CHAPTER 2

Wendy finally came out of her office after two hours of talking to Matthew, she went to the staffroom and got herself a cup of coffee, she took a deep breath and sat on the sofa. Remembering about the meeting the staff were supposed to have, she looks at the wall clock only to realize she's ten minutes late already, she got up dropped the cup and headed towards the hall for the meeting, sneaking inside and taking a seat beside her best friend Kate.

 The meeting was about how they could help patients that are too afraid to receive help, Wendy was about to doze off completely when she heard her name, at first she thought it was just her imagination but when Kate hit her she finally snapped back to reality. Apparently they all knew that Matthew ,who had been the most kept together patient, had confided in her and they were calling her to acknowledge her efforts. It's not the first time that something like this is happening to her, she had been acknowledged for her efforts before but that only got some of the workers jealous, although, she never got promoted for it, so she thought taking it to heart was just a waste of time.

 Her shift was almost over and she was packing her things when one of her colleagues James approached her, "are you free tomorrow, its also my day off, wanna hang out" Wendy's used to these things so she's not excited like the other girls would be, truth is she's wanted by almost all the men in this hospital, including some of the patients, "no, I'm staying with David" she replies him, " oh come on, everyone knows you two broke up so I know you're lying" he says, "word really spreads quickly" she thinks to herself, "sorry but I'm tired and don't feel like doing anything tomorrow" she finishes packing and leaves. she hails a cab and gets in, she dozes off before she knows it.

 By the time she got home it was 1:38 am she took a shower and went to write a report. After sometime she starts feel uncomfortable in her stomach it's not the first time that she gets this feeling but it's worse this time, she holds her stomach tight and crouches down, she feels immense pain and then runs to the bathroom, opens the toilet lid and crouches full down before it happens she just threw up, she's panicking now, she throws up again and sits there in the bathroom for almost a whole hour. When she's sure she's fine she goes to the sitting room and takes her phone and text's Mrs. Brookes to ask for an urgent leave.

 The next morning she gets up and makes breakfast, after eating she gets cleaned and goes out for groceries. At the supermarket she goes around looking for foods that ease nausea and just as she was about to enter one of the aisles she sees David shopping with a different girl than the one he cheated with, "how could you even stay in love with him, I mean the signs are just so obvious" she hears someone whisper in her ear, turning around she sees Kate and feels relieved, Wendy pushes her into the aisle behind them and gives a gesture that says lower your voice.

 When they were sure David and his companion had left they started to talk again " what are you doing here" Wendy asks "shopping" Kate answers in a sarcastic manner "it's my day off today and if I remember correctly you called in for sick leave so why are you sneaking up on him?" she looks in the current direction of David, "I did not spy on anyone" Wendy replies "sure" Kate says "anyways why did you apply for sick leave today?" "because I don't feel well, why else?" Wendy says, she continues moving to the checkout "but I'm fine now so I'll be at work tomorrow".

 Kate ended up going to Wendy's place after that, they both thought they could have a day where they relax together, so, with Wendy being ill they decided to stay at her place. They were watching a movie when someone knocked on the door, it was the guy living across the street, he had been here for a few months and he slowly grew close with the girls. "Chris hey" said Kate holding the door for him, he gives her a wave and walks to the living room " Hi Chris" Wendy looks up and greets him, "hey" he replies " you didn't go to work today so I figured something would be wrong" "she's sick" Kate says as she sits on the couch but he completely ignores her and turns to Wendy " why?" he asks " it's nothing and I'm fine now" she replies "okay, it seems like you guys are having fun I might as well join in" he says and sits. They all ended up sleeping in Wendy's place but it was a pretty frequent thing to happen so nobody was surprised.
