Her New Neighbors

15 year old Mýa has lived in the woods with her family for her entire life. She lives with her dad in the first house in the woods, her uncle lives in the second house deeper in the woods, her great grandparents used to live in a house by the opening of the woods and owner a trailer they rented out, and her cousins live the farthest in the woods closest to the river. Her mom died giving birth to her so she lives with her dad and their pets/animals. Her life has always been pretty simple, she would play in the woods, fish, hike, tend gardens, take care of her animals, go boating, have bonfires, play softball, go to school, and always hang out with her family. Things changed, however, when her great grandfather passed away and something needed to be done with his property. After a lot of clean up and repair, it was decided that it was time to sell his house, sheds, and trailer. They happened to find the perfect family of three who wanted to buy all of the property and fix it up. That is where this story starts. •~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~ I had been planning to make this novel for some time but decided to make it now because it fit this contest entry needs. It is a Sweet Love romance that has some funny parts, a modern teen view point, and a independent feminist female lead. I also am working on Sealed With Blood, and I have a book called Coincidentally Fated that is at a bit of a stand still. There are no major misunderstandings or abuse or any type of suggestive parts. This is not my cover, all rights go to the original creator. This is a fast paced book. •~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~•~~~ Sneak Peaks "I think it would take a very long time for the neighbor girl to fall for him." He stared at her intensely before asking "So you really have never had a boyfriend before?" "I haven't let any other guy be close to you. I wouldn't want anyone else to have this with you." "Me Too..."

Football Game - 3

When the parade started everyone started cheering. The group of friends watched the parade and played two games. Who could get the most candy and who could embarrass friends and siblings the most. Mabel got the most candy and Mýa and Mia embarrassed their friends and Mia's family members the most.

Halfway through the parade Mýa felt that someone was watching her. She bent down to pick up a piece of candy at her feet and as she stood back up she noticed Zeke watching her intently. He was directly across from where Mýa and her friends were standing. She waved at him and he smiled and waved back before one of his friends whacked him on the head and said something to him. Mýa laughed, he looked back at her and stuck his tongue out like a three year old then smirked. Mýa laughed again.

Illa then turned to her and said, "Zeke is going to the game."

Mýa turned to her and said, "I know."

"You really should come." Mia said.

"Both of you know why I am not coming. Plus seeing him there wouldn't help my problem. I tried to ignore him some today and accidentally didn't talk to him as much as I normally di and he got worried thinking I was avoiding him. How am I supposed to ignore him and my feelings when he gets worried about me?!" Mýa said.

Mia looked at her and said, "Maybe you don't need to ignore him. Or your feelings."

Mýa looked back at Zeke who was laughing with his friends. "No, it will work out better for everyone if I continue doing what I've always done."

"Fine," Illa said, "The you should at least come to the game for a little while. You can go without having anything to do with a guy. Stay until half time, we can go to the booths and if you absolutely hate it, I will leave with you."

Mýa thought for a little while. Illa did have a good idea. Just because Zeke was going didn't mean she couldn't, she probably wouldn't even see him and it would be fun to check out half time and see the booths. "We have Practice tomorrow though. I don't want to be tired especially when we have a tournament next weekend." Mýa said.

Hailey who had been listening spoke up, "Actually Coach is starting Practice later. Instead of 8:30 she is starting it at 10:00 so that we won't be tired if we go to the homecoming game. You didn't say No..."

"See it will work out perfectly." Mia persuaded. "You should come!"

"Ok! Ok, I will come. Why not, I am curious about the half time stuff anyway." Mýa relented.

"Yes!!!" All the friends rejoiced. Mýa laughed at how they all acted like someone won the lottery. She just agreed to go to one football game. They would have a much, much harder time if they tried to convince her to go to the dance the next day. They stopped talking and watched the rest if the parade before they got in Ms. Monica's and Ms. Joy's Cars (Illa/Mabels mom and Mia's mom) so they could get to the game before it got crowded.

Mia's mom had dropped Mia and Mýa off at at the parade and then found a spot on the football bleachers for the group. Once the parents dropped all the girls off they left them alone. They first reminded everyone the basic rules. Mýa's dad had let her go to the game as long as she listened to the parents rules. The parents would pick them up exactly at 10:15 pm, they had to check in, and they had to answer every time a parent called. Once everyone agreed to the rules they sat down and watched the game begin.

