Chapter 84: Demon VS Oni.

Update: Many are confused, so I have to say this. Ryan and Kai has the same back story. They have the same soul. The exchange hinted about his past life and his current life.

When Kai ascended to the legendary level, he thought that his life soul, Unsellable Protagonist, is a good thing. It has the word protagonist on it. That couldn't be bad right?

He couldn't be more wrong. The more his life providence is strengthened, the more he will make mistakes in life. His actions will make people dissatisfied with him. The Energy Essence Art and White Space Art had been influenced by the rule of the Marvel Universe.

His Life Providence became a factor in his existence in the realm. To make it an Unsellable Protagonist, means that he will make the wrong decision, the reader couldn't relate to his actions. If an old man is drawing him, his story will just be a draft as the story will plop. None of his version of self realizes it, as only Kai could sense the Life Providence.

Right now, he is losing himself in the condensation. The process becomes difficult as an external factor comes into play. His requirement to break Kilgrave and drive him into despair had intrigued the remnant will of someone who had died a long time ago.

In his soul, Kai is hearing a calling. "Imagine if you knew of the existence of people...creatures of the night...who thrived on human suffering...on pain, on the deaths of innocents."

"Now imagine that you had the power to hunt them down...to stop them...to avenge the suffering they had caused. Could you? I can. I am called Zarathos and...vengeance will no longer be denied!"

"I can change your path. Burn your… life providence and replace it with a new one. Bond with me…" Kai keeps hearing an ethereal voice in his mind. It is disrupting the process of his life's soul condensation.

The reason that Kai loses control is because of the action of a particular spirit that acted outside of Mephisto's control.

In Hell's dimension, the Spirit of Vengeance is staying still for the first time. Luckily, Mephisto isn't paying attention to him.

As Kai is resisting, the impact of Zarathos is making his Essence Energy Art shakes for the first time.

You can imagine the old man is revisiting the manuscript he had thrown away.

In the illusionary white space, the old man is making scribbles on Kai's character sheet. "His family is dead because of a tyrant. Should I make him the new Punisher?"

Kai didn't know whether the space was real or not. He couldn't do anything to change the old man's mind! He is motionless, like a character in a video game, waiting to be controlled. But he can talk.

Ryan's deep seated insecurities had manifested itself into the figure of an old man that he know off. Today he needed to face his insecurities before he can go on any further in the cultivation he is using. Regretting the path he is taking afterward, Kai are looking at the old man in horror.

"No…I don't want this!" He screamed, but his voice did not reach the old man. The old man is still thinking deeply.

The Life Providence had shaken greatly. No one knows what is happening to Kai. Not even Ryan. When Kai wakes up, he won't even remember what had happened as it was all happening inside his head.

"He has a Latverian bloodline. Should I make him the new Doom?" The old man is thinking again.

"Nooo…please….let me be me…" Kai screams and begs until he spits out blood. But his voice didn't reach the old man.

"His desire for vengeance is an ideal host for the spirit of vengeance. It is almost perfect!" The old man seems to have decided.

In the real world. Kai's eyes become orange. Then, his eyes became fiery. It burns with the power of the spirit of vengeance!

"This is not good," Dawn said. Ryan was prepared to come back home. He can summon a spaceship from the inventory to fly back. Gwen will get suspicious, but he doesn't have another choice.

But it only for a split second. Ryan, Dawn, and the girls are now very confused. In Hell Dimension, the spirit of vengeance continues attacking the demons. No one knew what had happened to him.

Kai's bloodlust calmed down unexpectedly.

"What is going on?" Yelena asks.

Annika scolded her. "Don't jinx it. Do you want to fight him?" She is extremely nervous right now. Facing Kai is like facing a beast. She can't shake off the thought of fighting a rampaging beast.

Kilgrave is unconscious from the pressure. His leg is still in Kai's hand.

'How did he calm down?' Dawn thought seriously.

In the illusionary white space. The old man seems to have decided.

Kai is tearing up. His cheek is wet from his tears. The past him was a cowardly man, and his voice never reached the others.

Suddenly, a silhouette of a woman appeared in front of Kai. She had no face, nor can people tell what her appearance is.

