27. Chapter 27

"Alright, our only rule for the wedding is no weapons", Erin explained as she stood in front of the whole entire unit the day before her wedding.

"The wedding will begin at four o'clock tomorrow. Ruzek, Atwater, and Dawson. As the best men you all will arrive to the church at three", Jay said.

"Already dressed and ready to go", Erin added. "Kim and Nadia will come at two thirty", she explained looking at her best friends who already knew all the plans.

"There are two small rooms in the church, which will be marked, where we will get ready", Jay stated.

"Any questions", Erin asked looking at everyone.

"What if there is a serious emergency at the wedding", Ruzek joked.

"Don't push my 'no weapons' rule, Ruzek", Erin warned her soon to be husband's best man.

Jay gently placed his hand on the small of Erin's back in attempt to get her to calm down, "After the ceremony, we will go to the reception downtown", he explained the rest of the plans.

Everyone nodded in agreement as Jay and Erin finished explaining, "Well, I think now is a good time to give you our gift from everyone", Voight spoke up from his doorway.

"You guys really didn't have to get us anything", Jay began to protest a little too late as Hank was already coming out with a large envelope in his hands.

"Go ahead and open it", Voight said as gave into the both of them. Jay handed it to Erin who quickly opened up the envelope to reveal almost two hundred dollars.

"You guys", Erin said in barely a whisper.

"When Halstead first came on the team, I started the bet you guys would eventually sleep together", Antonio explained.

"I was against it", Voight announced from his original spot in the doorway of his office.

"Now, you have not only slept together, but you are getting married tomorrow and are about to welcome your first child", Antonio continued.

"This is all of the money we collected from what became a string of bets", Atwater explained.

"Take it as our contribution to whatever you need in the next couple months", Olinsky added.

"We wish all of our luck to you two crazy kids, who are about to raise two crazy kids", Adam added as well.

"Hey, I am not crazy", Maggie suddenly announced as she peaked her head from Voight's office where she had been coloring during everyone's little speeches, causing everyone to laugh.

The afternoon of the wedding came and Erin found herself with a strange sense of deja vu come over as she looked at herself in the mirror. The dress Nadia had picked out still fit perfectly and Kim helped Erin do her hair.

Everything was coming finally coming together and she couldn't believe this was finally happening. She was about to marry the man of her dreams and have the wedding she had secretly always hoped for.

Smoothing over her dress, Erin glanced in the mirror one more time, "Well, this as good as it will get", she smiled.

Just as she set her hands on top of her stomach, Erin felt the slightest movement or kick of the baby. "Oh, you're excited too I bet", she laughed running soothing patterns over her stomach.

"Erin, honey, can we come in", Kim's voice called out from outside the door.

"Yeah, come on in", Erin responded as she turned towards the door watching her two best friends, her daughter, and her 'father' walking into the room.

"Mommy! You look like a princess", Maggie exclaimed as she ran over to her mother with her flower basket in hand and wrapped Erin in a hug.

"Look at you, baby. Who did your hair", Erin asked as she ran a gentle hand through her daughter's now straight hair.

"Aunt Nadia said my hair would look good straight", Maggie explained as she subconsciously touched her hair. "Do you like it", Maggie asked.

"Of course! It looks beautiful", Erin smiled as she straightened the flower in Maggie's hair. She had gotten her wish of a pink flower girl dress. Even though it did not match Kim and Nadia's light blue bridesmaids dresses, Erin was willing to give Maggie anything she wanted.

"Are you ready, kid", Voight asked.

Erin looked up from her place on the small pedestal towards her father figure, "Yeah, I think I am", she answered.

Kim and Nadia quickly took Maggie up to the front of the church, where Adam, Kevin, and Antonio were already waiting.

"Dang, you girls look good", Kevin complimented them.

"Hey, don't get all handsy now Kev. Stick to your girl", Adam lectured as he quickly stole Kim away, not going unnoticed by Erin.

Atwater rolled his eyes as he outstretched his arm for Nadia to take, which she happily obliged. Antonio got the luck of the draw of getting to walk Maggie down the aisle while she sprinkled her flower petals.

It felt as if once everyone was in line the piano immediately started playing and the doors were opened to the small church.

Voight felt Erin's grip on his arm tighten a little more and more as each person left the hallway and walked down the aisle.

Before they knew it, Maggie's small hand grabbed Antonio's while using the other to spread her flower petals down the aisle.

"I love you, kid", Hank said in barely a whisper. "You know that right", he asked turning to her.

"Of course", Erin answered feeling the tears already begin to prick in her eyes.

"I just want what is best for you and even though I was really stubborn about it I think you have found it in Halstead", Hank explained as the doors shut and the pianist prepared for the wedding march.

"Thank you", Erin began. "For everything", she smiled. "I couldn't think of anyone better to give me away", she laughed slightly.

Before Hank could say anything further the doors opened back up and everyone was on their feet, awaiting Erin's arrival.

As the stepped out, Erin securely wrapped an arm around Hank's, keeping her eyes on the handsome man that stood ten feet away from her.

Everyone they invited had come, even if it was majority of Jay's family. All of Erin's family consisted of the wedding party and Alvin and Hank. She didn't care though, she wouldn't have it any other way.

Jay took a step down from his place at the altar of the church as Voight and Erin approached. He couldn't even fathom enough words to describe how beautiful she looked in this very moment.

