Chapter 146: Thunderbird

Murphy was about to cast Displacement Illusion when a bolt of lightning struck him, interrupting his spell.

Then, a pair of giant claws grabbed Murphy, smashing him to the ground with tons of force.

The thunderbird was enormous, almost as big as a truck, weighing at least three to four tons.

In an instant, Murphy felt as if all his bones were shattered.

Fortunately, after undergoing advanced Animagus transformation, his body's strength far exceeded that of a normal person. Although this blow broke several of his bones, it didn't kill him.

But the thunderbird's actions didn't stop there. It seemed determined to completely finish Murphy off, raising its claws to stomp again.

Murphy immediately transformed into a raven, escaping from under the thunderbird's feet, avoiding the attack. He blended into the flock of crows, attempting to escape the thunderbird's pursuit.

The crows, scared off by the thunderbird's arrival, fled in all directions, cawing, "A godly bird! The godly bird and Moga are fighting..."

But they didn't fly too far away, still gossiping nearby.

The flock of crows provided good cover for Murphy, who didn't believe anyone could recognize him among the thousand-plus crows.

However, to his surprise, the thunderbird only looked confused for a moment before locking onto him again, opening its beak wide, and several thunderbolts exploded, blasting a few crows that couldn't evade into pieces.

What's happening? How did it find him? Murphy didn't understand, but with his extraordinary agility, he once again dodged the thunderbird's attack. However, he was not in a good situation, as Animagus transformation couldn't heal his injuries. Each flap of his wings made the pain in his body more intense.

Better leave this place and treat the injuries first.

Thinking this, he immediately headed for his wand on the ground, with the thunderbird chasing closely behind. But at that moment, the petrified lizard that he had just knocked unconscious shook its head, surprisingly waking up.

As soon as it opened its eyes, it saw a crow and a thunderbird flying towards it, startling it into instinctively spraying venom.

This unforeseen event completely caught Murphy off guard. He spun his body, dodging to the side, but was still splashed by the venom on his left wing, immediately feeling sluggishness and stiffness spreading to other parts of his body.

Bad, it's petrifying venom!

Being so small as a raven, with fast blood flow, he would soon be fully petrified.

Deciding quickly, Murphy transformed back into a wizard, only to see his left arm almost completely turned into stone, and the greyish color spreading towards his chest.

He reached for his wand, which jumped into his hand from the ground, but he didn't immediately cast Displacement Illusion.

He had to use an antidote on himself first; otherwise, even if he escaped, he would end up as a statue.

"Box, come to me!"

Coming to capture the petrified lizard, how could Murphy not prepare a potion to treat petrification?

In his Undetectable Extension Bag, there were two bottles of Mandrake Juice Potion, effective both internally and externally against petrification.

The Undetectable Extension Bag immediately jumped up from the ground near the petrified lizard, eager to leap into Murphy's hands.

However, just as his fingers were about to touch the bag, a giant claw intervened, grabbing the bag and then crushing it.

"Bang!" As if a white hole opened in the thunderbird's claw space, countless items exploded out like fireworks.

Clothes, food, firearms, bombs, potions, wooden crates, metal racks, medical equipment, and even beds, cabinets, TVs, and more, in an instant, enough to fill an entire warehouse's worth of items, burst out from that spatial hole.

This turn of events even startled the thunderbird, which quickly flew up.

Murphy, quick-witted, "Mandrake Juice, come to me! Bicarbonate, come to me!"

Several bottles of potion flew out from the chaos, Murphy, with only one hand left, had to insert the wand back into his waistband to catch the potions and place them on the ground.

The petrification had spread to his left chest; he felt his heart almost frozen, vision darkening, but he found the bottle of Mandrake Juice, pouring all of it into his mouth.

As he searched for the bicarbonate essence, the thunderbird, seemingly scared by the continuously erupting mountain of items, screeched and suddenly unleashed thunder, striking those items.

Murphy, hearing the screech, looked up to see this scene, his heart skipping a beat.

"No!"

But it was too late, the lightning ignited the cloth and paper, shattering the potions, and more dangerously, one of the bolts hit a pack of explosives.

Murphy, with only his newly sentient left hand, grabbed a bottle from the ground and took to the air, reaching for his wand to cast Displacement Illusion.

But he was a moment too slow; the explosion's bright light engulfed everything, followed by continuous secondary explosions.

"Boom boom boom!"

In the continuous explosions, Murphy, charred, burst out from the flames, crashing into the ground far away.

"Cough, cough cough..."

His right lung was pierced by a shard of glass, causing him to cough up blood, one eye seemingly blind, ears ringing.

He struggled to turn his head, looking at the potion in his left hand.

No worries, he still had bicarbonate essence. Drinking it would allow him to recover to a movable state, then he could leave.

Bones felt like they were falling apart, he could hardly move a finger, but he still dragged his left hand, as if it took an entire century, to bring the potion bottle before his eyes.

About to bite open the cap and drink the potion, the text on the bottle stopped him.

"Bicarbonate Growth Factor."

Not bicarbonate essence!

Bicarbonate Growth Factor is indeed extracted from bicarbonate essence, but its function is only to accelerate cell division, without the other components of bicarbonate essence, the growth factor indiscriminately promotes the proliferation of any cells, including bacteria and other organisms.

It's a biological agent, usable for producing T-cell therapy potions, even Andrew once considered using it to speed up Animagus potions, but it's not a medicine itself.

Drinking it, most likely due to its effects, would cause the body's cells to divide at a hundredfold rate, either causing widespread cancer or rapid aging.

Applying it to a wound, maybe the wound could indeed be healed by the accelerated division of cells, but more likely it would cause various tissue proliferations, turning the person into a deformed monster.

"Fuck!"

He did indeed only say "Bicarbonate, come to me!" so among the life-saving potions that flew out, including one bottle of Bicarbonate Growth Factor wasn't wrong, it was just his bad luck, choosing a poison among the few that could save him.

"Still a chance, right, the wand, the wand..."

Loss of blood and pain began to blur his consciousness, just as he was about to check on the wand.

Suddenly, something thudded next to him, Murphy startled, catching a glimpse of what seemed to be a robust bird claw.

The next moment, he saw the thunderbird again.

Smoke and storm roared, forming a terrifying tornado, and it rose from the flames, surrounded by fire, like a phoenix from legends, but the fire also scorched the thunderbird's flesh, pain causing it to scream pitifully.

It seemed to have gone mad.
