Chapter 9

[3rd Person POV]

-The Beaver-

"Your mission is simple , there are fragments of light that are like crystals . You will bring 7 of them . Collect them from the branches of the World Tree Bayterek , they are amongst the many leaves of the tree ." "Now drink this ." the instructor ordered .

Later the instructor placed a hand on the shoulder of the boy and apperated .

They appeared in an area that had giant woods slithering on and above the ground .

The instructor said "You will climb the tree by yourself . " and vanished .

The boy slowly looked up and saw the majesty scene in front of him .

A great tree that reaches unknown heights with great branches shadowing the land below . Little light clusters colored with the tones of yellow and green with shiny white ones among .

It was so wide that it looked like a green wall with enormous width .

"Oh my god !!" the boy looked at the tree with wide open mouth . Even though 'god' wasn't a word he would say freely since his friend 'Snake' would frown with distaste whenever he heard the word it was exactly the time for the word .

At the same two shrieking sounds were heard one was pleasant the other was terrifiying .

Two giant birds that were as big as a giant cruise ship with enormously long and sharpening beaks.

The bird were singing while the other normal birds were humming to their melody .

Their sounds were echoing in the sky like millions of birds were making the same sound .

They were like giant phoenixes with the light trace they were leaving on the sky .

One was shiny pinkish red the other was crimson as dry blood .

This pair of the birds were known as Tuğrul and Konrul . They were a pair of guardians that was not merged yet . Once merged it was believed they would become a godly entity with two heads in one body .

They would become 'Öksökö' a two headed giant phoneix with bronze claws .

It would be so big with one wing it could wrap the Sun with the other the Moon .

It could rain thunder and waits the door of skies . At the end seperating the dark and the light , becoming a rather dualistic figure .

While the boy was looking around and trying to collect his mind there were other creatures around the tree that was silently watching him .

Archuras , waiting for the boy to move . While they were no evil creatures it was an honorable responsibility to watch the guests of the Great Tree . They were the grandparents of the forests .

After the boy finally woke up from the daze and started walking towards the World Tree with a helpless expression he wasn't aware the approaching Tree Grandpa .

Leaves shuffling in his leafy beard and long branchy and viny hair .

"Kid ..." the tree grandpa said with a relaxing and a crispy tone .

"Ugh , hugh !? Who ??" boy exclaimed , not recognizing the leaf sound as danger .

"Calm down child ." he said appearing in front of the child . "I will watch upon you during your journey ."

After a little talk between the two an observer-observed relationship established .

The two started moving towards the tree while the kid was thinking about the ways of passing obstacles such as the giants roots and rocks . He also needed a way to climb the tree . It would get harder with time , climbing the normal way grabing the giant barks and all .

Time passed and the boy talked to the archura from time to time while passing the obtacles slowly with various non-destructive methods .

Finally reaching the base of the tree after weeks he set up a camp to rest for a while . He was able to gather his food from around during the time . According to what archura said it wasn't okay to hunt animals around the tree so he had to feed like a vegetarian .

Although he had to eat fruits and vegetables there were no signs of anything negative in his body since the food around the tree was no normal food .

After enough rest the boy restarted the journey with thinking ways to climb the tree with minimal danger . There were various methods to climbs but it needed thinking for it was neccesarry to also camp on the surface of the tree since the nearest branch of the tree looked like it was days away .

Food was not a problem for there were plants that were stuck on the tree in a parasitic manner .

Sleep was a problem . He thought a way and it was to find a dented giant and durable bark and magicaly stick his back to the tree for as long as the magic lasts .

There was a hope to make sticky glue with all the bizzare plants around and if it doesn't work he could find a way with trying a few rituals on his clothes or on the tree .

He started climbing .

It was like he was climbing a mountain . Normally breathing would get harder with decreasing air pressure as he climbed but there wouldn't happen something like that since the tree was exuding unnatural amounts oxygen .