"Who is making my baby sad? My baby couldn't be sad." She said lovingly. A repressed memory inside of Ryan's soul had come out to help him get through his ordeal.

"Vera…" Kai muttered a word when he saw her. His voice contained traces of longing and heartbreak.

"He is bullying my baby? Let me talk with him." The woman smiles kindly and patted Kai on his head.

The silhouette passes through what seems to be a door between dimensions and walks to the old man. Kai, who was created from Ryan's soul are smiling softly when he looked at her stern face scolding the old man.

"What are you doing?" She takes the manuscript from the old man.

The old man is startled. He is usually the only one there. " I am rewriting a character. He couldn't be sold this way."

Ryan's insecurities and his past are now clashing together. Kai managed to relive Ryan's repressed memories, freeing him from the shackle of his insecurities.

"Really? But I like him that way. He wanted to be a doctor even in his past. To fulfill the dream of his friend that passes before him. And to keep his promise with me."

"What is the past? He is a character. But his medical background is good. Should I make him the new Faiza Hussein? And let him wield Excalibur? He is good with a sword."

The old man's decision seems to have been changed. The insecurities started to become stronger and Kai was pressed with Zaratos' influence.

"Not that…" the woman wants to continue, but the old man becomes excited.

"He can become Leonard Samson! And even cure the Hulk! If we go another route, he can be the new Moonstone, Karla Sofen, and walk the villain and hero route at the same time."

"He can even become a true villain! Mister Sinister!" The old man is excited about the potential.

Ryan had been thinking about his existence in the world. He tries so hard to justify his existence at a time when he first transmigrated, before he could even find his love in the world. Kai had to face all of the insecurities before he can completely ascended.

"How about we keep him as he is. But minus whatever it is making him unlikeable." The woman gives her opinion sternly.

"People won't like him that way." The old man frowned.

"You've underestimated his character. He is the most beautiful man that holds his scarred soul with a smile. That don't give up until it's the end. The one who had saved me." The woman says while looking at Kai in the other dimension.

It looks like she is the only one that can see him. Even if the soul is only part of the man, she is glad to see him again.

" He will fail." The old man said. The character won't work.

"He will stand back up. I know he will." The woman is firm. She has seen it many times before. Even when he loses her.

The old man is thinking silently for a while. Finally, he decided to give it a shot. "Let's hope this will help him." The old man changes something about Kai.

It was such a small change but it made a big difference to Kai.

The woman smiles at Kai as the illusionary realm is disappearing. Her, along with it. She crosses the dimension to get to Kai once more.

"I have done what I can. You've been living well, right? Don't miss your meal when I am not there. God…do I wish we are together in another life. I miss you." She kissed Kai on his lips. Her figure dissipated into thin air.

"Vers..come back to me…" Kai begs. However, he too dissipated from the white space.

The future were built from our past and the decision we made along the way. It didn't define us , however our experience can become our helper whenever we are in a difficult situation.

Kai is now conscious again. He opened his eyes to see Dawn and the girls. Part of his hair turns white. It turned white at his sideburns and above, but not at the top of his hair. His body now is in pain.

His life's soul condensation… failed. No, he chooses it to fail. If he continues with his previous life providence, then he will be the most hated guy in this universe. Not that he will become a villain, but people will hate his entire existence, even if he does something right.

"What was I doing?" He asks Dawn. Without him realising it, a drop of tear falls from his tired eyes and stopped at his cheeks.

"Punching me," Dawn replied. He puts down his guard even though the girl is still putting theirs up. He also had tears inside his mask, but he is not sure why.

On Mars, Ryan who is sitting in a meditative state also had tears on his face. Like Dawn, he too didn't know why.

Kai said teasingly, "You must deserve it." He wiped the tears from his cheeks with the back of his hand.

He is back to his normal self. Yelena and Annika are very glad that they don't have to fight!

"What are you going to do with him?" Yelena asks.

"Oh wait. I forgot. " Kai said. He forgets that Kilgrave is in his grip. The Gate of Hell companion beast is still waiting for its food.

"I have a suggestion before I throw this bastard in. I need your help in doing that Dawn." Kai said. His bloodlust has calmed down so that he can think clearly now.

