Chapter 7; hawk eyes

Destiny woke up and flinched when she saw Sky wrapped around her body like a pillow. She forgot that she had stayed in the bounds people's place, she moved away from Sky and got up. She then walked upstairs and slowly opened the door but was caught off gaurd by Gidget cleaning the windows. "AH!-..." She started to fall backwards from the top step, '...Is this how I'm going to die? Falling from a flight of stairs in a house with a majority of strangers and one girl I've only met twice?-', she thought while silent. She shut her eyes tight but then opened them when she was supposed to hit the ground. Gidget was holding on to her by mere threads of her shirt, "...Kid! Pull yourself up so we both dont get hurt!" Destiny pulled herself forward and fell right on top of Gidget, she slowly got up and rubbed her head. "I-I'm sorry, I forgot I stayed here... I-I'm Destiny! What's your name?" She helped them get up, they stretched afterward. "The name's Gidget kid, I'm a mechanic and engineer." Destiny smiled, "So you build things?" Gidget took the clock down. "And fix, I fixed this yesterday. This little devil was real feisty and even threw a peice of itself straight into Jack's eye." Destiny looked confused, "Jack...is he the bigger guy?"

Jackal walked in the room, "No, that's Copper. I'm Jack." Destiny started fidget her hands, "S- Sorry, I just-" Jack interrupted while picking up the mug of coffee Gidget makes her every morning. "Didn't know. It's fine, although my full name is Jackal. You can call me what you want though." She yawned and sipped the hot beverage, once she was done she smiled. "Nice job Gidget, the drink is perfect like every morning." She pat them on the head, then turned facing Destiny once more. "You, go get Sky up. She'll be in the room down the hall to the left." Destiny took a breath, "Actually she slept in the basement...with me." Jack looked deep into her eyes like she was looking for something specific. Then she stopped and moved eyes to Gidget but still spoke directly to her. "Alright then, go get Sky. Hurry up, go on."

Destiny left the room, going back downstairs and saw that Sky was gone. "Um..." She hurried back upstairs to see Sky sitting down, dressed, and ready for the day. "Good morning kitten, what took you so long?" Destiny looked like she saw a ghost, "But how-" "I'm quick on my feet, what about you?" She asked smiling, Destiny took one step back. "I'm fast too." Jack couldn't help but laugh, "If you were so fast, I wouldn't have had to drag you out of that alleyway myself." Destiny moved her hair behind her ears, "It was dark-" "And? I made my way swiftly too you." Jack cleaned her coffee mug, she was getting frustrated. "...I fell-" "Why? Why couldn't you keep balance?" Destiny put her hands her pockets, "...I- I got startled!" Jack slammed down the mug and Gidget jumped. Sky backed away from the two, and Destiny was just as frustrated. Jack walked towards Destiny and firmly grabbed her shoulders. "...Be honest. Why is a sweet, soft, and sensitive girl doing out here. You have everything you could ever want in your big beautiful house, so why throw it all away?"

She shoved off Jack, "Quit assuming my life!" Jack laughed, "Why?! Its true, you get to soak up in all that cash and eat all that good food while us monsters of the deep fight for money, fight to survive!" Destiny smiled tears rolling down her cheeks. "All that cash is my uncle's...check my pockets, I only have a few bronze peices. Food? I used to eat good food and I'll admit it, but that doesnt mean I still do. I eat whatever he throws on the table. You may fight to survive but I fight for freedom, I'd die if it meant for me to finally breathe like there was no tomorrow." Jack sighed and threw a tissue at her, it landed away from Destiny. Gidget elbowed her with their metal arm, "Ow!" They handed Destiny a tissue, "Do not worry about Jackal, shes just being stubborn." Destiny nodded and wiped her tears, Sky got in Destiny's face and looked all around it. "What are you-?" Sky grabbed her by the hand and dragged her out the door, to outside. Destiny pulled back once they were outside, "What?" Sky sighed and began poking at Destinys arm's. "What's this for? Stop that!" Then she poked for the last time when Destiny winced and stepped back. "...Do you have a bruise?" Destiny sighed, "It's fine." "No its not!" Sky gently laid her hand on the spot where the bruise is on her arm. "Who hurt you? Was it the boys in the alleyway last night...or was it-" Destiny turned her head away, "Its nothing! Why do you care so much?" Sky gently pulled Destinys head back infront of hers. "...Because...were freinds, I want you safe. In order for you to stay safe I need to know who hurt you, so please just tell me." Destiny shook her head but Sky carried on, "Destiny...please." She looked into Sky's eyes, "...Destiny?" She blushed, and Sky smiled. "Destiny let me do you a favour, all you have to do is let me know." Destiny quickly hugged Sky, wrapping her arms around tight. "...Its-...my uncle...Issac. He's a very rich and powerful merchant, he runs the Grand Bank down on Burlum's square. He used to be so nice when my parents were around, when my mother died my father would get very angry and tell lies to my uncle that I'm the one who did it. I never harmed anyone intentionally but then my father had enough and left, my uncle came to the rescue. Well, all he wanted was the money my father left behind...my uncle never wasted any day to show how much he hates me." Sky hugged back, "...Is that why you...left?" Destiny nodded, tears forming into her eyes once more.

Next thing you know Sky catches a glimpse of a pair of hawk eyes staring right at them. It was Jackal, Sky looked confused and Destiny didn't notice. Once they were finished hugging they went back inside, everyone was awake at this point. Al chugged his drink as Copper sipped his right beside him, Al watched the two walked in and then he smiled. "So are you two dating or what?-" Copper kicked him in the ankle, Al grabbed his leg. "Ow! Hey what was that for?!" Copper slammed her drink down, "Remember what I told you boy." Al then buried his face his knees and pouted. Destiny couldnt help but turn red, Gidget smiled while putting up Jack's mug. Jackal on the other hand was quite the oppisite of happy, she looked angry. But who knows why that hawk is truly upset...who knows at all.
