I do not own the cover of this novel, credit goes to: Joshua Raphael on Artstation. IF the artist wishes for me to take this down, please leave a message! Otherwise, please check his art out, its amazing. Before you start reading the reviews I advise you to read for yourself first, positive or negative reviews might give you a wrong pre based idea on the story, many great stories on this website have horrible reviews and many poor stories have positive ones, you are the judge of your choice don't let others make you refuse a story just because their opinion of it is different of yours. Happy reading :)

Ollivanders and Tom's wand

As I looked forward I saw peeling gold letters over the door of the shop read: "Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C.". The shop's display consisted of a solitary wand laying on a faded purple cushion in the dusty window. The shop was tiny, empty except for a single, spindly chair in the corner. Thousands of narrow boxes containing wands were piled right up to the ceiling of the tiny shop, and the whole place had a thin layer of dust about it. Opening the shop door the sound of a bell rung out in the seemingly empty shop and echoed for a while. As I walked around I couldn't help but sneeze due to the large amounts of dust everywhere.

"Would it kill you to clean the place?" I muttered as I continued to look around. "and If I said it would? what would you do about it?" A raspy old voice came from behind me making my hair stand up on end. I felt a chill down my back before I made a half turn and performed a side kick out of reflex. By the time I realised that I might have hit Ollivanders a tap came from my shoulder.

"That's not a very nice way to greet the person that will give you your wand Sir.." he said stretching out the last part waiting for me to give him my name. " Knight, Thomas Knight. And I could say the same thing about you, Mr Ollivander. Is that any way to treat your guests?" I asked back sharply. "you are quite the interesting fellow, Mr Knight," said Ollivander as he moved away from me and made his way behind the counter. "that is up to the perspective of the individual" I answered dismissively before patting the accumulating dust off of my shoulder. "yes yes, quite true Indeed, very well put." he nodded in praise. "so, you are here for your new wand I assume?" he asked.

"That is correct" I answered succinctly while making eye contact with the old man. How did this bag of bones dodge my kick? I wandered before being interrupted by Ollivander. "Well Mr Knight, which one is your dominant hand? " he asked while taking out a tape measure, rulers and other stuff meant for measuring. "My right hand" I answered. He nodded and stayed silent for a little while before proceeding to take measurements of my height, arm length, the circumference of my head, length of my legs and torso, etc. He soon finished, packed up his equipment and looked at the piece of parchment in front of him that had all the measurements he took, before disappearing into the dozen shelves holding hundreds of wands.

He would pop out like a whack-a-mole every now and then making me jump before disappearing again. Finally, he came back with over a dozen wands. By now I had pulled a chair over and sat down since I couldn't be bothered to stand there. He delicately placed the wands down on the counter before taking off the lid and presenting them to me. I had stood up by now and made my way over.

They were of different colours, from black to red to even white in colour. As the old man went to give me the first wand he stared at me expectantly. "well? go on, there not for decoration." he said in annoyance. I flicked the wand in my hand a massive flame came out of it. "no-no, thats not the one, put it back before you burn my shop kid." he said hurriedly. I placed the wand back and continued to test them. Some melted the floor, some burned the furniture, some flooded the floor of the shop and one of them even made several dozen wands still in the shelves fly out and onto the floor making a mess.

I could only look at the old man apologetically as he stared daggers at me while he picked up the wand boxes on the floor. "kid, what is it with you, I've tried 30 different wands and still nothing." he said exasperatedly. I could only smile stiffly. Ollivander stood there contemplating something seriously for a while before looking at me for a good minute in silence. The room by now was a mess but it was eerie quiet as the stalemate continued. He soon snapped his fingers. "aha! I got it you evil bugger." he said while looking at me, but it was as if he wasn't talking to me.

He disappeared and came back a little while later holding a long box with a dark colour. He placed it on the counter and looked at me again signalling me to come forward. he opened the box and a black wand appeared. It had a silver lining that made it a subtle but handsome wand. As I picked up the wand It glowed with a dark light before an intense aura surrounded me and the wand and sent up a massive gale within the store. After a while, the wind died down and a dishevelled wrinkled Ollivander walked towards me with a sullen look.

" you are a very annoying brat you know that? look at what you have done to my shop!" he said furiously as he pointed everywhere. It indeed was a mess, nothing was left intact. But soon a curious expression rose on his face as I stared at him cluelessly. "very interesting nonetheless Mr Knight. That the wand that chose you was a Yew wood wand with a dragon heartstring is surprising.

"yew wands are among the rarer kind, and their ideal match is likewise unusual, and occasionally notorious. The wand of yew are reputed to endow its possessor with the power of life and death, which might, of course, be said of all wands; and yet yew retained a particularly dark and fearsome reputation in the spheres of duelling and all curses. For you to be chosen by such a wand, makes me wonder if it's a good thing or a bad thing, It has yet to be decided. I'm interested to see what you will accomplish with this wand Mr Knight, I'm sure you will be an accomplished wizard nonetheless" he said hoarsely and turned around to fix his destroyed shop.
