Chapter 28

In the Crow Club Gambling house Kaz Brekker is a young, skinny, pale adult with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He walks with a limp and carries a cane with a metal crow's head.

Kaz Brekker or Rietveld, he was raised on a farm near Lij with his father and older brother Jordie Rietveld. When Kaz was nine, their father died in a plough accident. Jordie sold the farm and took Kaz to Ketterdam, where he intended for Kaz to attend school.

After their arrival in the city, Kaz and Jordie was. introduced bus friend of their Felip to a minor mercher called Jakob Hertzoon(Pekka Rollins), who employed them as runners while Kaz remained at Hertzoon's coffeehouse, practicing magic tricks. Kaz also met Hertzoon's wife Margit, who served them hutspot, and their daughter Saskia, who gave him her red ribbon.

Hertzoon encouraged the boys to invest in sugar stocks, resulting in a large payout. A few days later, he had Jordie invest heavily in the jurda crop, using all of the funds from the sale of their father's farm. Kaz and Jordie spent the next week in comfort, but when it was time to reconvene at the coffeehouse, they found it empty. They realized that Jakob Hertzoon and his "family" had been running a con, taking all their money and leaving them penniless.The boys were evicted from their boarding house and forced to sleep on the streets, coming into conflict with the stadwatch and the Razorgulls.

He was in his private chamber was Inej,who was a young Suli girl with brown skin, black hair that she often wears in a long ponytail, and brown eyes.

Inej grew up traveling around Ravka in Suli caravans and performing acrobatics with her family.When she was fourteen, Inej was with her family on the west coast near Os Kervo performing in a summer carnival. She was awakened from a nap and captured by slavers early one morning and subsequently sold to Tante Heleen, the owner of a pleasure house in Ketterdam, where she was forced to work in the Menagerie as an indenture.This when Inej first met Kaz Brekker,  Inej soon joined the Crows just days after her fifteenth birthday.Over time, Kaz gave Inej her first knife, taught her to crack safes and pick pockets, and named her the Wraith.

Next to her was Jesper an expert sharp shooter,he is a young teen with brown skin, dark brown eyes, and black hair. His hair is often tousled.

Jesper grew up on a jurda farm in western Novyi Zem with his Kaelish father, Colm Fahey, and Zemeni mother, Aditi Hilli. They were all very close. Aditi taught him about life on the Zemeni frontier, how to shoot, and about their shared zowa (Grisha) power. When Jesper was seven, his mother died after using her power to save a young girl from poison. and Colm buried her under a cherry tree on the farm.Colm discouraged Jesper from mentioning Grisha, and when Jesper began Fabrikating things as a child, his father told him to keep his power hidden and never use it.

Jesper left Novyi Zem when he was fifteen to attend university in Ketterdam, but within his first week in the city he began gambling and quickly became addicted. He started taking on work with the gangs to earn more money to gamble, and joined the Crows after Kaz Brekker saved him from a beating.Jesper is always deeply in debt after that.

Kaz looking at Inej and Jesper said"Like I told you before Crows don't just remember the faces of people who wronged them. They also remember those who were kind. They tell each other who to look after and who to watch out for.Sirius Black is someone who saved me and my brother when we were in close to death,if not for him I would never have reached where I am now."

Inej and Jesper knew Kaz had deep respect for Sirius Black and his son Hadrian Black,as Jesper asked"If remember correctly Hadrian Black is the sun summoner right."

Inej nodded and replied"Yeah,he is genius stratagist too.I heard his group Black Dragon is feared by the Fjerda and Shu."

Jesper then turned to Kaz and asked"What does Lord Black want with us?"

Kaz was thought while twirling his crow cane and said"Lord Black has heard as few rumors about the West Ravka is trying to become independent and majority of the support General Zlatan,we don't have evidence.But it seems Zaltan is letting Fjerdan Druskelle into Ravka."

Inej understood their mission asked"He wants us to find evidence of this and who us connected right?"

Kaz nodded,but he already had enough info as his brother worked under Hadrian Black as spy master and information they have was very useful as Kaz given the info and money to break Pekka Rollins for what they did to the two brothers.Pekka Rollins while still powerful had list one of his gambling house he had in fake name.