Before the players went on the field the highschool Principal gave a small speech about the start of the school year, the start of the football season, homecoming itself, and sportsmanship. Then the cheerleaders from each team gave a little performance, even Mýa agreed that it was cool. Next the marching band played the national anthem, and then the game started.

Mýa tried to be interesting in the game, but after a while she got bored. She didn't want to bother her friends so she kept watching. Mia noticed and started a conversation with her. Soon the group was talking and laughing like normal and keeping up with the game occasionally when something cool happened.

When Half Time came Mýa was actually having fun, she told her friends that she would be will to stay for the rest of the game and told her dad that also. Her friends, of course, were very happy about her decision and her dad was glad that she was having fun. Mýa, Hailey, Payton, and Mabel were hungry, while Mia, Illa, and Tilly were not so the group split up. Mýa and Hailey went to get taco's from a food truck while Mabel and Payton went to get normal football stadium food like hotdogs.

After they got food they went back to the stadium where Illa, Mia, and Tilly were waiting for them. They ate their food and shared some with the rest of the group. When they got done they still had at least half an hour left before half time was over, because half time at the schools highschool was different than other schools. The half time was normally about 45 minutes long so everyone could enjoy the half time entertainment and to make the school year more enjoyable to students.

Since they still had plenty of time they went to check out the booths. While they were walking to the parking lot area that was assigned to the booths they met some people from the other team. The other team's school was technically the highschool that Mýa went to's rival. Some of the students they met acted like jerks even though their team was losing, others were super flirty, but some were ok. As they were walking some guys who were hanging out near some of the bleachers noticed them and started talking to them.

"Hey pretty ladies. Where are you going?" One of them asked.

Hailey rolled her eyes. "Not towards the flirtatious idiots, that's for sure." Mia answered. The groups continued walking towards the booth.

The group of guys started laughing, "Haha you idiot, I told you that not all girls are interested in you. You finally got rejected. Hey girls, sorry for my friend he is like this all the time." Another one of the boys said.

Illa turned around to look at them. "It's fine. We are used to guys like that. Basically our entire football team to be exact."

The second guy laughed, "I'm Liam. This Nitwit is Noah, and these two guys are Logan and Henry." He said pointing to his friends.

Illa introduced the group of girls and told them that they were going to check out the booths. The guys asked to go with them and so the girls and guys went to the parking lot. When they got there they went from booth to booth.

The first booth was the drama club booth and the people there thanked Mýa for helping them. They even gave her a free music note cookie. As they continued going to the different booths Liam started talking with Mýa, "So you girls go to this school?" Liam asked her.

"Yup. What is the name of your school again?" Mýa asked.

Liam looked at her like she told him something unbelievable, "Our school is O'Connor High. Our team is Conner Chaos, how did you not know?"

"I'm not a football enthusiast. I know that O'Connor High is technically our 'rival' school or whatever but I didn't know if it applied to football." She said honestly. "I also kinda forgot the name of your team also..." She added quietly.

Liam laughed, "That is unusual. You're very different Mýa."

"Yeah, I know. Thanks for the compliment." Mya said which made Liam laugh again. The continued talking for awhile as they went to different booths.

Mýa ended up getting a pencil holder from the art club and an elephant pencil holder for Illa's upcoming birthday. As they started going back to the stands Liam pulled Mýa aside and said to her. "Hey Mýa, I know we just met but I think you are really cool. Would you be willing to go on a date with me next week?"

Mýa was shocked, she did not have a lot of experience with this type of stuff. She didn't feel the same for Liam, so she needed to say no. "I'm sorry Liam, I have feelings for someone else and I am trying to ignore those feelings because I really am interested in any sort of relationship. I'm sorry." She said regretfully.

Liam smiled, "It's ok. I understand, you ja e feelings for someone else. I don't understand why you would want to ignore those, but I respect your decision."

Mýa looked at him appreciatively. "Thanks for understanding." She said.

They then started walking to find the group when someone call her name. She turned around and saw Zeke coming towards her and Liam.
