Curiosity

"Another world line connected to E-1's door?" Noel stared at it for a moment before shaking it off her mind. She put down the file and looked away.

'It's not like a door can feed me, no?' Noel grumbled and check the desk drawers. After opening the third one, Noel discovers two keys silently plopping there.

'There are other two doors in the right corridor.' Noel thought and grabbed the keys. After checking the room one more time, Noel left the room and proceed to go to the nearest door.

Reaching her hand out and twisting the knob, it sure was locked. Noel picks a key and tried it, hearing the 'click' sounded, she opened the door.

It was a room as big as the lounge room but unlike the small room filled with documents, the place looked like a junk hovel. There were racks in all the corners of the room and a large table set in the center.

Above the table were machine parts and countless devices that Noel don't know the uses for. There are also devices that we're half-assembled in the table.

'Unlike the labs that I'd sneak in before that focuses on drugs advancements, this laboratory seems like for machinery invention and production.' Noel thought as she pushed the metals on the table with her knife.

Being drowned in curiosity, Noel slowly scans the room, her eyes will be unwittingly drawn to possible weapons she can use.

While checking out a feasible weapon in the far left corner of the table, Noel's elbow grazed hard at a screen. Rubbing her aching elbow, Noel directed a grievous glare at the screen and watch it flicker.

'Wait, it's functional!'

Curiosity-driven, Noel repeatedly patted the screen, and like it's responding, the screen will flicker every time she taps.

After minutes of tapping, Noel finally runs out of patience and decided to use the move the old teacher taught her to do when fixing faulty appliances.

*Thump*

Noel slapped the screen real hard and as expected, the flickering screen is no more.

'What that old teacher taught me is always so useful.' Noel thought and proceed to watch the blurry image presented to her.

Under the dim light of the room, Noel watches in shock as she saw the room was twice as big as the room she's in now. And unlike this junkie room, the other room was neat.

Amid the giant room, there was a large circular apparatus with various glowing cords connected to it.

This scene fascinated Noel who rarely seen functional giant machines. As of now, she'd already used one key, which means the other key was used to the door in the far right of the corridor.

And if she's right, the other door is where this giant apparatus she's seeing is located.

'Should I go and see?'

Growl~

While thinking of her next actions, Noel's empty stomach rung and it broke her train of thoughts.

"Might as well eat before going there." Since the place is safe, she can loosen up and eat.

Noel made a beeline to the lounge area and ate her food sparingly. While eating the dry biscuits, Noel glanced at the key left on the table, determined to check out the locked door in the corridor.

Her burning desire to see what's on the other side of the locked door made Noel recall a saying that her old teacher keeps saying. (As it was the only saying he knows.)

Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.