He can't directly burn Kilgrave. He needs to take a picture of him dead first. Also, he needs to know if Kilgrave had framed an innocent man before. Kilgrave's death will bring peace of mind to the girls that had been raped by him. When they know he won't come back, it will be easier to get them into therapy.

"You want me to enter his disgusting mind? No thank you!" Dawn said decisively. Never. Not in a million years.

"We can rent a memory sieve if you are reluctant. That means he shall live another day."

Dawn nods. He throws the man into a torture base, in which the man will suffer greatly for his crimes. The base isn't on the island. He will die first before he lets Kilgrave onto his home.

The next day, they use the memory sieve and find out he had framed more than 100 men. Kai recorded his confession and threw him inside the companion beast. The rapist burned until there was nothing left. Not even ashes.

Back to the night. Kilgrave has disappeared, and the Quatro is left there.

"You made a big mess," Dawn said. This incident is too big to be covered up.

"I know. What shall I do now?" Kai asks. He is puzzled about how to proceed.

'I know. But the girls need to help. Tell them the plan and get their consent.' Ryan said telepathically to both the clones there. He then explained the plan. Shield SUVs are approaching the place. They don't have much time left.

Kai nods. The plan is feasible. However, the girls needed to play along.

"You want us to do what now?" Yelena is shocked when she hears it.

Phil had come out of the broken building. The witness is all insane right now. They keep muttering about a demon. The figure of the man holding his head while crouching in fear keeps playing in the agent's mind.

Phil is solemn. This kind of incident, where 50 people lose their minds at the same time, is surely the work of a demon.

"Kai. Be safe... Damn it! If only I could get Eclipse's phone number!"

The agents are rushing to the place on the docks. The alarm rings over there, and the satellite reads of the same wind flow.

"Is it a wind demon this time?" Phil mumbles. He reported the situation to Nick Fury and asked for backup.

The most important thing for Fury right now is to ground Iron Man. He didn't want to expose Tony to the dark world prematurely. The guy still needs to grow.

Fury sends out the strike team there. Shield still didn't know Kai's part in all of this. He is a wild card. Fury knows the man's personality. Maybe Kai is fighting the demon.

*Boom* Shield's agent saw a man flying towards them. Phil quickly hit the brakes. The man crashes onto the glass window.

"Kai!" Phil yelled. He knows the ragdoll flying towards him. On the other side, two women in Oni masks are fighting a wind monster.

Kai pries himself from the drop, wipes the blood from his mouth, and joins the battle.

Yelena is pretending to fight. Her covered eyes are full of disdain. "This is the best they can come out with?"

What they are fighting is a summon of Dawn. A wind spirit, disguised with illusion to look like a monster. It's only a tier 3 wind magic. The strength is not very strong. Yelena can take it by herself, but right now…

*Bam* Yelena is hit ( on purpose) and flies towards Kai. The doctor catches her and slides backward to show the monster's strength. Annika is preparing for the final blow from the gap Kai and Yelena make for her.

"Yahhh" She screams while cutting the demon in half with all her might. Her finger will be curled from the cringe if she is not holding a sword. The wind spirit dissipated into the wind. The battle is now over. Once again, Shield is late to the scene!

"What happened here Kai?" Phil said. He knows one Oni girl. But are there two of them now? Is it an organization? How come he had never heard of them before?

Yelena steadies herself. She moves over from Kai's arm. "Thank you for your help," she says to Kai.

The plan is to make it seem like Kai is helping them fight the demon. That way, he can justify whatever it was if he gets caught in the security cameras or his DNA is on the scene.

Yelena regroups with Annika. "Why do I feel unsatisfied?" She whispered.

"We didn't do anything…" Annika said. They are just mascots today. And they give out a performance. The girls' mood soured, so they planned something nasty.

"That will surely lift our mood."

"Sure will."

They unanimously come to a decision. To make trouble for Kai.

Kai is forging a story for Coulson. Of course, the story is from the master of story forging, Sir Ryan Knight.

"I saw the girls fighting the creature at Hell's Kitchen. We managed to push him back. Never have I thought he would attack me at my place."

