Chapter Four: Past: Surprises

It's been 3 months since I started this position and when they say 'more money more work', they meant it. I leave work at 5 pm instead of 3 pm; 30 minutes break instead of an hour because the work keeps piling up more and more. At times, I'd bring my work home due to not having enough time. I never saw Owen again because I did not have time to just go out and 'bump' into him or even enjoy my weekends because I had presentations to prepare or work to complete. This got to the point where Justin and Lusi tried to drag me out the house with my laptop for at least fresh air. It didn't work. I got so annoyed when I couldn't find my notes for assistance, so I simply upped and went home.

I opened my office door after some peace and silence I got from my lunch break. The moment I sat down, my office phone rang and I groaned.

"Miss Unico's office." I said when I picked up.

"Hi Miss Unico, it's Ann the secretary, I have a Mr. Taylor here for you concerning your 1 pm meeting."

"Oh, yes please direct him to my office."

"Done."

I quickly hurried and searched my bag for a mirror so I could see if I had any food stains in or outside my month. Michael wanted me to meet Mr. Taylor to try and convince him to be one of our board investors. Apparently, he owned 4 companies, is beneficial from six different businesses, and has a logo of 'perseverance'.

So, this meeting was a must-win for me. I looked around my office to ensure that nothing was out of place and pulled out my laptop from its drawer. Logging in, I quickly entered the pin, to access the presentations I had worked up for him. This way it was more professional. I heard the door knock and I called for them to enter.

I hadn't looked up since I was so deep into looking at the notes, ensuring that there weren't any mistakes, the only thing that scared me wasn't that I hadn't heard the secretary close the door but when he said…

"Well the world is definitely cold but amusing; I did not expect my dance partner."

I looked up and locked contact with his brown eyes, surprised to see…

"Owen."

"Isn't this a surprise?"

"A very rare one, I didn't think I'd see the bad 'pitcher' ever again." I laughed.

"Neither did I think I'd see the tuck tail and run."

"I don't tuck tail and run. I curve."

"Oh, is that what they call it?"

"Apparently so."

We both laughed. The atmosphere light. Many of them try to intimidate me since I'm a woman in a high position but he didn't even try…well so far.

"So, Miss Unico, you have an offer for me?"

"Definitely, please take a seat and I'll show you the documents."

"This is unusual."

"Why do you say?"

"I'm usually taken to the boardroom for such presentations."

"Well, I prefer a much intimate approach."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Well, maybe when we are done here and we can move past the 90-day rule..."

"You're so deep in your imagination world" I said as I burst out laughing.

"That's not the only thing I can go deep in." he winked

"Can we stick to work please?" I said after I cooled down.

"Sure, Miss Unico. So, tell me what Vision publishing can offer me and my companies?" he began seriously.
