Chapter 27: Fresh ideas for a dry brain

The winter vacations were over, William had spent the days with his training in the arts of concealment, the book sent by Lord Rosier was complicated, it had a lot of very unorthodox and ancient words.

The system in his head could only react slightly to the incantations by placing them with a one or two percent understanding, basically nothing but William was happy to see some progress.

William's own research on the philosopher's stone was not important to the white-haired man, at one time he had an interest in having it to use as an augmenter for his spells but it would be difficult to escape Dumbledore's eyes with the stone, saving Nicolas Flamel's life was also out of the question, once Professor Quinrrell's secret was discovered the decision to destroy the stone would be made anyway.

William's goal was not the philosopher's stone or Nicolas Flamel himself, he would have liked to succeed in all his work but what he sought was to know all about magic, to explore the world and learn as much as possible. He did not want to face Voldemort but he would be ready if necessary and it would be necessary for his plans, the truth was that he would face any dark wizard that stood in his way.

For now he would study at Hogwarts as planned for the seven years, he would learn as much as he could, that included magical creatures as was the case with Pruna, the griffin he got earlier.

Under the intense pace of learning and the constant walls in his learning, William sought some clean air, outside the library, he did not choose to go with Hagrid as he wanted to rest, he stretched out on the grass and looked at the sky.

"What do I do now?" he asked himself out loud, in William's mind were all the events of the first installment of the Harry Potter story, he had to win against Quinrrell if he wanted to advance his plans but it seemed impossible, facing a teacher at school was outrageous plus it would be the second time the two would face each other, it would draw too much attention.

Influence in the school was necessary, right now in the eyes of the professors he was no different than his brothers or malfoy, if he wanted to make a selfish request to Dumbledore he had to earn the credit and the only way right now was to help in the case of the philosopher's stone.

Between his thoughts and his only visible figure from the sky, William could see a familiar face in front of him "did the books bore you?"

"No, I was just taking a break to swallow all the information" William stood up to look at Cho Chang in front of him.

"It was a surprise to see you out of the library and stretched out on the lawn, I thought there was something wrong"

"no, nothing wrong with me" William mumbled craning his neck slightly "as I said I was digesting information and sorting out some doubts"

Cho's attention was focused on the old book at William's side "I have never seen this book before".

"It's a gift from my grandfather" William answered casually, it's an old book but it's impossible for a girl like her to understand its content, maybe more experienced witches could do it casually but in this case it's impossible.

Cho chang had opened the book to see inside, she maybe hadn't noticed but she was sitting next to William, the white-haired boy didn't mind since in the 21st century that was normal but for Hogwarts students it wasn't the same, for many to see William the little morph wizard next to Cho Chang was scandalous.

"It is very difficult to understand, there are many words that are not used today and when it talks about potions it mentions ingredients that do not exist or cannot be found, are you sure it is an authentic book?" asked Cho Chang pointing to a specific paragraph "Here it mentions that the tears of the centaurs and the blood of a dragon are ingredients for a potion that changes the sex of a person".

"I don't really have any information about this book, my grandfather sent it to me during Christmas and it doesn't seem to have been opened for many years" William told Cho chang "he mentioned that I could find spells to become invisible but many of these spells are hard to learn or I don't have the amount of magic needed to use them, it's useless to have them if I can't use them. I wish I had a way to use strong spells with my current magic" William gave a slight sigh closing his eyes and dropping his back to the grass again.

"What if you use the spells on a smaller scale?" asked Cho Chang with a vague idea "You told me about potions before and you also talked about enchantments with me, your ideas propose muggle solutions and I lived among muggles so I have a bit of experience"

"What is your idea?" asked William curiously but formulating his own idea in his mind.

"The flames on a stove" mentioned Cho Chang "on a gas stove you can choose which amount of gas you use for cooking by making the flame smaller or larger as the case may be so wouldn't it be possible to do the same with magic?"

William's eyes widened "use magic on a smaller scale" William muttered under his breath "The windwardium leviosa of an inexperienced wizard can lift feathers and the more skilled heavier objects, with the necessary understanding heavier objects and living objects can be lifted.... I just have to understand the spell to the point of using it with less power" William stood up in one fell swoop "Thank you Cho!" exclaimed the white-haired man exalted hugging the surprised Cho, without giving her time to respond or reciprocate the hug William took off running towards the library again.

"I'm glad I could help you" said Cho Chang looking at William's back.
