Monsters of the Grasslands

We continued to travel across the grasslands then I looked up from messing around with the settings and noticed 5 enemies were on alert from our presence.

"Seems like we've got a battle ahead of us." Cuara warned.

Yuki hurried to the front and I sighed as I remembered that I don't have a weapon yet. I looked at the levels of each of the enemies attacking us.

"Yuki! Dark Beam!" I commanded.

Yuki used 20 MP to cast her Dark Beam skill. She twirled her staff around and slammed the bottom of her staff against the ground. A purple magic circle appeared in front of her and released a massive dark beam at the targets. They all dispersed into magic particles and some of them dropped items.

"That dark beam completely annihilated those enemies. Let me check the stats on Dark Beam." I said to myself.

I brought up the interface and clicked on Party then pressed on Shadow Yuki. I clicked her skills and pressed on Dark Beam.

Skill: Dark Beam

MP Cost: 20

Description: A powerful 5 hit dark elemental combo that strikes enemies within medium range.

"Maybe we just got lucky that they all just happened to strike her from that range. Might as well check the other skills while I'm here." I said.

Skill: Shadow Chain

MP Cost: 10

Description: A powerful single dark elemental strike that hit all enemies and restricts their movements for 5s.

"Ahh, that move is pretty good. I should try it out next time we run into battle." I said then clicked on the next skill.

Skill: Dark Heal

MP Cost: 5

Description: Heals all allies by 5% per second for 10s.

"Basically a move that heals 50% HP for all allies within ten seconds. Pretty good recovery skill for early game." I said then clicked on her Burst Skill.

Burst Skill: Shadow Buster

Burst Gauge Cost: 25%

Cooldown Time: 15s

Description: A destructive 2 hit dark elemental combo that strikes all targets in a vast area.

"Probably a two hit combo since there is a magic circle above and below the targets." I said then looked up and noticed Yuki and Cuara ahead of me. "Ack! You weren't gonna wait on me?!"

"Hurry slowpoke! I want to get out of this prairie by before the sun sets!" Cuara called out to me.

I hurried over to them and walked beside them once again. I looked around the area and noticed there weren't many enemies on the map. "This is gonna be pretty easy don't you think?"

"Well this is just the tutorial mode. Not many enemies are gonna be here, but if we continue down this path we will be out in no time. Just beware of monsters that may try to sneak attack you and your units. This may be the starting area, but the AI of the enemy is actually pretty good. The Devs made sure the game wasn't too hard or too easy." Cuara explained.

"Keep my head up. Gotcha." I said then got a notification. I pulled up the interface and noticed a notification saying all features have been downloaded and ready to initiate after reaching Summoner Level 10. "That was a pretty fast download...now the question is how will I be able to level up it's been a while since I had to start over.."

Yuki rushed ahead and blocked an attack from a skeleton knight. I looked up quickly and grunted softly. I tossed Yuki an Elixir to restore her MP. The bottle shattered on her and she absorbed the magic energy and her MP was fully restored.

"Yuki! Let's go with Shadow Chain!" I commanded.

Yuki chanted and a portal opened underneath the skeleton knight. A chain emerged from the portal and tried to wrap around the skeleton, but the skeleton knight dodged it then dashed towards Yuki. The sword of the skeleton emitted dark aura.

"Dodge it! Hurry!" I commanded.

She grunted then rolled out of the way of the attack then stood up. The skeleton had red dots appearing in its eye sockets. The skeleton launched itself towards Yuki with a powerful slash downwards. Yuki blocked the attack and grunted. Her eyes emitted dark aura.

"Master...! I'm ready!" Yuki grunted loudly.

"Right! Burst Skill: Shadow Buster!" I bellowed.

Yuki used her aura to push the skeleton away then raised her staff in the air and a magic circle appeared above and below the skeleton knight then a powerful beam struck the skeleton knight. The skeleton knight was slain and we heard someone clapping their hands.

"Well well, that was a fine performance by a rookie summoner." A male said. The male had short blonde hair and red eyes. He wore a suit of white armor with gold accents. He carried a great sword and a silver shield.

"And you are?" I asked.

"I am a Summoner, like you." He looked at me and Yuki then at Cuara. "Shin... So that's your name.."

"Is it possible to summon monsters?" I asked and looked at Cuara. "I feel like he summoned that Skeleton. That skeleton looked like it was reacting to commands."

"It's not possible to summon monsters if you aren't a Monster Summoner. This Summoner here...might be a Monster Summoner and may be the one who summoned that Kobald as well." Cuara answered.

I looked at the man then decided to look at his stats. He seemed to be another player like me.

"What the hell..? Why is he in this area starting trouble like this? This is just the tutorial area..does he actually have nothing else to do?" I asked.

