Chapter 5: Ryan’s POV

It's ten o'clock at night, and Bia and I both open our eyes as the secret door opens.

(It's a door that only immortals like us can see, that's why it's a secret door.)

To our surprise, Carlisle enters. His dark wings show beautifully behind him.

Bia sits up and says:

"Dad?"

He smiles, and then he tells us the words that keep us wondering all night…

"Two children, one of dark and one of light. They will unite the worlds and end our fright."

He disappears, and Bia looks up at me with that scared look in her eyes.

"We will figure this out tomorrow," I say to her.

She closes her eyes, and her breathing gets deeper as she sleeps on my chest.

It's one of those times when you want to move, that you have to get up and go pee.

But she looks so peaceful. And she isn't in pain for once. So, I fall asleep.
