Chapter 5: Rewards

[ You have completed your Quest to learn a spell, check the Quests Tab, to claim your Reward ]

Canceling the Wand-Lighting Charm with a swift motion, he thought 'Quest', since he didn't wanted to say it aloud. Glancing around, he quickly realised Narcissa had already left, her departure going unnoticed as he was quite immersed in mastering the charm. It appeared so, that more time had passed than he thought.

1. Learn your first Spell (finished) ]

You successfully learned to cast your first spell (Wand-Lighting Charm) ]

[ Reward: Spell Tab (claim) ]

[[ --- ]]

As he thought about claiming the reward, the quest tab was cleared and left empty, but a new system notification showed up at the same time.

[ The Spell Tab has been unlocked, please say 'Spells' to open it ]

opening it he was greeted by a big tab, that looked quite empty

Charms ]

[ - Wand-Lighting Charm Lv. 1 ( 0 / 100 xp ) ]

[[ --- ]]

'What does the Level signify? What happens when it reaches 2? And how do I even increase it?', he wondered. Resolving to experiment, he casted the spell several more times to observer any influence on the level.

After numerous additional castings, Mordred checked the Spell Tab, only to find that the proficiency hadn't budged even a bit. Still not satisfied, he tried it again, this time observing his Mana Flow carefully, feeling every change, or at least tried to do it. 'So maybe that is the reason', he thought as he tried to influence his Mana with his will and check how the changes would affect the spell.

The resulting charm flicked in response and became quite unstable. He basically just changed the Mana Signature of the spell slightly, trying other ways out to change it, like sometimes rotating the mana, giving it a certain spin. Changing the structure of the mana, making it change the colour and so on. In the end nothing much happened except the xp going up from 0 to 45. But hey, that was some progress, just not so much as he had wished for, but still.

In a few more days, he could bring the xp bar to reach the maximum, but he wouldn't do that for now, since other spells were currently more useful than getting better at the Lumos Spell. Rather he would learn some other spells, that he could actually use in combat or at least learn some utility charms.

Since it was already grew quite late, he departed the drawing room, making his way back to his chamber. The moon hung high, its pale light casting a cold, mystical glow upon the grounds. Through the window, he could make out the distant treeline of a forest, the inky silhouettes of ancient trunks and twisted branches reaching up like gnarled fingers. Closer, serveral solitary trees dotted the landscape, their limbs swaying slightly in the night breeze, shadows dancing across the silvered grass beneath. An air of eerie tranquility blanketed the nocturnal scene beyond the glass.

Laying in the plush comfort of hisking-sized bed his drifted back to his former world, where he had was merely an orphan - possessionless and uncared for. But now, everything had changed. He was the heir of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black, born to reign, to stand above everyone else. But was that really him anymore? He couldn't help but wonder if this was his true self or if his personality was perhaps influenced by the original body's owner's memories, lingering within this body.

Tomorrow he will go out and learn some new spells, have you any ideas what it could be? ;P