"Master...I sense a wave of targets approaching. They all are being commanded by Yoshimune..." Yuki said.

"I actually wish to test something. Are you the same Shin who ranked top five in the USA servers? If so this shouldn't be an issue for you." Yoshimune smirked.

"What? This isn't fair at all! Me and Yuki are both level 1! You're level 15! Don't you have anything else better to do instead of ruining my progress." I asked.

"I could be doing something else like beating your ass, but you don't even possess a weapon nor any skills and your stats are all 5. It wouldn't be a joy to beat you, but Shadow Yuki...since she's a Magic Type and her Leader Skill boosts her parameters by 10% she should have an easier time than you." Yoshimune said then walked away. "Good luck.."

We were surrounded by slimes and skeletons. I glared and looked around. Yuki was prepared for battle and awaited my commands.

I looked at Yuki and closed my eyes then took a deep breath then exhaled. "Shadow Chain!"

Yuki immediately reacted and opened a portal underneath every enemy in the area. The chains emerged from the portals and hit most of the targets and binded them for five seconds.

I noticed the ones who escaped were headed straight for Yuki. I tossed my last Elixir at her and the bottle broke on her, restoring her MP. "Shoot a Dark Beam at the ground!"

Yuki nodded and held her hand at the ground then a magic circle appeared in front of her hand. A dark beam was released from the magic circle and she was propelled to the sky. Yuki looked surprised as she was in the sky.

"This is different from the actual game...We can do much more now...Yuki! Sync with me!" I bellowed and my eyes shined.

"A Burst Skill in the air? What the heck is this?" Cuara asked and watched. "This breaks all logic of the game..."

"Burst Skill: Shadow Buster!" I bellowed.

Yuki raised her staff to the sky and bellowed then a massive magic circle appeared above and below the enemies.

"Combo into the Shadow Chain!" I commanded.

Yuki used her Shadow Chain skill before her Burst Skill activated and manager to bind every enemy then the Shadow Buster activated then a massive beam hit every target in the are and an explosion happened. I hurried over to Yuki and caught her then she looked at me, blushing.

"Because she was in the air, they were unable to attack her...allowing her to go for a perfect Shadow Buster and combo into the Shadow Chain. A strategy like this won't be able to work in the normal games.." Cuara said.

"Wow...I wasn't aware that you could use your skills in a way where you can just blast yourself into different directions. Yoshimune said something about you being ranked top five in the USA? Is that true?" Cuara asked.

"Well yeah. I had all the best units since I did spend actual money on the game..." I said, setting Yuki down.

"Maybe a person like you is enough to stop the Goddesses. Anywho! Let's go! Our destination is just ahead! Let's hurry before anyone else tries to come and stop us." Cuara said.

Yuki and I nodded then we hurried forward after Cuara. As we hurried to the destination, Yuki rushed forward and blocked an attack from a King Skeleton. I still didn't have the Scan feature unlocked so I couldn't see what level it was or how much HP it had.

[WARNING! WARNING! Boss ahead! King Skeleton!]

"It's the boss of the Graceful Grasslands. Be careful as this enemy is a lot stronger than the others, but I know you can win! I believe in you!" Cuara said.

"Alright Yuki...let's do this!" I said and began to resonate with her. "Go!"

Yuki dashed forward and jumped up then sent a barrage of dark orbs at the skeleton. The skeleton dodged the first few orbs then was hit by the last three and slid back. It didn't seem to do much damage to it. The skeleton dashed towards Yuki and slashed downward. Yuki parried the attack then swung her staff at the skeleton, knocking it backwards then she spent 20 MP to use Dark Beam. A magic circle appeared in front of her then a beam was released at the skeleton. The skeleton parried the beam and sent it back at Yuki. Yuki looked surprised then was hit by the beam and an explosion happened.

"Yuki!" I called out. I noticed the parried beam dealt a critical hit on Yuki and her HP was down in the yellow zone already. The smoke cleared and I noticed Yuki was panting softly on her knees.

I took out a potion and threw it at Yuki. The bottle shattered on her, restoring a bit of her HP. It wasn't a lot, but enough to get her back into the green. She stood up and glared at the skeleton. Her dragon tail swayed and she looked back at me, awaiting orders.

"Go for it! Shadow Chain!" I commanded.

She nodded and looked at the skeleton then opened a portal underneath the skeleton then a chain emerged from the portal and struck the skeleton and binded it.

"Dark Beam!" I commanded.

Yuki bellowed and twirled her lance then a noticed a persona like cut in happen. "May your soul never escape the Underworld!"

My heart skipped a beat hearing Yuki's critical quote. I absolutely loved all of Yuki's critical quotes.

She bellowed as she summoned a magic circle and blasted the skeleton with a massive dark energy beam. All five hits were critical hits and the King Skeleton was slain.
