Chapter 1: New Beginnings

October 11, 1979

Outside the treatment room on the 4th floor of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries

A young man in his twenties paced anxiously. He had dazzling golden hair and bright emerald eyes that shimmered.

On a bench nearby, two middle-aged couples sat in silence with two young girls. Their occasional glances towards the treatment room indicated their shared anxiety.

"William, stop pacing around like that, you're making me dizzy. Can't you just sit down quietly?" one of the middle-aged gentlemen said.

"Dad, Elena has been inside for so long, why hasn't she come out yet?" William asked.

"She's only been in for 10 minutes. Your mother took nearly 20 minutes to give birth to you. What's the rush?"

William's father, Orion, rolled his eyes, completely disregarding the fact that he was even more anxious than William back when he was born, almost barging into the treatment room if not for someone holding him back.

Before William could respond, the treatment room door suddenly burst open.

"Quick! Anyone, come help! The baby's magic is running wild!"

After a moment's pause, the three men immediately sprang into action, rushing into the treatment room and stopping the four women from following suit.

"What's happening? How could a baby's magic run wild? I've never heard of such a thing!" Elena's mother, Clara, anxiously watched as the three men entered the treatment room, her face drained of color and barely able to stand. A young woman beside her quickly supported her, preventing her from falling.

"It'll be okay, Mom! Dad and my brother-in-law will handle it. My sister and the baby will be fine," Helena tried to reassure her mother, though her expression lacked conviction.

The four of them stood outside the treatment room, listening to the chaotic noises emanating from within, feeling as if an eternity had passed.

Finally, after what felt like ages, the three men emerged from the treatment room, accompanied by a stretcher. A young, beautiful woman lay on it, with a newborn baby sleeping beside her.

"How's Elena? Is the baby okay?" They hurried over to inspect the two on the stretcher.

Following them out of the treatment room, a healer answered their question.

"Both mother and child are safe, but due to the strain, they've both fallen asleep. They need rest now. Please refrain from disturbing them; one or two people to watch over them will suffice."

...

Two weeks had passed since the birth of the baby. Today, the Minashel and Jestraw families reunited at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Knocking on the door, they entered a hospital room together.

Inside, Elena sat on the bed, gazing at her baby beside her, humming an unknown tune. However, the slight furrow of her brows indicated her mood was far from wonderful.

"Dad, Mom, why are you all here together today?" Elena turned her head curiously as the group entered the room.

Usually, due to the healer's advice against too many people surrounding the baby, only 2 or 3 would visit mother and child each day. It was the first time since the baby's birth that everyone had gathered.

"Hasn't Bell woken up yet?" Elena's father, Druide, frowned, looking at the sleeping baby on the bed. Bell was the baby's name, full name Bell Minashel.

"No, and the healers can't say for certain when Bell will wake up."

Elena sighed and shook her head.

"They said because of Bell's strong magical power, his fragile body couldn't handle it, so to protect himself, his body instinctively fell into a deep sleep. However, during this sleep, his magic will automatically strengthen his body to withstand it. It's actually beneficial for him. But the trouble is, after his body is strengthened by magic, he'll generate even more magic, making it harder to control."

"Does that mean Bell will never wake up?" Bell's aunt, Lina, exclaimed.

"The healers said Bell's body strengthening is faster than the rate of magic increase, so the situation is improving continuously. But as for when he'll wake up, they've never encountered such a case, so they can't be sure. It could be tomorrow, a year from now, or even several years later."

As Elena spoke, her voice choked up. She couldn't bear the thought of her poor child, who had barely seen the world, having to sleep for years. It was just too cruel!

Listening to Elena's explanation, everyone fell into silence. For a moment, no one spoke in the hospital room.

"Oh, by the way, why did you all come today?" Finally, Elena managed to control her emotions and asked the question she had initially intended.

"We're here to say goodbye. Our family's business in America has only just been set up, and although we made arrangements before coming, we didn't expect it to take this long. We've accumulated many problems, and we must return immediately to deal with them. So, although it's regrettable, we can't wait for Bell to wake up. When he does, you must notify us immediately." Orion said.

"Well... that's inevitable. Don't worry, we'll take good care of Bell." Elena said after a moment of silence.

She also had some understanding of the situation of the two families in America. Being outsiders, although British people were relatively welcome in America, when it came to interests, siblings would still harm each other. Who cared about your nationality!

...

When Bell woke up again, a month had passed.

"Who am I? Where am I? What am I supposed to do?"

He couldn't help but ask the three questions of life.

Ahem, well, actually, he just wanted to make a joke to liven up the atmosphere. After all, being reborn as a baby was too absurd.

Bell had a faint memory of the day he was born.

At first, he felt like he was in a damp, warm, but very narrow place. He was comfortable at first, but gradually, he felt a bit suffocated. So he tried hard to leave, to go to a wider place to breathe. He struggled with his hands and feet, trying to find a way out until he felt a push, and he followed that force until he finally climbed out.

Just as he tried hard to open his eyes to see where he was, his head suddenly hurt, and he lost consciousness again.

Bell looked at his tiny hands and feet, let out a helpless sigh, and then 'bang,' the light bulb on the ceiling exploded...

"What... what's going on? Terrorist attack?"