" We tracked the demon who is wreaking havoc all over the city to the docks. I could only help the girls fight them. I couldn't kill it. " Kai said sadly. His [elementary proficiency in Acting] is put to good use. There are no holes in his story.

Yelena and Annika walk over to Kai who is giving his statement. Suddenly, Annika grips Kai's collar. She pulls him closer to her.

*Chup* She kisses him on the lips. Yelena also does the same. It is only a light peck. Kai and Dawn are extremely confused right now.

"You have our acknowledgment, kind warrior. May we meet again someday. That time, I will bear your child " Annika said in a noble tone.

Then the girls run away from the scene by jumping on a rooftop. Their figure disappeared from the tracking as they teleported back to the island.

Dawn is amused seeing Kai's misery. He didn't know that the girl was also planning something for him. He will get in so much trouble with Hela when he gets back.

The agents and Kai are stunned. They keep trying to process what happened.

"Did you just get a fiance?" Phil asks. He will never let this matter go.

Kai comes back to reality. "Wait what?"

His body is still weak right now. Phil notices it. The backlash from a failed condensation will cripple someone in its universe. Kai is different as he is strengthened with other stuff. He is standing and will recover his health, but to condense a living soul again, will be extremely difficult for him.

"Let's go. I will take you home." Phil escorted Kai away. The battle is already over. They saw with their own eyes the monster's demise. The chaos of the night is now over.

"Wait, my house is broken. Where should I stay?"

"He is injured?" A woman asks from the other side of the call. Phil answered honestly. "Yes. It seems to be a great battle. His hair turned white."

"He even got a fiance," Phil said in a teasing manner. *Crack* A sound of something breaking is heard from the other side of the call.

"Tell me more," Natasha demanded. Phil got himself in trouble.

At this time, Kai is going to his secret base to meet Skye and Jessica. The girls are guarded by Park Shin.

It is almost 24 hours. The pheromone's work on the girl is now lifted. Their body is returning to their mind.

"Thank you, Shin. I will make it up to you later." Kai said. He needed to stay under Shield monitoring last night, so he didn't come to the base. He checked into a hotel and stayed there. He told Phil that Skye is staying with Ava.

He walked to the transparent cell where the girl is restrained. They woke up a few times last night. Park Shin had to sedate them back to sleep, otherwise, they wanted to kill each other.

A few minutes later, they are fully conscious. "Release me!" Jessica demanded. She is very afraid right now. It is a normal reaction after being imprisoned in her own body.

Kai answered nonchalantly. " Please wait a moment." He opened Skye's cell first and took her out of the restraining clothes.

Without saying anything, Skye hugged him tightly. Kai's chest is wet from her tears. He hugged her back. The nice moment is ruined as Jessica keeps screaming.

"Okay, I'll release you." He opened Jessica's cell. She tried to tackle him, but he stopped her by holding her head.

"Calm down. I am releasing you now aren't I." He isn't mad to see her reaction. It is understandable for her to be violent. His strength makes Jessica more anxious.

She calmed down a bit after she was released. Skye asked about the man who controlled them.

"He is dead," Kai answered honestly. Both Skye and Jessica are shocked.

Jessica thought about her career as a hero. On the first day, she fell into the hands of a villain. Maybe she isn't cut to be a hero after all.

Skye is worried about something else. "Did you kill him?"

Kai didn't answer the question. The silence had answered everything Skye needed to know. She has the best father in the world.

Jessica wants to leave. Kai let her do so. He didn't have any plans for Jessica. But Skye stopped her.

"You can learn about how to use your power from Kai. He is a great teacher. I'm sure you can be a great superhero if you learn."

"Thank you. But I'm not sure that I want to be a hero anymore." She says her goodbyes and leaves. Or she wanted to. She seems frozen when she looks at the display model in the center of the base.

"It's…V!" She looks at Kai with shock greater than when she knows his strength. "Are you V?" she asks hurriedly.

To her disappointment, Kai shook his head.

"V? Why do you think that?" Skye is curious. Then she sees the suit in the middle of the base. "You're V?" She asks, but part of her already accepted that as a statement.

"I'm really not," Kai answered helplessly. But it seems that the explanation isn't enough. He is now surrounded by the two girls who are checking him out top to bottom.
