It was a 20 km walk to home.

The journey was safe as both his home and Smith lab were located in posh localities.

As he reached this deserted bridge there was a drainage pipe 2 feet in diameter embedded in the slope below the bridge.

The drainage pipe was not in use. As planet Assan followed the time of 21st century AD.

The architects build a drainage pipe to give residents a more accurate experience.

Vash herd sound of moaning coming from the pipe below . As he went down the slope he saw

the pipe was coming out of the slope and had rusted metal bars covering it's end.

But Vash saw that few bars in the middle were missing. This was not uncommon as the pipes were clean. The couple sometimes made them their secret ' doing things' hideout.

The sound was coming from the pipe so Vash walks to the pipe to help.

But as he got near it. He saw red eyes in the pipe.

Frightened, he jumped back trying to get get as far as possible.

Red eyes like these generally symbolised an aggressive animal mutation.

The government has put measures so that no animal except for some pets were present in the city.

Even for those pets, the owners had to get licenses. And the pets had to undergo a frequent examination.

The government even set up a special department.

Created just to eradicate any life form in the city except for humans.

The entire city has within a glass just to prevent the animals from coming it.

Animal department was not less equipped than the military.

Vash immediately send the SOS signal to the animal department via his Comm. device which has an app needed in case of emergencies like this to send the SOS signal with the location to the animal department.

Vash slowly walked backwards as those eyes were coming closer . And a gigantic rat with red eyes emerged from the pipe.

Fierce eyes rat was a species of rats with an adult reaching level 9.

Adult fierce eyed rats could grow up to the size of a small lamb with a weight of 50 Kgs.

What made fierce eyed eats dangerous was their ferocious nature. Equipped with long teeth and sharp claws, they were dangerous for any baseline human.

[Running was not an option .] Vash thought .

Vash tried to bring his hands forward to keep the rat away from his neck.

Sudden pain overwhelmed Vashs senses as he looked downward . Vash saw chunk of flesh missing from this right arm.

The pain was excruciating bringing Vash to his knees .

As pain overwhelmed Vash The rat bonce again flew away with a chunk of fresh from his thighs this time.

The additional pain bought Vash to his senses. He needed to fight at least struggle to live till the Animal control arrive .

Vash looked at the rat 30 meter away from him eating the meat from his thighs.

He rose to his feet picking up stones in both hands.

As the rat pounced once again . Vash threw the first stone clearly missing its intended target but the second one struck the rat right on its stomach.

The rat growled for the first time but was clearly uninjured from the hit.

Vash tried to formulate the plan .

Diving in the river was not an option and He couldn't run . From the corner of his eyes Vash spotted the missing bars below the drainage pipe.

Vash quickly ran towards those bars but halfway down there rat attacked him once again, this time on his calf.

Withstanding the pain, Vash speed up towards the bars.

Picking up one with the sharp end Vash turned towards the rat.

He was weak physically fine but he could analyze .

He could calculate the trajectory of the rat would allow him to hit the mouse on its head even if he was slower.

[Calm down Vash calculate the trajectory speed . I could swing the bar when the rat reaches me, hitting it on the head ]" Vash " thought.

He calculated the distance 30meteres the rat could reach the velocity upto 20 m/s . The rat would jump after 5 meter.

he was in the middle for the calculation when he saw the rat just meter from him .

He swinged the bar, but it missed rat which bit his biceps this time.

All the calm, rational thoughts disappeared as fear consumed him .

He was not fast enough to calculate the trajectory before the rat reaches him while in panic Vash started to madly swing the bar in the direction on of the rat.

But those swings missed his center of gravity got messed up making him lose his balance but this time the rat won a pieceof meat from the shoulder.

The fierce-eyed rat was reaching closed to his neck with every dash.

Vash felt helpless once again . His right hand was clearly injured, further weakening the strength behind the swing.

There was nothing he could do [I am going to die ] Vash thought.

Not even a month has passed since his recovery and his death was before him .

His intelligence wasn't working. There were too many variables to calculate and very little time.

Vash made a last ditch effort. Just calculate the trajectory in the X-Y plane then move his left hand there to prevent the rat from reaching his body. If possible swing the bar when the rat was biting him.

This was a plan Vash finally came up with it was unlikely to work but the best one he could think of

. As the rat jumpe the sixth time Vash bought his left hand between them and swing with all his might.

As the bar got closed to the rat just when it would hit it. The rat twisted itself causing the bar collided with its legs instead of its belly.

But the rat clawed Vash left forearm leaving bloody gashes.

Vash was losing blood . He was getting dizzy if he got wounded just twice more he would lose the control of his Body due to blood loss.

Two more wounds and then the death awaits him.

Good news was the bar hit the rat on its knees injuring it.

The rat growled and ran towards Vash again but it speed clearly affected by the hit.

Vash knew this was do or die moment . Swing the bar is not enough to heavily injure the creature

He had to stab the rat.

The chances of stabbing were even lower than hitting it with a swing

Near the moment of his death . Vash calmed down once again Meanwhile his senses sharpened.

The rat appeared slower than before. He was able follow it with his eyes. Just as the rat was two Feet away from him .

Vash stabbed it , both of his hands were holding the bar exerted every ounce of his strength . The bar went through the rats eyes coming out of the back of its head. killing it in an instant.

Vash slimed in relief he is going to live.

Moments before losing his consciousness Vash heard.