If one were to place his hands on a barkless area on the World Tree one would feel like there was wind blowing from its surface .

Days passed and he was still climbing , not reaching to a branch yet . Negative thoughts were flashing in his head as he had to collect light fragments and if it was something rare he would be able to return back when he was an old man . But they just flashed and didn't last .

He hoped that his friends were having easier times since he found his one pretty challenging .

Days passed and weeks passed and he finally reached his first branch . Since the branch he reached (even though it was a little one) was pretty large he didn't have to stay in rather uncomfortable positions like sticking himself to the tree with a giant bark in front of him .

He camped on the branch for a while and started looking for fragments of light on the tree .

There were giant leaves and smaller branches branching out from the tree but he didn't see any mission items .

He continued his mission and went from a branch to another .

The first fragment he found after his long suffering was worthy of a party so that day he rested longer than he would normally .

The fragment was warm but not hot and it was shining blindingly . He had to take it with his eyes closed when he first saw it , even then it was visible .

The bad thing is he had to take the every fragment with him since he wasn't sure if he would be able find them back on the place he left when he returned . He just hoped not to go blind .

Maybe a week passed and he found the second one but it was terrible as his fragment bag was literally leaking light .

It became a harder journey with the second fragments as his eyes were hurting from the constant magical light .

It felt like it was burning his eyes every moment so he covered his eyes while he was not climbing .

Time passed again and he found the third one . Bag was useless as it lost its ability to stop the light like any regular opaque object . He had added a new layer of cover for when he was trying to sleep.

The fourth one and the burning feeling was incredible ,he had to cover his eyes while he was awake too since it was no problem seeing with eyes closed as the light particules were easily penetrating trought his eyelids and the cover . Even then it looked brighter than normal .

The burning though ,

it was hurting ...

The fifth and he was no longer able to select colors . Everything was white . Even the sounds around felt like they blended with the white he was seeing .

He thought about solutions while hoping he would be no longer blind when he gets rid of the crystals or if he was already blind he hoped that it was curable with the abilities of the healers .

He tried to extend his other senses with magic but it wasn't helpful for finding even a ray of light .

He tried to dampen his ability to see with the hope he would see the world darker than it should but it didn't work .

After a while of repetitive try of the possible solutions he started feeling something unnatural . He tried to grab this sensation as it was his last strand to grab .

He felt his magic power raging and hitting invisible walls , breaking them and tearing the curtain that was in front of his eyes for all his life . He clinged to this feeling with his all might and did his best to internalize it . He succeeded .

He saw again , differently than the past but it felt like it was the way how a human should see .

He perceived things as mere colors no more . He was feeling their true natures . Seeing them as what they were .

The World Tree looked white as stars , as the mix of all colors with no impurity .

The fragments he was holding were merely a drop of water in an ocean in front of tree .

He looked at the birds , they were shining like the sun with burning fervor . One was closer to the death while the other was closer to the life yet both their deserved places were undoubtly on the top of tree . Their auras slowly spiralling around eachother .

He looked at the archura that was his observer . He was green and neutral , he belonged to forests and trees and a tree he was .

He looked down and saw the roots , they were piercing the Earth Mother like unforgiving blades .

The roots slithering down looked all like death going towards whatever it was under the ground .

The tree was a bridge betweent the life and death and maybe it was true the firstborns were the born from the tree .

With his new and improved sight he found the last 2 fragment too . Finding them took time too but there were no longer burning feeling in his eyes and his vision wasn't obstructed too .

After finding the last piece he rest on a branch his eyes savoring the sight . But he wanted to turn this sight off if he could . He didn't want to see the people he loved with their flaws unhidden .

He spent some effort and found a way to turn it off .

His normal sight wasn't as damaged as he thought .

He wasn't aware but his eyes also were different than they were as now there were 3 white rings nested in eachother around each of his pupils .

He went down the tree with much less effort than his time climbing it .

He said his goodbye to the Grandpa archura .

Then his secret observers appeared and took him back .
