In the command center of the underground secret base, the President was confronted with screens filled with various explosions. However, as the camera angle shifted, the deafening roars gradually subsided in the President's ears.

"Mr. President... the first round of attacks... was ineffective!" The general by the President's side spoke with a deep tone, his face serious.

In truth, this base could only detect the results of their own weapons' attacks against Dormammu. While the attack that Dormammu had initiated upon breaking through the Earth's atmosphere was led by the United States, they knew that weapons launched by other countries and factions were equally ineffective.

After all, the United States was relatively confident in this regard. If their weapons had no effect, then other nations and factions couldn't possibly possess more potent weapons.

In the areas shrouded in Dormammu's dark energy below, numerous cities were instantly plunged into darkness. Sunlight could not penetrate Dormammu's thick dark energy. 

The sudden disappearance of sunlight triggered panic among countless people. Ordinary citizens in various cities ran out to the open streets and squares, looking up at the sky.

Initially, some people thought it was an unexpected total solar eclipse. However, as they noticed the rapidly descending black mist that obscured the entire sky, a heavy feeling settled in their hearts.

Although Dormammu's approach was terrifying, most people managed to remain calm and sought official explanations to ease their anxiety.

However, in the face of Dormammu's attack, official explanations were in short supply. Were they supposed to say that this vast black mist was a super-terrifying extraterrestrial lifeform that could devour even nuclear bombs?

Before the two spaceships descended through the atmosphere, Lin Rui and his team had reappeared on Earth through a Spatial Teleportation gate. However, even with their combined efforts to deplete Dormammu's dark energy, they had no way to deal with him now.

In the cosmic environment, Lin Rui and his team could use their powers without restraint because it wouldn't harm their surroundings. However, it was different now. With the current strength and energy levels they possessed, even a minor slip could cause catastrophic disasters to the cities below.

"Could it be that I really can't protect Earth this time?! This isn't how the story is supposed to go!!" Hovering in the sky and watching the continuing descent of the dark energy toward the continent below, Lin Rui felt an urgent sense of anxiety.

To combat Dormammu, Lin Rui had already exerted all of his powers. 

Whether it was the enhancement of his own abilities, the assistance of his allies, the Ancient Ones, or even the power of Asgard, not to mention the unexpected help from the Guardians of the Galaxy and Star-Lord's father, Ego, all these resources constituted everything Lin Rui could use against Dormammu. 

If even this wasn't enough to stop Dormammu, Lin Rui truly didn't know how to protect Earth.

"Jackson, Earth truly can't be defended this time..." Thor, who was surrounded by various thunderstorms, flew to Lin Rui's side, his voice equally grave.

After uttering those words, Thor transformed into a bolt of lightning and pierced through the black mist, heading straight for New York City. Their efforts against Dormammu had failed, so Thor was determined to rescue his beloved before Dormammu could completely devour Earth.
