Heimarian Odyssey

Locke is a middling officer in the Kingdom of Faustian’s army. He happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, or the right place at the right time, depending on your perspective, and happens to save the kingdom’s princess. As fortune would have it, love prospers, but in a world of peasantry and nobility, a middling, peasant-born soldier has no right to love a princess. Locke is nothing if not determined, however, and sets out to become someone worthy of loving the princess, someone her family can accept. But that path is neither short, nor safe, as our hero will soon discover. Parlina's

Parlina's residence was in the middle of the two caster faculties. It was in the northwest corner of the academy and was surrounded by many magic towers.

Locke, who rarely visited the caster faculties, had never been here before.

Unlike the strict security at the entrance of the caster faculties, the security here was lax. The guards at the outermost area only took one look at Locke and Angelina's academy uniform and let them pass.

"Have you prepared the gift I asked you to prepare?" asked Angelina.

Today was Locke's first official visit to Grandmeisterin. Parlina knew that he'd risked his life to advance to a high-rank Knecht for Angelina. She'd always treated Angelina as her granddaughter, so she wasn't happy with Locke as her grandson-in-law.

However, the fact that Locke was willing to go this far had earned the old lady's approval. It seemed like she had a story to tell.

Angelina's gift was already prepared. It was a magic pen made from the tail feathers of a high-rank major monster, a black eagle. The price was within her budget range. She could only rely on her grandmeisterin for the time being after she entered the Sanctum. Although she rarely did things like building a good relationship with her grandmeisterin, it didn't mean that she wouldn't do it.

The fact that Parlina accepted her as her granddaughter showed how much she liked her.

Locke had also prepared a gift at Angelina's urging a few days ago. He'd bought it from Billie's auction.

The auction he'd attended only took place twice a year. There were also auctions that were of a lower standard and were sponsored solely by Billie's family. There weren't many good items, but there were still a few. He'd bought this gift from one of those auctions.

"I've already prepared it. It's a Renaissance vase!" Locke didn't know when the Renaissance had taken place in Aomar's history. He'd only picked the vase because Angelina told him that her grandmeisterin was into craftsmanship and art. She was also well-versed in history.

Locke looked left and right, but he couldn't figure out how the patterns on the vase represented art or why it was worth a thousand gold moores.

The crystal core of a high-rank major monster was only worth a thousand gold moores, and Angelina's magic pen was only worth eight hundred gold moores.

Angelina and Locke stopped in front of a seven-metre-tall magic tower.

Angelina knocked on the door while he observed the tower from the corner of his eye.

It was bigger and taller than Angelina's tower when he was in Faustian. Judging from the height, there should be one or two more floors. Judging from the width, Angelina's tower could only accommodate two or three people. It was only used for experiments at most.

The Magic Tower in front of him covered an area that was larger than a courtyard. It was 200 square meters in area, which was enough to separate many rooms for rest and experimentation.

The Princeton Royal Academy treated the official mages well.

Before Angelina could knock on the door, the door opened automatically. The grandmeisterin must have found out about their arrival through some means.

Angelina waved at him. Instead of continuing to hold his arm, she took his hand and led him into the tower.

The first floor of the tower was decorated like a living room. There were three rows of sofas arranged around a white marble table in the middle.

Locke finally knew why the grandmeisterin liked art. He recognised a vase on the table that looked similar to the one he brought with him.

There were two bedrooms and a kitchen around the living room, but the doors to the bedrooms were closed and Locke couldn't see what was going on inside. The kitchen, on the other hand, was open. The pots and pans floated in the air even though there was no wind. Locke was dumbfounded by the sight of it.

A broom was also constantly sweeping the floor in the living room. Locke even had to lift his feet when the broom came over.

In the front left corner of the living room was a spiral staircase that connected to the upper floors of the tower.

Currently, the entire tower looked more like a normal house than a magic tower. Of course, one had to ignore the furniture that moved without any wind.

Another strange thing was that the surrounding walls produced colourful beams of light that moved upwards from time to time. "This is the elemental pool at the bottom of the Mage Tower. It's a function for the Mage Tower," whispered Angelina. She knew what he was thinking because they shared a telepathic bond.

"You're early." An old female voice came from the top of the spiral staircase.

Locke looked over and saw an old lady about 1.6 metres tall with platinum wavy hair. She wore glasses and walked down with a walking stick.

Locke had seen similar glasses before. Angelina often wore them when she was doing alchemy experiments. Locke thought that she looked beautiful in glasses because she had an intellectual temperament.

It seemed that the grandmeisterin had just finished her magic experiment.

"Since you're here, let's have a meal." The old lady snapped her fingers and the kitchen became even more noisy. All the pots and pans were moved around and the aroma of food could be smelled.

"Grandma ~" Angelina cried and ran over to help the old lady down the stairs.

The old lady was still in good health and didn't need Angelina's help. But since Angelina ran over, the old lady didn't refuse. She just smiled and passed the crutch to Angelina. Parlina liked Angelina from the bottom of her heart.

"There's no need to bring anything." Parlina noticed the two gift boxes on the table.

"I knew that one of your pens was broken, so I went to buy you a new one." Angelina opened her gift box and took out the black magic pen inside.

A magic pen made from the tail feathers of a black huanghun bird would be much easier to write magic scrolls or messages. Parlina's previous magic pen was made from the material of a high-rank major monster.

"Greetings, grandmeisterin!" Locke stood up and offered his seat to the old lady.

"Yes." The old lady's attitude towards Locke wasn't as warm as Angelina's. She only grunted through her nose. A high-rank Knecht like Locke was nothing in the eyes of a Magister.

As if sensing the awkwardness of the situation, Angelina hurriedly said, "Locke brought you a gift." She then gave Locke a look.

Locke immediately understood what she meant. He took the gift box on the table and took out the antique vase.

The old lady knew her stuff and could tell that it was an authentic one at a glance. Her expression softened and she said, "Thank you."

It seemed that the old lady was satisfied with Locke's gift.
