CHAPTER 5 INDEED MY HOME

A week had passed when Fynn and Quinn arrived in Hemena but they never went to town since they brought some supplies they needed.

"Fynn, why don't you go out and enjoy the view huh." Quinn said as he put he reads the news through his phone.

"Yeah, i'll bear that in mind. By the way when are they going to deliver the books?" Fynn asked Quinn as he flips the page of the book that he is reading.

"They'll be delivering it two days from now Fynn. By the way, what are you reading? You've been spending your days with it." Quinn said with full of curiousity as he tried to look at the title of the book Fynn is reading.

"This is about gardening. I'm trying to search for ways on easy gardening Quinn. I'd like to plant vegetables in the backyard." Fynn replied as he showed the book to Quinn. The latter was surprised but he is amused to the man in front of him.

"That is a good diversion for you. Just tell me when are we going to clear the backyard. I will be going to look for some gardening tools in the island center." Quinn said referring to Thomas' store near in the market.

"Good idea Quinn. Let's go now so that we can start it as soon as possible." Fynn responded as soon as he heard what Quinn had said. They went to the island center and bought some gardening tools.

"Good morning gentlemen? Are there some othrr things you need?" Thomas asked as soon as he noticed Quinn and Fynn in the gardening tools area.

"Ahm, i would like to ask if you have any seedlings of these vegetables?" Fynn ask as he handed the list to Thomas.

"Yes but our stocks are not enough for what you need. I mean these seedlings were not mine. The owner just put it here for display but the stocks were in her house. I can give you her contact number if you want." Thomas said as he pick up his phone and scroll it.

"Good morning UncleThomas." Lex suddenly said when she entered the store entrance.

"Good morning too Lex, i am glad that you are here. By the way there's someone who wants to buy some vegetable seedlings. I wonder if you have all the varieties that they want?" Thomas asked her as she approached the old man in the counter.

"Yeah, let me see it first Uncle Thomas." Lex responded as she look for the list of the seedlings that Fynn and Quinn wants to buy.

"Ahm, Lex i want you to meet Fynn and Quinn. They are living in the Zu Manor on the hill." Thomas said as he introduces the two men standing on the other side of the counter.

"Nice to meet you. By the way, are you the buyers of the plant seedlings?" Lex asked as she offered her hand for a handshake to the men in front of her.

"Yes, we are glad to meet you Miss Lex." Fynn said slightly stuttering which made Quinn smirk a bit.

"Nah, just call me Lex. So you are new in the island?" Lex asked as she get some spices on the spice rack on the store counter.

"Yes Lex, we arrived a week ago. We decided to plant some vegetables or fruits in the backyard of the manor."Fynn said in an uncomfortable manner. As he looks at her, his heart trembles and beats fast which made him feel cold inside but there are some traces of sweats in his forehead. He knew that this is the woman he saw on the road a week ago.

"Is there something wrong with my face Mr?" Lex asked quite annoyed when she noticed that Fynn stared at her for qiite a while now.

"Ahm, n....o, i mean no. I am sorry." Fynn immediately apologized as he noticed that Lex looks annoyed.

"I am sorry Ms Lex. Its just that Fynn was mesmerized because we thought that the owner of these plants here is a man. In the community that we live before, all of the gardeners working with us are males. And this man here, is not quite acquanted with girls so my apology Miss for what has he behave earlier."Quinn sencerely talk and apologized to Lex. He slightly punches Fynn's back to make him say a word to support his alliby.

"Is that so? Well, here in Hemena you will see women do the farming as well. You know, farming is one of the most important aspect in our livelihood. We need crops to live you know. By the way are you working in the manor?"Lex asked after she said those words to ease the indifferent atmosphere between them. Thomas on the other hand is enjoying what he sees. He sense that part of of what Quinn had said was not true. He can see that the young man in front of him is attracted to Lex which made him acted that way.

"Oh yes, yes... we are working in the manor. So can you help us with these seedlings?" Quinn answered to Lex.

"Don't worry i can help you with these. And don't hesitate to ask help from us because here in Hemena we have this principle of helping each other. If you live here, you won't feel alone. Just tell Uncle Thomas whatever you need because he will be the one to tell the people and they will come to you in whatever situation you're in to help you." Lex said and this time she smiled to the men in front of her. She let Quinn and Fynn buy everything they need for their gardening as she went home and prepare the seedlings thry are going to buy. She gave them the sketch to her place and even her number.

"Quinn, i also want to clarify things, here in Hemena, we are not using commercial fertilizers. We only use animal manure and dried leaves or woods to help the healthy grow of the plant. It was one of the things that Lex is promoting." Thomas explained to Quinn and Fynn.

"So where can we ask informations about it?"Quinn asked to Thomas.

"You can ask Lex about it. She can guide you all through out. By the way Quinn, can i ask a personal question?"Thomas asks Quinn.

"You can ask Thomas but my answer will depend on the question you ask." Quinn answered.

"Ahm, is Fynn already married?" Thomas asked directly to Quinn which made the latter burst into a loud laughter.

"Why? I am seriius here Quinn. As you can see, Fynn is quite affected with my Lex. So i just want to ask to warn my princess beforehand." Thomas explained and Quinn knew that Lex is very dear to the man in front of him.

"Don't worry Thomas. Fynn is not married and actually he has never experience that kind of relationship eversince. Ha Ha Ha."Quinn answered while laughing and holding his stomach. Thomas on the other hand find it amusing that he also laugh upon knowing it.

"What are you doing Quinn. I know you are like a father to me but you don't have the roght.to tell it to anybody."Fynn said in a serious tone but Quinn just shrugged and said.

"Fynn, it is alright you know. We already knew that you are attracred to that beautiful lady earlier. And aside from that if you want to pursue her you really need a lot of help. And Thomas here maybe can help us. Am i right Mr. Thomas?"Quinn explained to Fynn while the latter's facial expression changed.

"I don't think my love life is what we came here Quinn. Let's go, for sure miss Lex is wating for us." Fynn said as he pick up the bags and went outside the store. The two older men find him amusing and laugh at it. Quinn bid goodbye to Thomas.

"If you want something Quinn just call me. Here is my calling card. By the way Quinn, i can see that you guys are good men but never do something wrong to our Lex. She isthe heart of Hemena and we don't want to see her hurt or else your stay here won't be that good." Thomas seriously warned Quinn.

"Don't worry Thomas. That guy there? He has no guts in hurting your princess. I don't even know if he has a guts to ask her out. Hahahah..." Quinn amusingly said while laughing. Upon hearing it, Thomas felt the assurance that Lex is in a good hands.

As he met her earlier, Fynn cannot contain himself. He wanted to see her immediately. His heart is missing her already. It's as if seeing her here, he felt like he is at home.
