Hell Unearthed

Shane, a 20-year-old boy, awakened in a different body in another universe, where demons and monsters roam the lands. Humanity was on the verge of annihilation as the Servants, those born of human and demon, were on a quest to unseal the portals of hell and bring doom to the world. Shane, a weakling who had no powers, suddenly gains an ability that no one possessed _the power to steal others' mana. This seemed like a miracle but how would Shane have known that he had possessed the powers and body of a five-thousand-year-old demon whose soul had separated from its body as it passed through the portal. What will happen to Shane when the demon returns to reclaim its body? Will he be able to defeat it, or will he turn around and destroy the only people he had pledged to protect? .... ''I can’t let you take this body.'' Shane said to the demon who looked exactly like himself. The demon laughed sarcastically, shaking his head as though in mockery of Shane; ''Do you realize I have owned that body for five thousand years? How do you think, a mere mortal like you can win in a war against me?; Walking towards Shane with a sneer on his lips, he said; ''I must commend you however, for the powers you have gained during your brief stay in my body. It's quite impressive for a mortal soul like yours. But now it's time for me to take what's mine. '' **** Takeaways Slow burn action( proper fights starts from chapter 11.) Don’t die a painful death

Luna was the next to come look for Shane, but no matter how hard she tried to persuade him, he wouldn't change his mind. There was nothing anyone could do when he had refused to back down.

Not only had he refused to back down, but he also refused to train too. He just ate and lay in bed every day, anticipating his death on Friday.

Tatiana refused to speak to him. Whenever she came to the room, she just spoke to Sky and sometimes Finn and left.

Kai and his friends were having a field day, parading, and laughing. Everyone knew he was going to win, but what they prayed was that he wouldn't end up killing Shane.

The day finally came, and Shane had gotten out of bed a little too early and took a bath. He was quite chatty that day, more so than any other day, and Sky was surprised at how happy he was about dying.

"Shane, there is still time for you to change your mind about this. The council will order Kai to rescind the duel the moment you surrender." Sky tried to persuade him for the last time before they headed for the training field. Shane smiled and said, "Thank you, but if I had wanted to change my mind, I would have done so since."

Sky heaved a sigh and then pulled him in for a quick hug; "Just in case you don't come back, stupid."

He patted him on the back.

Shane smiled and said, "Thanks for being a good friend."

As they walked out, they met Tatiana standing outside the dorm. Her face looked incredibly sad;

"Tatiana... " Shane called when he saw her;

"Are you really going to fight Kai?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"Yes, I am."

Tatiana bit her lower lip. "Can you not do this? Must you be stubborn? Why do you want to end your life like this? "

"It's not like it's worth anything, anyway. I'm just being a burden here. Once I'm gone, everyone will return to how things were before I came."

Tatiana breathed; "What if we don't want you to die? You know you can leave the academy if you don't want to stay here. You shouldn't end your life like this. "

Shane smiled and walked up to her. "Thank you so much for everything,'' he said. "I appreciate it. "

Her eyes swelled with tears at his words. "You're quite stubborn," she said, and turned around, walking away. She had walked a few meters before she walked back to where Shane stood and hugged him.

Shane froze for a second before he hugged her back.

''Don't die a painful death. It'll be harder to watch, "she said before letting him go and walking away.

"Hmm, I guess she'll miss you when you're gone." You know she cared about you. "

Shane sighed; "She'll get over it."

On the way to the field, they bumped into Nyx. She was the last person he wanted to see. She had gone through bringing him here, only for him to set his head and demand to be murdered.

Nyx stopped when she saw them. "You really are stubborn, aren't you?"

"I'm sorry for wasting your time, Nyx," Shane said with a smile; thanks for all you've done for me. "

Nyx shook her head; "Too bad. All these looks would go to the soil. Alright, die easy." She said, patting his shoulder, and then she walked away.

Sky laughed when Nyx left; "Sometimes I don't understand Nyx. One minute she's all caring and the next she doesn't give a damn."

Shane watched her leave before looking at Sky; "I guess she already knows I've made up my mind. She doesn't want to waste her time trying to convince me."

''I guess so. Everyone would be at the field today, watching you being butchered. And Kai doesn't take it easy with his opponents. Unless the council steps in, he'll snuff the life out of them.''

"I sincerely hope they don't."

"Well, in duels like this, their hands are usually tied. They don't readily save someone unless they ask for help, and in this case, you do not want to ask for help. I guess we're all going to sit and watch you die. "

In the field, everyone was seated as they waited for the fight to begin. The atmosphere in the arena was gloomy like they all knew the pretty boy was about to be killed.

The girls were especially sad. They had pleaded with Kai to call off the duel, but he had refused.

Others pleaded with him to take it easy with Shane; although they were not close to him, they didn't want to see him die.

Kai had already arrived on the field, cracking jokes and laughing with his friends. They had already planned how he would beat the living daylights out of Shane so much that he would fall on his knees and plead for mercy.

As Shane walked into the arena, everyone grew quiet, and all eyes turned to him. There were a few whispers as they watched him walk to Kai.

Sky gave him a last pat on the back before letting him go.

Shane walked to the middle field where Kai stood.

"You look far too cheerful for someone who is about to die," Kai spoke with a wicked grin on his chin.

"We both want the same thing." Why won't I be happy?" Shane asked, smiling. Kai was confused for a second, and then he laughed;

"Don't think for a moment that I would let you out easily.

I'll show you the true powers of a descendant, and even in your next life, you'll beg the heavens never to let you cross paths with me.''

Shane did not reply. Kai was just a noisy bully. He loved the attention he got from bullying people, and Shane actually wished he had powers so he could beat the hell out of him in front of everyone and shut him up once and for all.

He smiled and said, "May the odds be in your favor."

The fight would not start until the council arrived, so they had to wait for them. After a few long minutes, they finally walked in. The descendants stood up to usher them in.

Shane noticed they were ten, about six men and four women. They were so far off that Shane couldn't see them well. He didn't even have the luxury of watching them. He was about to die, anyway.

After the council was seated, the referee waved the others to sit. When everyone was seated, he walked to Shane and Kai and asked them if they were both in favor of the fight, and they both nodded.

Raising his hands, he then brought them down and shouted,

"Let the battle begin!"

I'm scared for Shane, haha.
