Her New Neighbors

15 year old Mýa has lived in the woods with her family for her entire life. She lives with her dad in the first house in the woods, her uncle lives in the second house deeper in the woods, her great grandparents used to live in a house by the opening of the woods and owner a trailer they rented out, and her cousins live the farthest in the woods closest to the river. Her mom died giving birth to her so she lives with her dad and their pets/animals. Her life has always been pretty simple, she would play in the woods, fish, hike, tend gardens, take care of her animals, go boating, have bonfires, play softball, go to school, and always hang out with her family. Things changed, however, when her great grandfather passed away and something needed to be done with his property. After a lot of clean up and repair, it was decided that it was time to sell his house, sheds, and trailer. They happened to find the perfect family of three who wanted to buy all of the property and fix it up. That is where this story starts. •~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~ I had been planning to make this novel for some time but decided to make it now because it fit this contest entry needs. It is a Sweet Love romance that has some funny parts, a modern teen view point, and a independent feminist female lead. I also am working on Sealed With Blood, and I have a book called Coincidentally Fated that is at a bit of a stand still. There are no major misunderstandings or abuse or any type of suggestive parts. This is not my cover, all rights go to the original creator. This is a fast paced book. •~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~ Sneak Peaks "I think it would take a very long time for the neighbor girl to fall for him." He stared at her intensely before asking "So you really have never had a boyfriend before?" "I haven't let any other guy be close to you. I wouldn't want anyone else to have this with you." "Me Too..."

New Bestfriend?

Mýa turned around and saw Zeke coming towards her. She stopped walking and felt worried for some reason. She hoped he didn't hear what just happened and didn't want him to think the wrong way about her and Liam. She also didn't know why she was worried about those things.

"Hey Mýa. I thought you weren't coming. What didn't you tell me?" Zeke asked when be got closer to Mýa.

Mýa apologized. "I wasn't intending to come but my friends kept pushing for me to go. I gave up and decided to come to the game for the first time. I just didn't think about tell you, sorry."

"It's ok, just text me next time you know I will be where you are. Who is this?" Zeke said. He watched Mýa closely for her reaction.

"Oh! This is Liam, I met him earlier today and him and his friends have been hanging out with us for a little while. Liam this is Zeke."

Liam looked at Mýa then Zeke and smiled. "It's nice to meet you Zeke." Liam said as he shook Zeke's hand.

Zeke returned the handshake. "You too." He said.

Liam looked at Mýa and said, "I should go the game is going to start soon and my friends and I should get back to our seats." He then quietly said, "I understand why you like him, he's cool. You should tell him, not hide it." to Mýa so only she heard it.

Mýa lightly blushed. She shook her head slightly and gave a small smile as Liam walked away. She hoped that Zeke didn't notice her facial expressions.

Zeke did notice her slight blush, anyway. He asked, "Where are the rest of your friends?"

Mýa looked towards the bleachers and responded, "They went to go back to our seats. Liam just wanted to talk for a sec so they went ahead. I should head back also."

Zeke didn't give up yet, "Oh, cool. I will go back with you. We can hangout, I know you aren't bug on football."

Mýa smiled, he was right. They started walking back in silence when Zeke asked, "What were you guys talking about?"

"What?" Mýa wasn't paying attention.

"What were you guys talking about." Zeke repeated.

"Oh, nothing." Mýa answered and they were both quiet again.

Then Mýa decided to say something to Zeke, but they both spoke at the same time. They both started laughing and Mýa said, "You first."

Zeke got serious again. He took a breath and asked, "Is he your boyfriend?"

Mýa stopped walking, correction, she practically tripped. "What?! No! What made you think that?"

"You guys seemed pretty close, your friends aren't around, it was just the two of you,vhe said something to you quietly, you blushed, and didn't tell me what you guys actually were talking about." Zach answered.

Mýa almost smacked him. "You think too much. I was not purposely avoiding you earlier and Liam and I are not a thing. To tell you the truth he asked me out but I told him no." She said.

"Oh" Zeke said. "Why did you reject him and why didn't you tell me what he said when I first asked?"

"Because I just met him and wasn't interested, and it's not a big deal." Mýa said.

She wasn't technically lying, but Zeke was apart of her response to Liam and she didn't tell him about any of that. She just left part of what happened out of what she told Zeke. Zeke became quiet, he was thinking of a way to apologize because Mýa was right he had been overthinking. The worst part was that he had overthinked twice today and both involved Mýa. As he was thinking of how to apologize, Mýa made it back to where her friends and her were sitting.

She turned to Zeke and said, "I'm going to go sit with my friends now. I'll talk to you later, bye." She then turned to go but Zeke stopped her.

"Mýa I'm sorry. You are right, I have been overthinking and I'm sorry. Will you please stay and watch the game with me?' Zeke quickly said.

Mýa looked at Zeke, he was apologizing and she didn't really mind, she just didn't want him to think that she was dating anyone. She also didn't want to make things awkward between them and if he thought she was dating someone it would be easier for her to forget her feelings. Things were really complicated! "Ok," she said. "It's fine, we can watch the game together if you want. But you should tell your friends first."

"Thanks for accepting my apology, and I don't need to tell my friends. They had to leave, I just wanted to finish watching the game and I hoped I might see that you decided to come." Zeke said.

Mýa, paused. He wanted her to be there? No! No, she wasn't going to overthink. She brought Zeke over to where her friends were sitting and he sat with them. Illa gave Mýa an 'I told you so' look as she sat down. Mýa just roller her eyes at her.

After everyone got settled the group started watching the game again. Mýa was watching it a trying to remember what she had learned about football so she could understand and hopefully like the game more, when she realized Zeke was looking at her. She looked at Zeke and saw that he was watching her looking amused. "What?" She asked confused.

Zeke chuckled. "I find it funny that you are focused so hard on the game trying to understand it and it's rules as if that will make it more interesting for you. It's obvious you aren't that interested in football but you are trying to make it entertaining to you." He said.

"How'd you know what I was doing?" Mýa asked.

"It's obvious," Zeke said. "I can tell by your facial expressions."

Mia who heard the last part if the conversation asked, "I'm sorry, but did you say that you found it easy to read her facial expressions?"

"Yeah" Zeke answered. He looked at Mia curiously, "Why do you ask that?"

Mia glanced at Mýa. "Well it's just weird that you find Mýa easy to read." Mia told him, and then went and sat closer to the rest of the group.

"That was weird." Zeke laughed.

Mýa looked at Zeke closely. "Actually, it's not. I'm not an easy person to read and I know that. I don't change my facial expressions and I keep my emotions to myself. I don't open up easily and often keep things to myself, I keep an unreadable expression on my face so that people can't tell what I'm thinking or feeling. It's how I keep myself calm and stop myself from overreacting or getting hurt." Mýa said seriously.

"Wow. I didn't know that." Zeke said. "I don't think it's that hard to read you. Close friends can probably understand you better. I can see it more in your eyes. Your facial expressions might not change but I can see your eyes change when you feel or think different ways. When you are upset, your eyes cloud over or become blank, when you are mad/angry/furious your eyes get cold and scary honestly, and when you're happy your eyes light up and are a brilliant bright light blue." Zeke looked into Mýa's eyes as he said this. "I didn't tell you but I think of you like a bestfriend. I can tell your moods and such because we are close."

Mýa paused. Friends, Bestfriends? It hurts her a little because she is technically getting friendzoned, but this is a perfect way to stay close and get rid of her feelings. "Yeah, you are a bestfriend to me also." Mýa replied.
