound when this victim of his even tried to kill him back then? Xiao Ye sneered and thought ' kind people are meant to die' he slowly raised his knife and aimed at the person's back.

Xiao Ye's gaze shifted in another direction

"There!" He ordered, firmly. His knife immediately understood and flew outside the broken window escaping from its master's grip.

"Sh*t. " The guy also jumped outside, leaving the unconscious person on the cold floor.

He stopped and turned around

"I know what to do" he mumbled as the strong wind blew making his inky black hair flutter in the wind together with the tall leaves.

The night was deep. Everyone is probably asleep in their homes, together with their families. There is no storm yet the wind was too strong as if it indicates a strong storm coming, the wind's howl can be heard.

The icy moon shone brightly above the roof of a small poorly maintained house. The roof had holes Therefore allowing the moon's glow to enter and serve as a faint light for the people inside the room.

A rustle can be heard inside as a tall man rummaged through the things inside. After finding the things he wanted, he sat down next to the unconscious Shen Yao and begin to sew his wound in a poker face.

After doing this, he ripped off Shen Yao's sleeve that was slashed by him and used it to hastily wrap around his wounded shoulder next, he tear the edge, of Shen Yao's robe, cut it in half, and then wrapped it at his bleeding knees After doing all of this, he sighed and dropped to the floor with contempt on his face, he thought that this guy made him do unnecessary things.

With his cheeks propped up, Xiao Ye glared at the unconscious man and thought that if he doesn't wake up, he would proceed to his original plan to his prey and then use his house as a new base.

While thinking of this, he can't help but smile and he unconsciously licked his lips. He scanned his surroundings with his narrowed light green eyes where a hint of madness could be seen. He was like a cheetah, waiting for the death of his prey so that he could enjoy it to his heart's content

chew on his bones and drink its blood until dawn. All of this would be done silently in the dark while no one is watching and in the morning, everything will be back to normal, and this person's existence will be forgotten.

Two hours had passed since Shen Yao had passed out and since he had been lying on the cold floor, he felt his whole body shiver as he tried to spread his arms, attempting to find a blanket or whatsoever but there wasn't a thing. Shen Yao finally managed to open his eyes with great difficulty and immediately felt strange it didn't take too long for him to realize that he was almost stripped!

with a startled expression, he turned his head to the man sitting beside him, his hand propped up on his cheeks while his other hand was holding a silver double-edged knife however, his beautiful eyes were closed and his lips were tightly pursed. Soon, beads of sweat formed on the youngster's forehead as if he was enduring something. Shen Yao was scared yet he tried to muster some courage to wake Xiao Ye up.

With a yelp, Xiao Ye opened his eyes and stared at the man in front of him with a blank expression on his face. They were both face to face yet no one dared to speak until Shen Yao decided to look away first

"Mm..." Shen Yao didn't know what to say in front of this guy who just tried to kill him

well everyone will try and kill him sooner or later so what should he be afraid of? he thought that maybe the system has a reason for making him find this Xiao Ye and so, he sighed and opened his mouth to speak but Xiao Ye had beat him to it

"I didn't know you would wake up," Xiao Ye said as he stood up "Since you helped me, I'll just spare you for now. But if we ever meet again, I'll make you suffer a painful death" He said before starting to walk away.

Shen Yao was stunned, really leave just like that? He immediately grabbed Xiao Ye's robe and amidst his disdain, he said

"S-stay"