With a gentle smile, Jay shook Voight's hand, not missing the almost tearful words, "You take care of her", and intertwined his hand with Erin's.

"You look beautiful", Jay complimented her as they walked up.

"You clean up well", Erin teased lightly causing Jay to chuckle quietly to himself. He loved Erin for so many reasons and this was one of them. No matter what the occasion, she could always get him laughing.

"We gather here today to unite Jay Halstead and Erin Lindsay in the sacrament of marriage"

"And I would just like to say, I never doubted their relationship and I am fully prepared to look after their newest addition when he or she arrived", a slightly sloppy Ruzek finished his congratulatory speech getting the everyone in the reception hall to laugh at every minute.

Jay couldn't help but laugh himself as he watched his wife give one of his best friends a disapproving look. It had been almost two hours since the wedding ceremony and Jay still couldn't believe Erin Lindsay was his wife. He got to spend the rest of his life with this amazing woman and they were going to raise amazing children.

"Now, I would like to hand off the mic to my favorite niece and probably the queen of the Halstead household. Miss Maggie Halstead", Adam smiled as he gave Maggie a wink.

Both Erin and Jay sat their in almost disbelief as Maggie caught up from her seat next to her parents and walked up to the small stage, Voight following behind her. As they approached the stage, Voight pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to Maggie.

Grabbing the microphone, Maggie cleared her throat and then began her speech.

"I love my Mommy and Daddy way more than anyone else. Daddy made sure I had a home when I was a baby. He found me the best mommy in the whole wide world", she began.

"There is nobody better than my Mommy and Daddy 'cause they make me laugh and they hug me tight when I cry", Maggie continued getting everyone to sigh with amazement at the five year olds words.

Erin felt tears brimming in her eyes and she knew Jay was probably emotional to. Erin tucked her head gently on his shoulder, feeling Jay's grip on her waist tighten.

"I am really glad they got married because now me and my baby sister or brother have the best family", she explained.

There was a pause as Maggie looked down at her paper, everyone thinking that she had more to say. "The End", she smiled folding the paper back up and handing it to Voight.

Everyone clapped as Maggie skipped down from the small stage and ran over to her parents, immediately sitting on her father's lap.

"I don't know how I can follow that", Voight said as he looked out at the crowd of people.

"It's probably obvious I have never been the biggest fan of Lindsay and Halstead", he began getting everyone to laugh.

"I forbid them from being together and look where it got them", Voight explained. "What I did know is that rule probably wouldn't last for long, when they first met".

"Ah, so this is the new kid", Jules Willhite teased as Antonio came up with Jay by his side.

Jay smiled politely as he looked over everyone, who would soon become his colleagues.

"Guys, this Jay Halstead", Antonio said as he set a hand on Jay's shoulder. "AKA the guy who practically saved my sister's life", he explained.

Jay really had nothing to say to that, but just stand there and smile like an idiot.

"So, this is the Jay Halstead you talk so highly of", Hank Voight suddenly announced as he came out of his office.

"It's nice to meet you, sir", Jay greeted him as he walked over to shake his hand. Voight simply gave him a nod as he released his hand.

"We will talk in a minute, kid", Voight said. "First we need to find your partner", he explained as he looked around the room.

"Anyone seen Lindsay", he asked.

"Miss me already", Erin's voice suddenly rang out as she walked up the district steps and dropped a cup of coffee on Jules' desk.

Jay looked up and saw the woman who he assumed was his new partner. She wore a dark purple leather jacket and a black t-shirt underneath. She had black aviator sunglasses on and Jay knew she was easily the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

"Way to get me a cup of coffee", Antonio teased.

"You were out getting your new recruit. I also did not realize I was a professional coffee runner", Erin teased in return earning a nod from Antonio in Jay's direction.

The woman who Jay assumed was his new partner, quickly snapped her head in his direction.

"Lindsay, this is your new partner", Voight announced.

Jay watched her smile softly as she walked across the room. "Erin Lindsay", she introduced herself reaching her hand out.

"Jay Halstead", Jay said shaking her hand. "Uh, your new recruit", he playfully teased.

"You're quite the smart ass, Halstead , Erin smiled looking down at his hand, making Jay realizing he was still holding it.

"Alright, you two", Voight suddenly spoke up getting them to release their hands from eachothers grasp in almost an instant. "We have a case to close".

"And I guess that was the moment I knew they were going to break any rules I set up to be together", Voight finished.

"Was I really that mean to you", Erin asked looking up from Jay's shoulder.

"I wouldn't say mean", Jay began earning an eye roll from his wife. "More like intimidating", he clarified.

"But, I did know that I loved you from the first moment I saw you. Even if you were a little intimidating", Jay quickly recovered.

"Nice save", Erin smiled gently pressing a kiss to his cheek.

"So, now I would like to make a toast to Jay and Erin", Voight said as he raised his glass. "May they have many years of happiness in their future. Even if I am busting Halstead's balls on what's right for Erin", he added getting everyone to laugh.

"To Jay and Erin"

A/N: This chapter took me longer than usual since it is the wedding chapter and I obviously wanted it to be perfect. So, as Erin said in this chapter "this is as good as it gets" and I really hope you guys enjoyed it. Please review and let me know your thoughts like usual. I am most likely going to jump time in the next chapter and I am also having trouble deciding whether or not the baby should be a boy or girl. Anyway, let me know what you think :)
