FIRE AND ICE

The first rays of sunlight lit up the entire room in the Kim mansion and the dawn chorus of melodic birdsong drifted in.The rising sun cast a rosy hue across the golden sky. Golden fingers of sunlight lit up the scene.

Kiaraa fluttered her lashes a little bit as she found it difficult to open her eyes. Her head was aching badly and the bright morning sun didn't help in anyways as she felt it's strong light wave hit her eyes when she finally opened it.

She immediately shut her eyes and shielded it with her hands. She sat up and rubbed her temples gently with eyes still closed and so she didn't notice someone staring at her every move.

"Hungry?" she heard the voice and she immediately jolted, flying her eyes open and ignoring the excruciating headache.

At first, she couldn't make out where the voice was coming from and she had to scan the luxurious and large bedroom until she finally found the figure standing in front of a door with a tray of food in his hands.

She didn't stop there, she looked around the room again and noticed the unfamiliar surrounding. Then she tried adding everything together.

She closed her eyes once again to get pieces of her memory back and fragments of last night activities quickly flashed in her mind.

She remembered walking out of the ballroom and into the washroom. She remembered fighting off some men while struggling to stay awake and the last thing she remembered was the silver hair that interrupted the man from strangling her.

Before she closed her eyes, she couldn't take a look at his face as she was too weak then. But she knew that she let her guard down because she trusted the person even though she couldn't tell who he was, she subconsciously felt the familiarity and that was all she could remember.

So looking at everything, that means he saved her and brought her to his house and she still couldn't believe that it was him, the one she's supposed to be guarding at school. No wonder she found him a little familiar when she first saw him because they are from the same social circle, maybe they have come across each other in the past.

"Are you deaf or dumb?" the cold voice broke her out of her reverie and she instantly opened her eyes and glared at him. She didn't care if he saved her, that doesn't mean he can insult her.

"Who...." she started but paused immediately. She couldn't believe what she just heard. 'Was that my voice? ' she asked herself. Her throat felt painful and the sound that came out was hoarse.

Adrian felt her discomfort and walked towards the bed, he placed the tray down on the bedside table and handed her a glass of water.

Kiaraa immediately took it and took one gulp but she felt a burning and painful sensation on her throat and immediately winced in pain.

"Painful?" he asked and she nodded. "Well it's one of the side effect of the drug you inhaled" she heard again.

He stretched a packet towards her, "Take this medicine, the doctor said it will calm down after a while" he explained.

She quickly took it from his hands and swallowed it with water. Her throat still felt painful but after a while it subsided a little bit.

"You'll take the rest of them when you're done eating" he said and walked towards a door.

"Wait, there's more? but I hate taking drugs" she complained.

"Then, you would have thought of that when you jumped into danger yourself" he retorted back with a cold voice.

Kiaraa immediately got up from the bed and walked towards him. She forcefully turned him around and glared at him.

"Hey, I went to the washroom and I didn't purposefully jump into danger" she explained and he scoffed. Does she think he's stupid or what. She intensified her glaring with her fiery amber eyes when she heard him scoff and he didn't back down as well, he gave her the same cold glare.

And so, two eyes glared at each other like fire and ice.

"It's gone" he finally broke the glaring contest.

"What's gone?" she asked with a confused face.

"Your sore throat" he muttered slightly. From the position they were standing she was shorter than him so he had to bend slightly to talk to her. The scenery looked like a cute rat trying to challenge a lion.

"Have your meal and take your medicines" he muttered and turned around again to leave.

"I want to have a bath" she said and he paused in his tracks. He nodded lightly and pointed at a door.

"The bathroom is over there, I'll get some clothes from my sister" he said and walked out.

'Sister?, I never knew that Mr Iceberg had a sister' she thought and hit herself in the head when she realized that she doesn't know anything about him, not even his name.

She carefully walked towards the bathroom because her legs still felt weak. When she opened the door, a normal person would have been lost for words at the sight of the luxurious bathroom but she was Lee Kiaraa, she was surrounded by luxuries so this wasn't new to her.

She walked towards the sink and found an unused toothbrush. She opened it and brushed her teeth. When she was done, she walked towards the bathtub and operated it skillfully because the facilities was similar to hers.

When she was done filling it with hot water, she looked towards the cabinet and found a flower scented oil. 'Does he like this oil too?' she wondered because she always liked the smell of flowers whenever she had a bath.

She sprinkled it gently and got into the bathtub. The hot water hit her supple skin and it calmed her nerves. To be honest, this was the most relaxing bath she has ever gotten since she came to Seoul.

The last one she took was a disaster because she was worried as to why her father summoned her but now that all the drama has ended, she could finally relax.

"This is life" she whispered to herself.
