The Wizarding World! Part-2

"So you have been living in the streets ever since?" Professor McGonagall asked and Harry nodded slightly with his head down. She sighed as the situation was a little more complicated than she initially thought, "It's nothing to be ashamed of Hector," she said softly as Harry turned to look at her with an embarrassed expression on his face, "you have survived more than anyone else had ever had to..." she looked like the kid slowly nodded and she paused for a second, trying to figure out how to continue now, a simple question about magic turned into such a clusterfuck.

She took a deep breath and then explained, "So you just know how to do magic and don't know anything about the magical society?" she asked and Harry nodded.

"Okay, so let's start with that, you are a wizard, a wizard is a muggle with the ability to manipulate and store magic inside them," she pulled out her wand which immediately drew his attention, the wooden stick was smooth like it was polished, she waved it around and the spoon floated just like it had before, "Wizards hid from the muggle world due to the discrimination we faced in the past, the magical society is just like a muggle society just that we are hidden from muggles. We have our own government, our own schools, Hogwarts is the best school in Britain." She paused as she looked at Harry seeing how he was taking all of this in.

"How am I a wizard and others in the muggle world are not?" Harry asked before he clarified, "I mean, can wizards can be born only from wizard parents?" he measured his face showing an earnest expression.

Harry knew he had to be in the mindset of an 11-year-old orphan kid, an 11-year-old who just wanted to know where he came from and did his parents die? Did they abandon him, were they muggles? or were they magicals?

As Harry adjusted his mindset, Prof. McGonagall answered, "No, it's not necessary for you to have magical parents if you are a wizard, wizards born from muggles are called muggle-borns... no student named Jackson ever studied in Hogwarts during my time there," she hesitantly nodded. Harry nodded with a disappointed expression.

"Come on we need to do your shopping for Hogwarts, we'll talk more on the way..." Prof. McGonagall replied thinking seeing more of the magical world would overshadow the disappointing news that he just got. Harry nodded as his plans started to form in his mind.

'I need to discretely search for information on Potters and my birth parents, also I need more information on this magical government and the laws, I don't want any attention directed on my already flimsy background...'

{Ollivanders, Diagon Aley, London}

{1:22 PM, 2nd Aug 1991}

"...9 and 1/2 inches long, made of Yew with a Phoenix feather as the core." The old man said as he presented a white wand to Harry, even before he held the wand in his hand, Harry felt the room temperature plummet, the wand was cold to touch but the warmth that erupted from his core made Harry feel warm and happy. A small smile involuntarily appeared on his face as he felt his magic flowing through the wand as easy as breathing, he pointed the wand towards a stool that easily floated in front of his eyes. Harry's dark eyes glittered as he looked at the white wand and cast [Observe].

[Harry Potter's wand]

[Wood: Yew]

[Core: Phoenix feather]

[Compatibility: 99%]

[Loyalty: 10]

[Versatility: 7]

[Power: 9]

[Trace: Active, can detect when magic is performed around the wand.]

"Fascinating..." the barmy old man that Harry had discarded spoke as he watched the spectacle, in front of him. Harry turned towards him and asked, "What's so fascinating Mr. Ollivander?" He asked politely.

Ollivander shook his head and stated, "The last time I sold the wand with that combination, the wielder of that wand went on to do great things, terrible yes, but great!" he exclaimed excitedly as if he could see the future, Harry looked in his glazed eyes and shook his head, he was not going to even try to wrap his head around that statement. Harry was about to continue when Ollivander continued, "The wands made from Yew are always very selective with their choices, a Yew wand is reputed to endow its possessor with the power of life and death, which might, of course, be said of all wands, but it retains a particularly dark and fearsome reputation in the spheres of dueling and all curses. The Phoenix core wands are the hardest to tame and to personalize, and their allegiance was usually hard-won but their loyalty is unwavering." And with that as if a switch was flipped he said, "That would be Seven galleons."

"uhh..." Even Harry who had seen various mad scientists was unnerved by him, he quickly counted out 7 golden coins and placed them on the table before he dipped out of the old shop.

"Did you manage to find a wand, Mr. Jackson?" Prof. McGonagall asked.

"Yes Professor," Harry replied politely as he showed her his white wand, he noticed that Prof. McGonagall's gaze lingered at the white wand for a second before she continued, "Let's go Mr. Jackson I have someone I want you to meet."

As Harry followed the old professor back to the pub, he marveled how easy it was to infiltrate into this society, there were no checks done on his magic or anything, just that one letter served as his passport and visa as he was given a free rein to join the magical society.

'Although getting something done here would be even more problematic, the laws here do not favor the muggle-born at all, it's almost a different kind of racism...'

As Harry pondered his future plans, Prof. McGonagall similarly looked back at the pitiful 11-year-old walking quietly behind her, initially, she thought he would rebel, seeing as he had lived in the streets so shouldn't be used to obeying someone.

'Maybe I thought it from a wrong angle, he has survived the worst that he could have for the last how many years, he has survived, so he must be doing the same thing, trying to get information about this new society and the best way to quietly integrate himself.'

Her heart went out to the paranoid kid as she watched his eyes linger on every shadow they passed through. She opened the meeting door and walked in, there were two people present in the room, the female had aristocratic features but instead of a blank face, she was laughing with the man who was sitting beside her. Upon their entrance, they smiled politely as the Black haired woman came forward to hug her.

"Andromeda"

"Minerva"

'I would have liked him to stay with Lily, but he's too close to his age, there is no reason to put the Potters through more than they had already endured...'

"Come on Hector, meet Andromeda Tonks (née Black) and her husband Ted Tonks, they'll be taking care of you till you graduate..."

'What???'
