Chapter Fourteen

Abigail and the jewelry designer named Ron rode in the carriage towards an unknown location. She didn't ask Martha to follow her as she was heading towards another destination with Travis but they all had the same objective in mind.

Finding jewels!!

Ron and Martha had given her information on where to get the best jewels and ores to make jewelry so they had to split up to cover up more ground. Before she left the manor she had asked her brother for a little money as her funds weren't enough to buy such expensive jewels and being the loving brother he was he happily handed over a few bank notes. She was happy at first but when she glanced at the amount written on the notes she froze and shoved them back into her brothers hands.

Five hundred thousand gold coins!! She couldn't accept that much.

But gabriel didn't care and handed it back to her saying he'd give her more if she wanted. Was he crazy? This amount was similar to her pocket money for three years!! And he wanted to give her more?? She began to fear men with a sister complex, they were insane.

As she sat in her carriage and remembered this, she couldn't help to feel guilty about him giving her so much but she quickly shook of the feeling. She was a business woman er.... girl and she would pay him back later.

Soon the duo arrived at a dark alley with beggars on the sides that stared at them greedily. Abigail felt frightened of the looks they gave her so she lowered her head. She was currently putting on a yellow wig and her eyes were brown. Her face was smaller than usual due to the face changing potion she had taken earlier. Her facial features and hair color was to distinct and would have given her unwanted attention.

The carriage continued to move until the alley grew narrower and less people were present until it was completely empty and the carriage was already touching both walls of alley.

" Are you sure the carriage can go any further? ", she asked Ron who had been leading the way. He looked towards her with eyes as if saying ' don't you trust me? '

She didn't ask further and watched as they kept going down the alley. Soon Ron began to trace his fingers along the carriage walls. Abigail didn't understand at first but soon a light shone and a strange symbol appeared on were he had traced.

It was a magic symbol!!!

She had heard of it from her tutors and they showed her examples. Not all people could write them and just usually carried jade totems with them instead so this was her first time seeing it. She stared at Ron who was busy feeding magic to the symbol and wondered how he got to know it and also make sure she learned from him as well.

She was deep in thought and was caught of guard when she felt a ripple in the air and soon they were no longer in the dirty alley. They were currently in the middle of a busy street that had stalls and buildings at every corner. She was amazed and turned to Ron.

Sensing her gaze, he smiled and began to explain. That alley way was a teleport gateway to the black market and the symbol he drew was like a key to gain access to it. He then began to tell her that there were hidden teleport stations round the district and not many were aware. He also said that certain conditions must first be met before one could use them like how he had to wait till they reached a point in the alley before he drew the symbol and he also had to feed it a considerable amount of magic energy.

Abigail noted everything he said down as she would like to make use of such portals in the future. The carriage rode through the streets till they reached the jewelry and ore section. She had never been to such a place before so she was stunned by the amount of ores and jewels sold here.

They first bought tons of ores that were suitable for the jewelry and asked for it to be delivered to the workshop. She then went the the jade section. She was familiar with picking jade in her past life so she was good at appraising such things. The picked a total of ten raw materials of different sizes but didn't cut it yet.

She had spent a total of a hundred thousand gold coins!!

Ron then led her to the jewel section, as the two went through Abigail had bumped into a tall figure when she wasn't paying attention. She had looked up to apologize but was met with his beautiful hazel eyes that seemed to be very familiar. She was about to speak but the man had walked off. She looked for his figure but she couldn't catch sight of it.

She gave up and continued to the look around with Ron. Somewhere in the district, an auction was being held and a certain lady had been purchasing the valuable gems and jewels being presented. Everyone looked over at the duo who had came in earlier with envious gazes. The man sat and observed while the lady had been raising bids, soon they had bought most of the valuable goods and were on their way out. The carriage rode towards Ron's workshop but before they could reach they were stopped by men in black on a lonely road. Travis got down to see what they wanted but the men soon attacked.

They were here to kill them.

Travis quickly surrounded them with fire before running toward with his sword covered in flames. It was an amplified weapon! He rushed through slashing at the assassins but he soon met his match as one of them had water magic and things became difficult. Martha saw that the fight wasn't in his favor any longer and he'd be overpowered soon enough just to show that the assassins were highly skilled.

She quickly jumped out of the carriage and picked the bow of a dead assassin then infused it with with her magic and shot it towards the weakest assassins. Travis noticed her help but didn't look away from his current opponent, the water user was very skilled in his magic but was no match for travis in terms of strength and skill.

But naturally, fire and water powers always clash making it difficult for Travis to end the battle quickly, the water user was aware of this and didn't plan of ending the battle at all so he could tire travis. The assassin's thought was soon interrupted as an arrow was shot at his eye.

The immense pain caused him to lose focus and Travis quickly slashed at him and the man dropped dead, travis expecting to fight the rest was stunned to see they were all dead.

He turned to Martha and smiled embarrassingly, she dealt with all the rest.

" You know how to use a bow? "

" I know a little ", she smiled and soon the two left the gory scene.

Abigail waited for the two at the workshop as they hadn't returned. They should have returned before her as where they went wasn't to far. Where was a phone when you needed one??

As she was pacing around the two soon came back and met an angry looking cute little girl. The two gushed in their hearts but didn't dare show it.

" Why are you late?? ", Abigail asked.

" We were delayed on the way ", Martha replied.

" Some assassins attacked us after the auction but... "

" Assassins? Are you guys okay? ", she asked worryingly as she checked them for injuries.

They were touched by their ladies concern and nodded. They then told her how they were attacked and the details they remembered. She nodded as he didn't know anything about it and decided not to think about it now. As they began to discuss their next move, the bell at he door rang and a figure walked in.
